Interesting day

Well, today was an interesting day. First, I got a call from the local TS support group I belong to reminding me that there was a potluck dinner today. Trouble was, my brother and sister-in-law were also supposed to come over. I decided that since the potluck started at 430, and they were not supposed to come until 7, that i could go and still come back. But, I decided to leave a note for my mom that I was going to be coming home dressed as Dorothy, so if they had a problem with that, I could just skip showing up. But she phoned me to say they would not cause problems, so I came home.

Looking for a fashion/color expert :-)

Alright, so I'm not going to just post a picture of myself for anyone who clicks on TopShelf to have access to, but is there anyone out there with experience in color flow charts that would mind taking a look and telling me if my assessment (Deep Winter, though I used to be more of an Autumn) is far off?

Working on ruining my life?

I've been working on writing a letter that will "out" me to one of my sister's and my brother. I'm hoping things go well, but it's such a risk! I have to do it, though, for my own sanity. I hope they react well to learning they have a very ugly older sister than a big brother. I'm sooooo nervous!

Another "Looking For A Story" Thread

Fantasy and magical transformations edition!

But seriously, there's a couple of stories I read a long time ago I can't remember the titles of, though the stories themselves have really stuck with me, so if people can name them I'd be most appreciative. Hopefully they're as good to reread as they are in my head :P

There are wacky Allstate Insurance commercials where a man portrays a young teen girl. What's so funny is how macho he is. I am wondering why the company made them. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vtP-S9OS0o0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nFVpaQGltrI&feature=related

Snow

A peculiar noise woke me this morning -- the sound of snow sliding off the carport roof. We had about two inches of snow last night. It's bright and sunny now and well above freezing so the fluffy white stuff is not going to last till noon but I'm sure the people in the ski resorts on the mountains would rather have it up there than down here. :)

Rock Star Makeover, Part 2

(Author's note: Its probably a good idea to read part 1 first)

We walked to my house hand in hand. We didn’t say much, but the contact seemed to say all we needed to say at that moment. We went inside, and told my mom what happened. My brother came in the room in time to hear Gabbi tell my mom about the card, and he grinned.

“Pretty mushy, Noah.” He said.

“It worked. I got my girl.” I said, grinning back.

Gabbi slipped her arm around me, and said, “And I got my guy.”

Any word on how Karen_J's heart surgery went?

Just wondering if anyone had heard yet from Karen or her family about her Friday heart operation?

My dad was rather out of it for a couple days after his heart valve replacement so I understand why she wouldn't have had an opportunity or the energy to post any message after having multiple bypasses.

Here's hoping all went well and for a smooth recovery.

Well first off I think I need to change my name to Aria or something just to get closer to the top of the alphabet.

But that's just random thoughts.

Still not much movement on Crossroads BUT I have been having idea's flicker here and there so that's a good sign. Been working on a few other things but nothing that done enough to print.

All that sad admission of low productivity aside how ever I wanted to share a little list of things that i made. Specifically it's a list of things to avoid in stories.

I thought I did okay for a first retcon

When I first joined this site, I tried writing fan fiction it didn't go so well. I'm writing a retcon now but don't know if it's being received that well. I hope that it works so everyone enjoys it because I'm really putting a lot into it, listening to other authors and trying to take advice.
I expect my writing to be a little rough around the edges. But I hope it gets readers. And for any of those retconners out there who have trouble with my style, please give me time to learn. advice is always appreciated. Even if I don't follow all of it.

Trailer Park Baby Chapter 7

Chapter 7: Dave

Friday afternoon, I had tried to work some on all day, but my mind kept going back to what I was doing this weekend. Why had I ever agreed to spend the weekend dressed like a little girl? I thought for what seemed to be the hundredth time today. Quarter to five, her official office hours would be over in fifteen minutes, and then I would have to go over and spend the weekend with her. I killed some time playing solitaire on my computer. I couldn’t concentrate to do any work.

“You can't be serious!”

“Why not enter the contest? ”

“Well, duh, its for girls?”

“Doesn't say that anywhere. Says you have to be 15 or older, that's it.”

“Come on! I know you like Cathy Mason, and that the contest winner gets a meting with her, as well as a trip to Hollywood for the winner, their parents and a friend. But it also includes a new wardrobe, as well as a 'makeover'. You know, like makeup and stuff?”

He just grinned at me.

sorry for the delay, part 2

Well, the interview went well, and I will find out on Tuesday if I got the job. On the writing front, I am finding my little story may not end up being as little as I thought. Running at about 10 K right now, and showing no signs of slowing down. I may end up just posting part 1 and letting things get started. What do you guys think?

I Finally Solved The Problem With Sign Out

I finally solved the problem that caused my computer to spontaneously sign out of Yahoo. I found out that it was the AVG toolbar. I disabled all my add ons and then went through by process of elimination until I found the one causing the problem. I downloaded session manager too, so I can log off and come back the next day and continue reading stories from open tabs without starting over. I'm so happy I figured it out!

Holes

Just some thoughts of mine...

When i wrote my prologue for my first story here, I of course watched the comments roll in. I was actually surprised at the number of comments a simple prologue on a story that hadn't even been told yet, written by an author no one had heard from before, had received. Naturally the comments were a mix of Good/Bad. I did expect a few bad remarks, and one or two i felt i did deserve. But what got me the most i think were when the commenters tried poking holes in the story. One even went as far as to say that i had written in haste.

CHAPTER 2

After the shuttle landed and I rented a vehicle, we headed toward my home. I, hesitantly, turned to Karen.

“Uh, there is something I should tell you before we get there. I was essentially a girl before puberty.”

A request.

I just saw someone on here who might be an author of a certain "Great Shift" story. This one references Heinlein. If this is the same author where's the sequel?! I beg you, please finish it you "English Rose" sir. ;-)

Neolithic Transgender Burial Found

Remains of a man belonging to a late-neolithic, early-copper-age community outside what is now Prague were unearthed showing distinct signs of status as a "third gender."

Some of the fine details are a bit muddled in the press reports, which are apparently just copying each other and not going back to the source for clarification, but there is no question as to the main story.

Hum, maybe I could do something with the Plaid Lanterns?

You know that idea about aliens only knowing about Earth from our radio and TV signals getting a very twisted view of what we are like? What if a planet only learned of us from ONE broadcast of a Three Stooges film and for some reason they took it to heart as if WE were the superior race. Thus the origin of the Plaid Lanterns and their war cry ...

To ALL the authors writing in the Ret-Con Universe.

AND to all the authors of ALL the stories in general:

In lieu of separate comments, I have chosen this means to compliment every one of you for your inventiveness and skills. I've been a comic book fan since my very early years, particularly the Marvel brand, but I did dabble in the DC comics, so I am familiar with most of the DC superheroes and superheroines.

Trailer Park Baby Chapter 5 & 6

Chapter 5: Dave

I couldn't believe it. I just went to a movie and a restaurant wearing girl’s clothes and diapers and no one noticed. Not even Steve, I've known him for four years, and he held the door for us. Something was seriously wrong.

I went and looked into a mirror. I didn’t really look like a little girl did I? I didn't think so, but then again if I did I could really stick it to my father, the old bastard that he is. I should get a picture of me dressed up and send it to him, `From your loving Son.' That would piss him off.

Blindfold: First Sight

Blindfold: First Sight

Meet Blindfold. She's already female and won't be changing. Blindfold has definitely been retconed however. She's young and like Michael Valentine Smith or Mork she may look human but... Don't worry. The prologue is very formal but the rest definitely won't be. Blame the formality on Indigo-1. The bad jokes will be mine.

The Indigo Tribe is owned by Detective Comics and gratefully used here. The RetconUniverse is created by Lilith Langtree. This is a continuing retcon of the Indigo Tribe.

Discouraged :(

I'm feeling a bit discouraged with things as they are. I feel as if the Retcon interest is dying out. There are fans of this universe---I love them to death---but it feels like we're not picking up any new ones. A lot of us write these things and only a few us seem to be getting any real feedback from it. I didn't want to write this but its starting to get tiring writing things that only a handful of people seem to care about.

More news from me

First: The job is legitimately delayed. There's some sort of problem and they can't get the scheduling right. I was told by the guy who recruited me that my TS status has no bearing on anything, and that as long as I am the best rep for Dell I can be, things are fine.

Second: My Lady, MaryMeet is putting up a new story for Lilith's Retcon Uni. Go take a look if you want to.

Third: If anyone wants a DreamWidth invite code, I have a bunch. Send me a PM with your email in it and I'll get one out to you quick.

How long is too long?

I'm curious as to when a posting becomes too long? I'm using my Assassin series as an example. Most of the posts have been around twenty thousand words, but the last was thirty thousand and there was a dramatic fall off of readers. Part two is has the most clues as to where this story is headed and I wonder if readers are turned off by the length? Part three is ready to post and it too is over thirty thousand words and I wonder if I should be posting as chapters rather than parts? Personally I like longer stories, but how long is too long? I've finally got something done! Here is the synopsis.

Hi everyone.

I've managed to succeed in breaking through RL and achieve a first!

I have published a new novel......BEHIND THE ENEMY (Book 1) It is published through Amazon for Kindle readers at this time. I am hoping to put it on general eBook & paper release in the not too distant future. Book 2 is almost finished, it was going to be one very big novel, but I found it broke into two easily. I'm not convinced there won't be a third volume as well. We'll have to see how well they sell.

Earliest transgender person?

Archaeologists in the Czech Republic have discovered an unusual Bronze Age burial, where a man was buried like a woman. Of course the Daily Wail has made the most of it with the usual sort of nonsense, but the pictures and the facts which haven't been distorted are interesting.

Interesting day as Dorothy

If you had the chance to go out as a girl (assuming you don't for the sake of the image) what would you think of doing? Somehow, I doubt it would include what I did yesterday. I went to the bottle depot and turned in my empties. I do this to get "Dot money", but until yesterday, I wouldn't have done that dressed up. But I needed a lift after Monday, and I want to try out being Dorothy in ordinary circumstances I would have to do if I go out full time. Not only did no one comment on me, but when some of my bottles fell out of my bag, the man behind me helped me pick them up.

The armored knights of the Polish-Lithituanian commonwealth, in 1648/9 are fighting for the life of their country against a rebellion of the Cossacks and the Ukrainian peasants (my people), aided by the Tatars led by the Great Khan.
