“It’s like one of those bad dreams, where you can see a train go off the rails, or a car careening into a group of people, and you try to cry out, or move, but you can’t.”

“Ugh,” I moan as my phone’s alarm wakes me from a mercifully dreamless slumber on yet another Monday morning. Of course, the fact that it’s the start of August means that all weekdays seem to blend into one, even Mondays- though over the last few months, that’s been truer than ever, regardless of the summer break.
A frigid wind blew across the surface of the snow, sending ghostly tendrils of white swirling through the air until it thinned and vanished into the black of night. Beyond the thick bars of his cage, the boy observed the shifting of the snows and heard the howling of winds as unforgiving chill penetrated the space, sending the and the other children into fits of violent shivering, guarded only by their thin jackets and pants sewn from discarded burlap
Down through history there has been many stories of heroes and the weapons of power. Thor with his Warhammer Mjölnir, the sword of Aries and Mars, Attila the Hun’s sword, and King Author’s Excalibur. These are but a few legends. Yet for every one of these legends there are two legendary weapons lost to time. Among those lost weapons are the few whose power comes with a cost. They are the cursed weapons of power. Each curse is unique to the weapon. The Black sword is but one such weapon of great power. This is the story of the weapon and its newest welder.
In between the upsells and button pushing's at work my coworker Becky and I were managing to have something of a conversation. Sore feet and Taco seasoning the next two most prevalent things of note in my senses.
“Come on it'll be fun.” Becky said as soon as we had a quick break in customers.
“I would say it’s about enough, wouldn’t it be?” Sophia eyed me as I did a nervous twirl for Jen. I had traded the servant gray for a light green dress that was still plain, but lacked the apron and felt much lighter. The skirt draped around my legs and teased them gently as it fell back into place. I smiled widely and heard Jen giggle. Miah and Sophia had insisted on outfitting me, ever since I had officially become one of them. Since my title of nobility had become forfeit and it was clear that I would never leave.
Walther Livingston is a penetration tester, employed to probe the security arrangements at National Reliant Bank where a vast quantity of diamonds are stored. He tricks his way past guards and through numerous barriers, but the final line of defence is like nothing he has ever encountered before...
In this chapter, Zee is distracted from his worries by Phil, learns about a rough experience Casey had, then meets someone familiar when he joins his friends at the activity center.

Chapter 7

The Judge was good on his promise to take me not only out of the city but right out of the state. Our journey was hardly discrete due to a three Police cruiser escort complete with lights and sirens out of the city. Then the county cops took over and four of them followed us right to the Washington State line. A local TV truck complete with a huge satellite dish joined in the convoy but according to the local radio, I was being run out of town because I was a threat to society. Not true but small-town politics are messy at the best of times. Thankfully, the state line was just over an hour away but it was clear in that the message they were sending me was very clear… ‘Do not come back or else!’
Strange and powerful memories started to flood over me. I remembered a time when I was just starting kindergarten. I attended a private kindergarten, one that had a playroom that was attached to the main classroom. I froze and peered up into the sky as I found myself falling through time and space. In the corner of the play room, there was a corner, a kind of private corner. I also remembered there were toy chests that held clothing that the girls in my class use to play pretend and dress up.
“We will keep her here for the time being,” Sheena stood over me as I sat on the couch in her office. Lord Radon and Kayla stood nearby. “The servants wouldn’t know Micah Lavoric by sight, and as we have observed over the past few weeks, there has been no gossip to speak of.”
“Which is remarkable,” Lord Radon muttered. “Servants talk, commoners talk, even nobility talks. Tell me, how is it that the son of Lord Lavoric can walk about Klocby Palace in a a dress, holding a feather duster, and no one breathes a word of it?”
Lanie gaped at Angelina. Deep down, she knew Angelina was telling the truth, but she still couldn't get herself to believe it. A horrible woman like Angelina...Lanie's mother? The idea sickened her to her very core. "But how?" Lanie asked. "How can you be my mother?"
"I hooked up with your father nearly seventeen years ago," Angelina answered.
Shannon O'Reilly was bullied and everything his older sister wasn't. When his sister Sarah gives him a chance to change things through a single wish things don't go as planned.
I Wish: Book 5 Chapter 18
Homecoming
By Amethyst
“We’re all a little shaken up and a bit bruised, but we’re fine. We just need a bit of quiet time to reflect on what happened, and… I don’t think I’m going to be flying again for a while,” I said simply while giving an obviously forced smile.
Ashley was just brushing out her hair, the slightly sore throat being the only evidence that was left of her blow job training as she once again looked immaculate. When all of a sudden the door bell rang making her nerves reach an all time high. God she still couldn’t believe this was actually happening, that she was going on a date with an actual guy. Yet she was sure to meet him at any moment now. Hopefully he was at least handsome.
No map ever drawn, on earth, on sea, or in outer space,
has ever presented a cartographer as daunting a challenge
as the seating chart for a wedding reception.
A school for superpowered children seemed like a good idea and definitely a change from fighting mad geniuses and superhuman brutes. But who knew that helping set up a school for super-powered teenagers would be so challenging? Not to mention dangerous and exciting...
