I'm going to use this as a place to discuss search, how to use it and what people want to use it for.
A few things:
When you use multiple words in a search, the default is to perform an OR search. Searching for curly perm will turn up both curly and perm and will list first results that have both terms.
Searches are case insensitive. Perm, perm and PERM are all the same.
Searches are made for roots, so perm, perms, permed and perming are all the same. But permanent is a different word.
A plus symbol in front of a word in a search means that word is required so curly +perm will return only results that have some form of perm in them and will prefer ones that have curly, also. +curly +perm results must have both words though not necessarily next to each other.
A minus sign means do not include the following word in results so perm -curly would return results that matched perm but would not include ones that also had curly.
Quotes around a phrase will search for an exact match, but will still ignore case. "curly perm" will match Curly perm and lots of variations but both words in that order must be present.
Comments are regarded by search as part of the post.
The sidebars allow you to restrict searches to posts that match various criteria, like type of post, audience rating or authorship. At the top right is a sidebar that allows you to control how the search indexer orders results.
When we upgrade to Drupal 7, this will all change a bit but not drastically.

Joan begins a new career. A shopping trip with Mom ensues.The girls make plans for a birthday party and the two young teens continue falling in and out of love.

Marked by the Mob, our young hero and his mom flee to France where staying safe means taking on a whole new persona. There’s a story within the story when — who would have guessed? — our, uh, heroine helps out a gender-conflicted friend, but then the Mob catches up with uh, her. Does it all come out right in the end? Duh.

Our heroine meets a smooth-talking pilot, gets an update from her sugar-addicted friend Mel, attends a dance and learns something that shocks her, her singing 'hobby' continues to grow and Peepers's pin-up poster scheme picks up steam.
Our heroine has pre-dance jitters and talks with a friend, she visits an odd clothing boutique, meets an old relative, does the Security thing to some trouble-makers and becomes the target of Peeper's latest money-making scheme.
Joan finally hears from her father. In a moment of anger she writes him an email. Some things are better left unsaid. Plans are made for a therapy session with Dr. Vivian Raspberry.
Joanie does a "Tool Time" like Pamela Anderson, travels to Whateley's past to help out Operations, Pinky devises more trouble, and Joanie learns she's not the first mutant in her bloodline.
Our heroine recovers despite bad medical jokes and devises a plan to capture her attackers that gets her a reputation with the budding inventors on campus. Pinky's nefarious plan continues to fester.
Bridget learns more about Hell Mel and her exploits as he/she realizes that he/she will have to spend the summer as a girl. Funnier than it sounds. Hopefully.
