Re-engineered
A Short Story

Dominic Grady came from a long line of engineers, and he was smart enough to follow that line. Not as smart as others in his family, like his older brothers Rod (structural engineer) and Paul (environmental engineer), but smart enough not to let the family down.

Just a little idea I had while getting ready for work the other day that I thought I'd share.

Honestly, I think "but Jesus had long hair, so why can't I?" was probably where it all started. Or at least, that's where it began. Because the whole thing really started several years after that, or about six months ago, with my best friend Claire saying, in a fit of joking frustration while we were studying on the way home from school, "How are you so freaking good at German? Are you secretly an exchange student in disguise?" And like, that kind of stuck with me.

When I look back it's hard to say when I first noticed what was happening. After all, it was not some sudden and very obvious thing, it happened very gradually at first.

I think the first thing I noticed was that I was getting the beginnings of the dreaded "man boobs". For a very long time I was in denial of course, but eventually I reached a point where I could not avoid it.

Big Events

Charles is now at Jane's Winsome Girls' School for Wayward Boys. He has volunteered to become one of Jane's girls to help Jane not only clear his name but to help Francis. He has a lot to learn about being a girl in a short amount of time, as Toby Camber is arriving at the school in a weeks time. Something else occurs that Charles wasn't expecting, he learns something else about himself while being Charlotte.

Ollie gets reluctantly led along the path to girlhood,and makes a commitment.

Chris and his little cousin Lydia, now stuck in each other’s bodies, struggle to deal with the change. And Chris soon learns that the super-powered dangers of Faraday City look a lot more menacing from the perspective of a defenseless young girl!

This story is the direct continuation of my previous posting of the novel "The Wounded World." It is actually the second part of a single super novel. Sir Lukasz, aka Eden Blake, aka Mantra, has had a hair-raising adventure that seems to have occurred all in her mind over the period of a few minutes. She has taken Eden Blake's children home and put them to bed. But a few minutes later she has a knock on the door. When she sees who is there, she is very surprised. She's about to go off on a new adventure that will make the last one seem like a piece of cake.

Dad and I were nice guys. The kind of men who just want to please the people they love. What is wrong with that?

Mom and older my sisters were strong women. Mom always said that she knew what she wanted and that was to marry a man who adored her and would do anything for her. That would be Dad. She said that I was a chip off the old block and just like Dad, but I think that disappointed her. She wanted me to be more like her.

Hmmm... let's see... we seem to have a little bit of an epic here. Something that I have been saving for quite a while. Lotsa sex, high heels, day drinking, speeding, and of course a little bit of music. (But not until the end.) I am quite proud of this story, but I have to publish it so I stop futzing, ha... oh, and I so hope YOU like it...

How did I get here? I was lying in an alleyway, weak, cold, taking my final labored breaths with my killer standing over me. He was watching me with that blank stare, his mouth stained red with my blood.

Even as I lay there unable to move, I remember feeling angry, so very angry. It's funny what stays with you in those last moments. For most it's fear, for a lucky few it's acceptance and serenity. For me, it was rage.

I replayed the events in my head thinking if there was anything I could have done differently to avoid the sad, pathetic state I was currently in.
