Crazy Core Gym, Upper East Side, New York:
Teela and Emily arrive at the address they were given. They looked at the building in front of them and couldn’t believe that it used to be some sort of warehouse.
“Are you sure you have the right address, Teela?” Emily looks at her friend.
“I’m sure. This is the address Jester gave me. She also gave me the entrance code as well.” Teela walked into the small foyer and noticed there was a metal keypad with black numbers and letters.
In this chapter, Emily navigates a day filled with grief and reflection as she bids farewell to her mother. Amidst the weight of the occasion, small moments of kindness and support from those around her offer glimpses of comfort and strength, helping her take the first steps toward healing.
I am sorry to post two chapters in such quick succession, but my muse has me gripped firmly by the soft parts and is insisting I move the story on. Some questions are answered here, many more are raised.

He was looking embarrassed. I simply stood and wondered if this was how one usually felt when one’s world ended. He looked at Geoff, and I could see cogs turning.
“Hi, I’m Dave Williams. I work with this young lady at Gatwick, and you are?”
Tho' things might be frightful
Right here it's delightful
We're cozy and out of the way
And as far as I'm concerned, it's a lovely day
We're posting our stories
And there aren't any worries
So I can honestly say
That as far as I'm concerned, it's a lovely day
And everything's okay
I could only sit back in my chair and groan while people cleaned up the mess I’d made on the carpet. The fact that the mess was the blood and brains of my former Chief of Staff was something I was doing my best not to dwell on at the moment.
It had been one month to the day since I had performed for Scott and he had offered me the chance to record a demo CD. In one month I went from being a nobody to having a number one hit and performing on a syndicated program like 'The Tonight Show'. It still amazed me at how popular I had become so quickly.
If it weren’t for one nagging problem, I’d say it was a perfect afternoon.
The nagging problem? It’s Andy. I’ve called at every opportunity and left a
dozen messages but he’s not called me back. I’ve also sent several emails from
my smart phone–he hasn’t responded to those either.
Where is that boy?
Chapter 50:
Family, Work, and an Unhappy Boyfriend
Tay’s kissing me and I’m just loving it. The smell of him, his taste, that little tickle scratch of his beard as we kiss and he nuzzles me. If you’ve never nuzzled or just gently rubbed faces with your SO I highly recommend it. You mix that along with some slow sweet kisses and it’s simply amazing. Makes you feel all mushy in just the right ways.
Oh…oh…he’s kissing my eyelids. I love the tenderness of that. If you haven’t another must.
Someone somewhere was playing a flute in that slippery seductive wail that I think of as Japanese. I waited an aeon for the first groan of my hangover to emerge before realising that I didn’t have one. That was a new experience, and rather a pleasant one. Brendan Behan could never understand teetotallers, he said. Imagine waking up in the morning and realising that was the best you would feel all day. I stretched out in my bag and heard a soft grunt. I had forgotten Kelly.
“...when the child has survived on this world for sixteen summers, the green star will fall from the heavens, heralding the beginning of the Fifth Age. Old powers will awaken, and new powers will rise to meet them. The Green will choose a new Elemental, and the King of the World will ascend to his throne.”
Jack was just an ordinary high school student, trying to get by the bullies and through his classes. But, all of that is about to change as a result of something that happened a long time ago.
Daniel Henderson has managed to beat the odds and been accepted into Kingston Academy, one of the best private high schools in the country. However, when Daniel is invited to take part in a special program, he learns that there's more to the school than he had thought...
NOTE: This story is loosely -- as in VERY loosely -- based on the manga/anime "Princess Princess." After the initial concept, any similarities are mostly coincidental, unless they aren't. (Puzzle that out why don't ya.)
Part 12: The Princesses shop (Thanksgiving Interlude 3)
Dick Gaughan is a man of passions that burn through a sparse, hard vocal style, and he knows the words that cut through your mind to the soul beneath and leave you in glorious pain. I always get emotional to his music, and now was no exception.
The Martian Manhunter and Miss Martian characters are the property of DC Comics.
The moon had the night off; the few widely-separated streetlights in this part of town had to work extra hard tonight, just to keep each other in sight through the humid darkness.
Lightning flashed over the city, making sudden shadows jump, the crash of thunder following quickly on its heels, rattling windows. Despite the imminence of the oncoming storm, it was largely ignored; anyone still trying to scrape a living off the dusty streets at this lonely hour wouldn't be put off by a few measly fireworks. They had more urgent things to be afraid of.
Me, for instance.
But tonight I was after bigger fish. I was pretty sure the bigger fish were after me, too.
Her eyes slowly adjusted to the light after a whole day of darkness. She took in the sights, floating limbs attached to a skinny female body and a corridor made of squeezed space with a laminated finish. The feeling of falling passed as she concentrated on the fold opening that was rolling around her.
The Fifth Age of Magic is at hand, and one young woman is destined to become the Sorceress Supreme. But prophecy is a tricky thing, and some feel they can manipulate the threads of Fate. This is the story of a demon who became a girl, a boy raised as a demon, and how their lives are about to collide...
I suppose I should get back to what’s happening now before readers start to drift away or die in droves after losing the will to live. Perhaps that is my fate, to be found frail and starving behind a barricade of deceased lovers of literary fireworks.
