SRS, The Nitty Gritty

A while back I got in a discussion about SRS on Youtube and a man commented on it. I wound up having an email exchange with him that led to a phone conversation. He was nice enough and said that he is a surgeon that has done the operation. He challenged me on one aspect of my operation. My Surgeon in Bangkok told me that he did the normal penile inversion technique, and attached one of my Vas Deferens tubes to the back end of my neo Vagina to provide Vaginal lubrication. My Neo Vagina is always moist and has the fragrance of Estrogen; sometimes leaving a white stain in my panties.

Historical event - a uterus transplant!

This amazing medical break through is sure to create a lot of interest on many levels. It should also stimulate CD/TG writer's story-lines. "For the first time in the United States, a woman who had a uterus transplant has given birth. The mother, who was born without a uterus, received the transplant from a living donor last year..."

Same sex marriage in Australia - at last!

Today was a special day in Australia. The same-sex marriage debate has been going on for years. Despite the fact that our Federal Parliament has to pass legislation to allow it, they insisted on a $120million voluntary postal vote of everyone on the electoral roll, and today the results were announced. 80% of eligible people voted, 61.6% voted 'Yes' and 38.4% voted 'No'. The Prime Minister has promised that legislation will be passed through parliament before Christmas. Finally, we have caught up with the rest of the Western world.

Historical event today: Danica Roem first openly transgender person elected

Today's election in Virginia is truly historical. The ripple effects of her election will be significant, long lasting and positive. Election is acceptance. "Virginia’s Danica Roem to be first openly transgender person elected, seated in a U.S. statehouse" - The election "... pitted a 33-year-old former journalist who began her physical gender transition four years ago against a 13-term incumbent who called himself Virginia’s “chief homophobe” and earlier this year introduced a “bathroom bill” that died in committee."

Georgie Stone, transgender teen

I was so pleased to read that 17 year old Georgie Stone has just been announced as the State of Victoria's nominee for 'Young Australian of the Year'. At less than eleven years old she was granted permission by an Australian Family Court to take hormone blockers. As a result, and her subsequent appeals for people like her, young transgender Australians no longer have to go through the expensive court process to take blockers, although they still need to do so to get hormone treatment.

I Voted for W

In 2000 I voted for W. My tendencies are quite liberal, but he seemed much better than more Clinton years via gore. This week I was reminded why I thought so highly of W. when he said the following.

"Bullying and prejudice in our public life sets a national tone. It provides permission for cruelty and bigotry and compromises the moral education of children. The only way to pass along civic values is to first live up to them."

We need to demand civil behavior.

Decline in insect numbers is worrying.

I know most readers here see me as a nature nut and always harping on about some crisis or other in the weather or the environment, but this latest report, upon which this very readable article is based is frightening. I suspect the worldwide picture is that insects are declining at an increasing rate due to the over use and abuse of pesticides primarily, and then loss of habitat. One cause human activity, especially industrial farming.

End of an era

This morning, a part of myself, died. As I awoken to the news that Gord Downie had passed away from glioblastoma (brain cancer), at the age of 53. Just 6 years older than I am. Upon hearing this, I broke down and cried for several minutes, holding Venus, my oldest Queen, to my chest. One way or another, the Tragically Hip have been part of my life, since 1991, when my then roommate introduce me to them, as we were both students at Carleton University, in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Just before they released Fully Completely. Hard to believe 26 years have passed since then.

The 'Tax' on being different

This video blog on the BBC is quite illuminating.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/world-41502661/100-women-i-tran...

Firstly, the narrator is Transgendered and a PHD.
She talks about the monetary cost of being a woman in business today.
She puts it at $250K over a lifetime. (how much worse will it be for M2F transpeople?)

apparent terror attack here

Well, imagine my surprise to wake up this morning and find out Edmonton suffered an (alleged) terror attack.

Details are still coming in, but so far it seems that no one was killed, but several people were injured including at least one police officer, and a suspect is in custody.

There will be those who use this as justification for bigoted attacks on immigrants or Muslims in general, but I believe most Canadians are smart enough to see through such things.

Still, positive vibes and prayers are appreciated, so keep em coming.

Transgender Hurricane

Watching the news out of a quarter-eye, as TS Harvey drenched the city, I saw several discussions of a rotating system at the southwest part of the Gulf of Mexico. The consensus was that nothing would come of it, but they were monitoring it just in case.

A couple weeks later: Hurricane Katia had formed from that system, and hit Mexico. Its remnants emerged into the Pacific Ocean and reformed into Pacific Hurricane Otis.

So I noticed something pretty awesome in my newsfeeds today...

Definitely something I'll be exploring for myself! I expect this will supplant the older surgeries pretty quickly judging by the preliminary results.

Just thought I'd share!

Another Page from 'Facts are Stranger Than Fiction'

I came across an article today about a discovery made while examining the remains of a Viking warrior. It seems DNA testing proves the warrior, buried with all the trappings due a warrior of note, was a female.

It seems the character Jennifer Ellis and I created in 'The Legend of Alfhildr' and the part of the story of how she was discovered is closer to the mark than even Jenny and I suspected.

an encouragement to give

Its been a bad year (or two) for disasters. Locally, last year we had a massive fire in Fort McMurry, and this year its British Colombia's turn to have terrible fires. In the states, California is also fighting fires, while Texas is just beginning the cleanup from hurricane Harvey, and apparently there is another hurricane building that is expected to hit Florida.

That's not even counting disasters elsewhere in the world.

Flooded - slowing my writing considerably

Well, it's been a while since I've managed to write anything, even on the Whateley site - because we got a bit flooded. As in water in the house. We had co-workers swarm in to get carpet and drywall out - now it's sorting lots of stuff to see what's ruined and what can possibly be saved. I haven't looked at national news in over a week - and it seems like it's been a month! And I haven't felt like writing in over a week, even though I have 2 really interesting stories bopping about in my brain.

Apology for an error I made in my Texas Blog.

Sorry, all, I did not mean to say "square miles" when I said 200 square miles; rather I meant the entire radius of the circle which brings it a lot closer to over 125, 000+ miles.
A close friend of my youngest son figured out the 9 TRILLION feet of rain water thus far, that if laid out "flat', would cover the entire US at a depth of 1.7" of water.

Gators, snakes and bayou critters! Yikes!

These critters are affected by this terrible flooding from Hurricane Harvey also. I've heard on the news that Alligators, snakes and other bayou critters have been flooded out of their normal haunts and are swimming around in the city STREETS. Yet another danger to those attempting to help and those fleeing from the floodwaters. I did hear that an alligator preserve was nearly flooded out and workers there were very much concerned that the flood waters would breach the wire fences that keep the gators penned in. Just one more reason not to drive or walk in flooded areas.

The hurricane flooding of Houston, TX and surrounding areas.

Hi all,
I learned this yesterday after listening to the Attorney General of Texas telling a news reporter how to describe the current disaster area within Texas.

He said to give a person an idea of the massive area size being flooded, here is how to do it; so for all of you who live elsewhere in the world or even the USA;
Find your own location on a map of your city or nation. Pinpoint it, then draw a circle radiating out 200 square miles (321.869 kilometers) in ALL directions of the circle.

THAT is how big the area is that is presently flooded in Texas.

Historical Moment for Cda

A historic moment, as Canada enters the 21st century with the federal government announcing it's introducing gender neutral passports for its citizens like Australia and New Zealand does, with the holder being able to select male, female, or 'x' for other as their gender selection. Replacing the old passport policy, which a transperson could only get a temporary passport in their chosen gender, if they were to have SRS done within a two year period and needed a doctor's note to accompany it, stating this. The new passport policy comes into effect August 31, 2017.

Why don't we support each other.

Today, at the very last minute I noticed how dark it was outside, so grabbing my ISO Eclipse glasses went outside, but had to return back inside to grab my tablet. Back outside again, I noticed a girl in a cute dress, with very nice hair that was slightly longer than a pixie a few of us were talking about it when I stepped over to the girl I had noticed and asked her if she had Eclipse glasses. She turned to me, responding with a baritone voice that she did and said, "now go harass someone else woman".

It has absolutely been worth this journey to live publicly as my true self. — Pat Manuel

An excellent read about following your dreams and working hard to be you. "A five-time amateur boxing champion whose biggest tournament ended in surrender, Manuel is just months away from his pro debut. - “I still have split seconds of not recognizing myself. But for the most part, I feel more comfortable than I ever have in my body,” says Manuel, who underwent gender-reassignment surgery, becoming the first boxer in U.S. history to fight first as a woman and later as a man.

Trump bans Trans people from US Military

US President Donald Trump today announced that Transgendered people can't serve in the US Military.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-40729996

This seems to be another rolling back the advances made under the previous president.

How very different this is from the British Military as some people who post here know from first hand experience.

Sad, so very sad.
