“Why no sleep? I can see it in your eyes, trust me I’m a doctor and all that shit. Nightmares again?”

It’s taken more time than I’d have liked for the better part of the pain from getting shot in the leg to fade. Majik’s a wonderful thing but getting hurt it can really suck. There’s only a few types of mages that self heal well and I am not one of them. Plus I’ve a nice scar from the Demon Rapture shooting me with the .357 his meat-sack was wearing.

Chapter 65 Drying out

I was grateful to Kate for accompanying me and especially since it started to rain as we left the surgery. The warm spring weather had disappeared overnight and we were both unprepared as we ran to the car in a heavy squall of rain.

Kate was laughing as she opened the car door and I asked what was funny.
She said that I’d soon learned to run in heels and was surprised that I’d kept up with her.

CHAPTER 17
Of course they had to come round the next day for dinner, and that had to be arranged for a restaurant as we simply didn’t have the room, which meant a LOT of telephone calls to find somewhere that had space for well over twenty folk, and only the Parson’s Pig had space enough among all the office parties.

He was wearing a black suit identical to yesterday’s minus the damage from the fight with the renegade metahuman. “Hello ladies.”

“I’m glad to see you,” Asuna said. “Just let me get my sneakers on and hug my mom goodbye and I’ll be ready.”

People think having a twin is so cool. Well, I can't exactly say that's wrong, but, the stereotypes cloud people's minds, like thinking they can do weird things. For example, I was staring at my fraternal twin, Katie, when one of my not-so-good-but-I-still-don't-hate-him friends came up to me and said,

Winter arrived with a vengence, the first night we had a blizzard and woke to find the snow at least six feet deep.

We took the best part of a week clearing the snow to get to the livestock pens, meeting hall and homes with everyone pitching in.
