Confused, intrigued & irritated

OK, so for a very long time, I am finally giving in but need help. I keep seeing story after story after story listed 'whatley academy' related. Honestly, I have never read it, I am having difficulty locating the 'original' version that started this 'universe'. I keep bypassing most stories i see labelled it, because I am without any idea to what is what about it. Would someone, please be ever so kind enough to lead me to this apparant 'best seller' of sorts?

Pretty please... with sugar on top <3

It is about time, I give in & give it a go, eh?

Thank you for all your help with Vacation

I really enjoyed coming back and visiting all the intelligent, tasteful readers here at BigCloset. The last book I finished up, Taylor, was donated to this site so the proceeds could help out keeping it afloat.

Testing out a story idea like Vacation proved rewarding for me, getting lots of great ideas for maybe retooling it into a novel. I liked my characters and they started talking to me..

But, the curious thing was how many people wanted me turn Portrait into a book.

It's been a while

I absolutely hate writing in fitful starts and stops. At worst it means that my reader has to keep going back to re-read previous chapters to remember what was going on. Unfortunately, as we all know, many if not most of us do not have the leisure of being able to write all day every day - or even every week.

I apologise for the delay. In Real Life, stuff happens.

Writing Progress

I am (slowly) approaching 29k words on _The Angel of Earth_, out of an estimated 50k to 55k. I have made (tiny) progress on the next Masks and Freddy on the Loose stories.

Part of the problem is having to do Summer yard work. Part of it is cats (there's one being chased by a bluejay this morning). Part of it is distractions from other sources.

Sheesh

I offered what I thought was some positive criticism to an author via a private message and not in a comment. They replied and blocked me.
I won't be reading any more of their stories. It is just not worth the angst.
I'll refrain from mentioning their name so don't ask but I won't block them.

To say ‘thank you’

I’m always astonished and humbled to see folks buying my books. Thank you!

Obviously, I asked you to: I announced that ‘Egyptology’ was out there. (That kind of self-promotion doesn’t come naturally to me, but it’s more-or-less necessary, else why bother to publish it?)

Janegirl Camp Activity Ideas

I've been thinking about trying to expand on my Janegirl Camp story. I sorta felt one thing that might move the plot along would be having Zee and the other campers getting involved in different activities. I've come up with a few ideas, but I've been struggling to come up with any really interesting ones, so I thought I'd try asking others for suggestions.

AAAARRRGGGHHH Gremlins!!!!

well shuzzle it

gremlins have struck, darned chapter corrupted due to a power malfunction. SSD's definitely don't like keeping backups.

That means I will have to rewrite todays chapter of reaffirmation and post it late.

Hopefully by tomorrow or saturday I am going to try and recover the corrupted copy first

wish me luck

I apologize

Honestly, I messed up.

I uploaded Chapter Four and the more I looked at it realized that it was not finished. So, I took some time today to upload more to make it better

I'm sorry for the people that read it this morning and missed the second half.

Oh, well.

I could have added a "Chapter Five" but it just seemed more important to finish Chapter Four.

I'll get it all smoothed out eventually.

Working on the next chapter of Ian & Brice/Bryce

For those who've been following my story, Ian & Brice/Bryce, I'm still working on the next chapter, but things are going a bit slowly. a big part of that is because I can feel how Ian will want to be held, as well as how afraid he is of doing anything like that would trigger another flashback.

A month apart

Hello out there,

It's been a month or so since I last updated Walker's Path.

For the last three or so months I was putting out two chapters a month. I didn't mind writing on that schedule but the last chapter was nearly twenty pages long and took a lot out of me.

I've been playing a lot of view games lately. Mainly Red Dead Redemption 2 and Overwatch. I also got into New World which I'm enjoying.

Draft completed!

Welp, after taking far too long due to dealing with the pandemic, and also with two job changes (promotions of sorts!) at work, the draft for Book 4 'Light and Shadow' was finally completed right on time for dinner today! Sitting at over 135k words and split into seven parts, it now shall enter the 'Editing Zone' and hopefully the first part can get posted sometime soon, for which I'm rather excited.

Hooray for inspiration!

Writing comes in spurts for me.

Sometimes there are weeks where I'm writing-writing-writing for days on end, it's all I wanna do.

Sometimes I'll go for months without writing anything at all. Much like with my art and music, if I'm not feeling it then sometimes it's impossible to get myself to do it no matter how much I want to complete project X or project Y.

Well, right now the stars are aligning, and I'm less than 5K words away from finishing a book!

Explicit Content, where is the line?

I've been working on a short story that gets much more explicit than I am accustomed to. And, I am not sure that the idea is entirely mine. Perhaps if I go through it and see if some ideas can be inferred? Perhaps that is what real, professional writers do? I think it was Arthur C Clark that said there are only a few stories?

Constructive Criticism makes a story better

I want to acknowledge the sweet people from BigCloset who create such a dynamic mechanism for posting a story. My latest effort, Vacation, is a work in progress. I eagerly read and responded to all the comments.

But, what was especially helpful were the folks who offered constructive criticism. And because the design here lets me edit my work, I was able to redo entire passages to reflect what I learned from readers. Chapter Three is the best example of rewriting to clarify what I should have said initially.

Introducing Aisha Burnside

We have this story category, ‘Cultural Change’... which I find to be an interesting one because it sees a character having to cope with more than just the changes that have been wrought upon their own body.

Erin should NOT have to do this...

every month! There are more than enough of us members that can afford to give ONE DOLLAR every month! That would eliminate the debt that exists AND more than meet the needed funds every month to keep the site online!

There are a few who do a LOT more than that every month and I salute them for how much they do! Without them, this site would have probably faded into non existence the way others have.

RL Cyber Stalking

This is a real life story of malicious cyber stalking where a young woman's life was almost destroyed. She spent time in court, jail, etc for doing things she didn't do. For all you writers who are interested in expanding your knowledge of the monster I think of the internet. This is how easy it is to disseminate lies and misinformation whether it is from an individual, main stream media, or individual groups.

Back burner is bubbling...

I currently have ... I think ... a couple dozen story ideas sitting on my back burner. One of those stories has been bubbling recently. The current working title I have for it is "Ward of the State".

In this story, being homeless is ... not exactly a crime, but it *is* an issue the state (of Norcal?) governor promised to "fix" as one of his campaign promises. Once he's been inaugurated, a law is passed, where anyone who is homeless is automatically declared a ward of the state, without regard to the age of the person.

You Are a Meany, Personal info, I am the Goat and We Are Made of Stardust

Hopefully, I am able to put a lot of information in this short blog. Here is an update on You Are a Meany. Chapter 30 has finally gone to the editor earlier today.
The delay comes from me making a decision in my personal life. I am starting towards a new career. When I go to the computer to write I end up looking up information about the choice. I want to find out as much information on it. In taking online classes and reading first-hand accounts of the issues of this profession I am finding out more about myself.

N.L. Paradox's Huge Stories

I happened upon the Author's stories while rooting around on Amazon. I do not know how old the stories are or where the Author comes from. The stories I've read so far are really large, 500 pages or more. They are well written and easy to read. I'm intelligent enough to interpret the sometimes colloquial terms for Transgender when to me, sometimes the person referred to is Intersex. I've been unable to find the Author anywhere but on Amazon. Is the Author familiar to anyone here? The stories pleasantly stand alone even if the TG references were not there.

Just a quick note about a pet peeve of mine……

As I was reading a story today - one I recently stumbled upon - I noticed an error which seems to be very common and always annoys me. Apparently many authors miss this one, or perhaps I should say many editors miss it.

Updates

Hey everyone, lots going on right now with me. First, I got the new laptop all set up and I'm working on writing or re-writing chapters since the hard drive from the old comp was toast. I posted chapter five of Cold Fey today to give you all a little something until I have more to post and I'll hopefully have chapter 11 ready to post on my Patreon tomorrow. I did write a short called Dude! that I posted on Patreon for now, for those who follow me there.

Update to A Life Forever Changing and new chapters incoming

I updated A Life Forever Changing as I found out new things about myself after my ultrasound showed a vaginal canal. My mom told me that I had a micropenis at birth (I've been diagnosed with that and hypogonadism since I was 12, but didn't know it went back to my birth). Since that story's my autobiography, I updated it with the newly learned info. I also updated it with the intersex tag.

:) yes I can do it !!

well it's Monday and the first of my self imposed posting deadlines. I managed it after tweaking the next ADA chapter is up. By goodness it feels so good to be writing regularly again. It's also getting the moose munching again, darned thing Prue left me with that image as well as maggie the kitten many years ago when I first started out writing.

The upshot of it is I have a story idea for a new story and universe floating around in the echoing caverns of my mind. I'll be working on the outline today.

Has Bike lost its attraction

I am beginning to wonder if Bike has had its day. It's interesting because when I stopped writing it for a year or two, I had regular pleas to start posting it again, but peculiarly, the people who lobbied hardest no longer seemed interested in commenting, so I presume they were no longer reading it. Comments are the only payment we receive as authors and I notice the number of reads and comments are dropping although the kudos stay about the same.

Do I continue posting Bike, or has it had its day? I am asking for your opinions.

Portraying religious and spiritual beliefs in stories

In the next chapter of the story I'm working on, some religious/spiritual practices are discussed for a bit. I've been sorta struggling on how to portray the scene in a way that feels honest and realistic, without coming off as preachy or heavy handed. Does anyone have suggestions on how to best portray that sort of content in stories?
