Transgender Day of Remembrance Nov. 20, 2016

The annual Transgender Day of Remembrance is November 20, 2016.

For my locality there is a rembrance service on Nov 19. It's quite an emotional experience. I urge everyone who can to check your local LGBT sites for local services. While heart wrenching, it's well worth the experience. Considering the potential political upheaval we all need to be aware.

Please... go if you can.

Honeymoon

Our president elect has been making conciliatory remarks about working together and leading the whole country. This is hard to believe, after the campaign, but I think we should give him a chance. Perhaps the weight of the office will make him act more like a human being.

There used to be a tradition of giving the new president, a honeymoon period to hit the ground running (I don't think Obama was given one).
I think it is a tradition worth renewing.

Presidential race

I couldn't really see a niche for this. But I'm not sure about most people. But, I'll be pleased when this is all over. Luckily living in the UK I've not had the same problem as most of my Countrymen. My Mother-In-Law bless her, I so love that lady. Said well thankfully it doesn't really concern us meaning Brits. But like I said well as our closest ally, I don't care what anyone thinks, we are close allies. It means a great deal to the UK who wins.

disaster

A day of extremes here in Yorkshire.

The positive - I'd been stressing over my income to cover the next month for a few days and a visit to the bank this morning cheered me up no end. There's enough to get me through the month if i'm careful and don't go mad eating or buying stuff. Why is this month tight? Well the trip to Austria pretty much used up every penny I had then a follow up of trips to London and next week's trip to Germany have ensured things remain very tight. After next week though I get a few weeks to consolidate things so things will become easier.

Stephanie Anne Lloyd - died September 2016

I am very surprised that there has been no comment about her death. As far as I know she had a significant impact on the access and visibility of the cross-dressing world in the UK with her shops, website and life. I do wonder why there has been no response from the folks of BCTS.

Terra Madre

I am off for a few days.

Tomorrow morning at just after stupid o'clock, when it is at least light, we are driving down to Italy.

Although only 320 kilometers (200 miles) it will take 4 plus hours, since we have to negotiate the second highest mountain pass in Switzerland. So we will stop for lunch, I expect, and take even longer.

Some Decency In The Porn World

Ran into this on fb. The day after Alexis Arquette died, a former boyfriend of hers started hawking a sex tape to various media sources. The porn media mega site xHamster paid $25,000 for it, and after insuring there were no other copies out there, destroyed them. I'm never going to be doing business with them, but isn't it nice that there are people out there willing to do the right thing even when it costs them a large chunk of money?

Thank you, gentlemen.

Link between OCD and grief?

Saw an interesting article in the latest issue of "McCleans" about OCD and grief. Seems this mother noticed that her son's OCD started soon after the kid's grandfather died, and eventually got a lot better once he processed his grief.]

What do you guys think? Is there a link between OCD and grief?

Transgender Pine-Richland Student: ‘I Really Don’t Feel Safe’

http://pittsburgh.cbslocal.com/2016/09/15/pine-richland-tran...

I think this is a further example of the Trump effect. Making derogatory speech normal. Leading to more open displays of bigotry. Well worth watching the video, Juliet is quite well spoken and impressive all around.

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — Juliet Evancho‘s world turned upside down Monday night after a vote in the Pine-Richland School District.

for those who might be interested

As you might recall, two weeks ago I pushed to the edge when I rode the Otztaler Radmarathon. Well today things were a little less stressed when I rode the Eddy Merckx Classic near Salzburg. (I won't bore you with the bit in between). Cycling bore that I am, I completed the 169km through the Salzkammergut in 6.5 hours almost exactly half the time I was in the saddle a fortnight ago.

To Boldly Go...

To everyone here, I would like to say Happy Star Trek Day!

Today, on September 8, 1966, Star Trek premiered on NBC with the episode, "The Man Trap." 50 years later, Star Trek still thrives and endures. Boldly going and continuing to break barriers along the way, and all over the heads of the network censors (seriously, they actually did that back in the '60s).

So, may you all Live Long and Prosper!

Ipswich Hedgehog Officer .....

As an enthusiastic reader of "Easy As Falling Off A Bike" aka "Daily Dormouse" I can't help but find this article as charming as the title suggests.

"A British woman now holds the world’s most charming job title: Hedgehog officer"

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/animalia/wp/2016/08/29/t...

Wonder if there is a dormouse officer?

Emma Finn

Many here will have read some of Emma Finn's quirky stories. She had her own web site which I visited regularly, mainly to follow the expansion to her transformation story 'Cleaner'. Sadly, there was a message when I visited it a few minutes ago that she died on the 19th of this month.

She was a unique writer with a her own angle on all types of transformation and she will be sorely missed by her fans of which I include myself.

The last message can be read here : http://transformation-stories.blogspot.co.uk/

new health worries

I have been trying my best to make this blog super positive lately, and it helps that some good stuff is going on, but as the point of this little exercise is to be honest, I do have to share some not-so-positive stuff.

Right now, my biggest worry is my health. Now my pain levels have been slowly increasing again after a period of leveling off, but that's not really what's new.

'About a Girl' on Australian Story

This is for Australian readers because sadly I don't think the programs are available in other countries. If anyone missed 'Australian Story' on ABC television on Monday evening 15th August, it was about a 16 year old and remarkably mature transgender girl called Georgie and her attempts to make life easier for other transgender teens in their battles with the law and prejudice. She has a twin brother, but from a very early age she was absolutely sure that she was a girl. Lately she has 'come out' at her very supportive Melbourne school.

congratulations

To the Team GB track riders.

After Froomey's bronze we were waiting with bated breath and they've delivered and in some style! World records, gold medals - it looks like the avalanche is about to begin!

Maybe it's the new even rounder Italian wheels but I think it's three Weetabix!

Transgender woman refused female pension.

Interesting article in the Guardian which is about a transgender woman who stayed married and thus never got female legal status and so missed out on the right to a pension. It has been referred to the European Court for an opinion.

I'm so glad this didn't happen to me.

Lea T leads in the Brazilian team at the Olympics

I'm probably the last one catching up on this, but I read that Brazilian transgender super model, full name Leandra Medeiros Cerezo who goes by the name of Lea T was riding the decorated bike that led in the Brazillian team during the opening ceremony. There are plenty of pictures on-line.

Advance warning!

For all those impatient Gabfen out there, the first part of Gaby - Seasons, the 17th Gaby tome, will be available through the usual sources tomorrow!

If you can stand to wait, it might be October before the complete book is done due to a three week trip to Austria coming up shortly.

I'll post another chapter of book 12+1 tomorrow - at the current rate there are over 3 years of weekly postings just to catch up to the present which would then be the past and likely the same again etc. With that in mind you may well get 2 chapters a week at least this side of my trip.
