I paused eating to watch the girls, well some young and some not-so-young women as they buzzed around taking care of the morning rush. One saw me watching and flashed a quick smile before grabbing the next order from the counter to hand out the drive-thru window. Almost everybody knew me, I was there every morning. Either stopping by on the way to work for a sausage & egg biscuit or stopping in and eating scrambled eggs and hash browns when I wasn’t working.

Chapter three

I woke up pretty early on Monday morning bathed then spent close to an hour applying makeup and making sure my hair was up to scratch before carefully getting dressed in my new white blouse and grey ladies suit, checking my appearance in the mirror every few seconds until I was fully dressed.

I laid eyes on you in late winter, early spring.
Now it’s late summer, early fall, where did the time go?
Watched you grow before my very eyes,
Saw you smile, laugh and cry.
With every movement or sound,
You learned how to turn my world around.
Now you’re with family far away,
And I miss you each and every day.

Chapter 1 - Renée talks to her sisters.

During the few hours that Renée was at the home, she had talked to the girls about the present she got Rachel and that she didn't want Rachel to know anything about it, until they got to the park. Everybody said it was cool that Renée had gotten the ice skates for Rachel.

There are some who say that I got what was coming to me, and hell, some of those people are me. But back then I sure didn’t think so, nor did I have any real expectation that it would all work out for the best. There was a time or three I even contemplated filling out my discharge papers with a 9mm. But smarter people than me restricted my access to firearms so I’m still alive to tell you my tale. Jeff’s sort of recovering and Holly is shocked and wiping her coffee off the table and her face but she’s got this look there too that is all OMG this might be interesting going on.

“Rikki, my daughter’s right fricking here y’know.”

“So, it’s not like she’s got virgin ears I’d say since she’s not that freaked out and I think she’s old enough to get that two consenting people can and do have oral sex.”
