sexual assault survivor slams anti-trans group for co-opting her story

“I refuse to allow anyone to use me and my horrific sexual assault to cause harm and discrimination to others...”
,

On March 5th of this year Kelly Herron was assaulted in a park bathroom in Washington state and badly beaten as she fought off her would be rapist and captured him for the police.

Weeks later a friend called her and told her that a group (Just Want Privacy) trying to pass another one of these anti-trans bathroom bills in her state was using photographs of her battered face as proof of what allowing trans people use the "wrong" bathroom would lead to. The group hadn't asked her, and she was really really pissed off at being used by them to promote a bill that she is 100% against and has nothing to do with her being attacked by a cis male rapist.

Woman's Hour, Jenni Murray in hotwater

For an article in the Sunday Times she wrote in which she apparently suggested that transwomen are not real women. It got a mention in the Guardian and some of the comments are more interesting than the article.

For those who want to see the Guardian article: https://www.theguardian.com/society/2017/mar/05/jenni-murray...

I haven't actually yet seen the Sunday Times article which is behind a paywall. Thanks Roop!

A scientific report posted on FB as a comment to a transphobe.

I have simply cut and pasted, The following is taken from an FB post ...

I just commented this on a transphobic post that was all like: "In a sexual species, females have two X chromosomes and males have an X and a Y, I'm not a bigot; it's just science."

Life Imitates Art (Almost)

A while back I had a throwaway line in my story Blinding revelations.

"I must have still been high from buying my own dress, because I headed right into the lingerie department without a second thought. Hell, this is Wal-Mart - if they sold whole cows no one would blink if you threw a side of beef, dripping and bloody, into your cart and toddled through the registers. Well, maybe the guy who had to clean the floors might object, but a boy buying a bra, ho-hum!"

A mandate from the Prez... " Dress like a woman"

"But darling the President said to do it! I just want to 'look the part'." - Maybe he has stock in nylon stocking & cosmetic manufacturing companies. "Look the part" he said.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out. A dress code for females... nice ties for the males. Does this sound fair? May as well have fun with it, eh?

No more Southern Comfort Trans Con?

It came to my attention this evening that The southern Comfort Transsexual Conference is no more!

http://www.tgforum.com/wordpress/index.php/the-southern-comf...

I attended in 2009 and it was a life changing event for me.

The Con had relocated from Atlanta Ga. to Ft. Lauderdale, but apparently there were some lawsuits that have ended the Con that had been a fixture for Trans folks for 26 years!

In dire need of a proof reader!

I really don't want to sound needy or pitiful, but I truly need a proof reader. I am a novice writer, retired and in my mid sixties. So, now have some time to write the type of fiction that I loved to read for most of my life. Although years of writing clinical notes has killed most my grammar skills, that I am just not starting to remember. So if you have time and patience to work with and old novice please let me know.

Thanks,
Warm Hearted

"Doctor" claims Trans people are just autistic

Yesterday, my local paper had an article about a "doctor" who thinks trans people are just autistic with a "fixation" on opposite gender stuff.

I'm 100 % sure the anti-trans people - especially the "Christians" will latch on to this guy so that's gonna be fun ...

My prizes for the Christmas Contest

After due delibaration and contemplation, I have come to a decision.

Cue drum roll....

First Prize goes to
• Lost and Found by Julie D. Cole

Second Prize goes to
• Ghost Gift by Dorothy Colleen

Both of these are IMHO right on the nail when it comes to 'The Spirit of Giving'.

The money will be on its way tomorrow according to the wishes of the authors.

Cerulean Sins Anita Blake book 11 by Laurel K Hamilton.

Does anyone happen to have the audiobook for this, because it has been discontinued by the publisher and I am having a hard time finding it. I started to listen to what I have when I realized how much is missing and its driving me crazy, that I also can't find it online. Thanks.

"Transgender Kids: Who Knows Best?"

On Thursday evening (BBC2 9pm) a programme will be aired in the UK that will appeal to transphobes across the planet. Discredited Dr Kenneth Zucker is quoted as an expert concerning young (pre-teen & teen) transgendered children. One suggestion is:
“A four-year-old might say he wants to be a dog. But do you go out and buy him dog food?”

Mermaids is said to be very concerned and were not asked to participate in the programme.

Possible delay in awarding my Christmas comp prizes

Just a heads up to say that there might be a delay in the awarding of my extra prizes winners for the Christmas Competition.
My 94 years old Mother was admitted to Hospital last night. The Doctors don't really know what is wrong with her at the moment.

I've read every entry at least once and was in the process of producing a shortlist when this happened.

Apologies

Broken Heart Syndrome

I was watching the news last night on the local FOX affiliated station. Much to my surprise they were interviewing my cardiologist. He was explaining “broken heart syndrome” in connection with Debbie Reynolds' death.

Not too many years ago he had given me the same explanation. We were in his office going over my medical history, including my family’s health.

I had told him that my father had died in his sleep from a surprise heart attack. Less than a week later, my mother, who had not displayed any heart problems, died from a “heart attack.”

Prostate Removal During SRS

In a conversation I just had with an ER Doctor, he asked me if during my SRS surgery, had the surgeon removed my Prostate Gland? Back in 2007, when mine was done, I do not think they were doing that because it was felt that the proceedure was too dangerous to the nerves and blood vessels.

Apparently some or all surgeons are now doing it orthoscopically as a part of SRS. Are any of you aware if this change in surgical procedure has been implemented or is the ER Doctor wrong?

Paranormal org debuts daft theory

A paranormal organisation who have managed to pick up thousands of online followers (Spiritual Research Foundation) have debuted their own daft theory on the predominant cause of homosexuality - posession by ghosts and "subtle-sorcerers" from hell. They apparently believe most gay men are possessed by female ghosts, and lesbian women possessed by male ghosts (!).

NO Pants !!!

In talking with my Doctor, he finally sussed out that I am not a genetic female, much to my surprise that it took him this long. I've been very ill the last two months with Pneumonia, a UTI and intestinal flare ups.

In talking to me about ways to prevent more Urinary Tract Infections, he said to avoid pants, pantyhose, leggings and to use only cotton panties; none of the pretty stuff. He further recommended a full shower after riding my bike, even casually, and no baths; showers only. He also said to use baby wipes after every trip to the loo.

Real Stories without endings

Stories without endings. I live in a city with a major state university. Listening to my scanner today there was a call for a welfare check. People were reporting a girl on the parking garage at the union that seemed out of it. She wouldn't respond to people and she had 'an odd look in her eyes'.

The university police responded to the garage and the first one on the scene reported she was standing on the top rail of the top deck of the garage. A fall from there would be three stories down to concrete.

Worries of UK parents with TG children

It appears after the child of a divorced parent was removed from her custody because she allowed the child to dress as a girl has encouraged other separated or divorced parents to challenge the diagnoses of transgender children and the custody of the child with the sympathetic parent.
