Definitely something I'll be exploring for myself! I expect this will supplant the older surgeries pretty quickly judging by the preliminary results.

New GRS procedure
Wow, I certainly wish that they had had a surgery like that when I had my GRS surgery back in 1999!! I sent an email with the link to my GRS surgeon, Sanguan Kunaporn in Thailand.. maybe he will take an interest in learning the technique as well.

But I think this surgery can replace or supplement an existing GRS.
Sadly I had mine done in 2001 too. I am just too old to justify the expense and I really hate dilating for that matter. It is a constant reminder of it being 'artificial'.
OTOH, my company's health plan does cover GRS.

Yes, I do believe it could supplement an existing GRS but as with you I'm just too old to justify it again also. In my case nothing was paid for by insurance, every dime came out of my pocket. *sigh* That's one of the reasons I went to Thailand, the costs were WAY less than what it would have been here in the states and they had a state of the art hospital (as well equipped as any in the US at that time) there in Phuket.

I could get wet, really, truly. I couldn't flood the bed and make a wet spot (of vaginal secretions), but I lubed nicely.
3 months post-op, 1st BF, very skilled and experienced, knew what he was doing. One evening he comes to the door (after driving to Tempe from Tucson) I hug him, kiss a lot, walk to the BR and we take off our clothes. We'd been together 6 - 8 times. He said, "I think you should be wet enough" I said OK. No foreplay or even checking. He went right in; we were fine and had a great time.
In a reproduction track diagram, once, I saw some small glands that add fluid to the semen, sort of above the base of the penis. Maybe Dr. Biber hooked them up or maybe something else was going on.

So, what are you suggesting then, that patients who will have surgery in the morning just go through with it as they might have the same result as you?
So how many years post-op are you?
Anyway, this does place alot of TS girls in a quandary, especially if they already have deposits and other expenses already paid up front.
In the short term, GRS surgeons will lose business until they can learn the new technique.
I'm surprised people are not more excited
This is a Major Deal. No dilations I think. No need to lube, sex is far more spontaneous!
Cheese and crackers there are fewer t-girls on the operative track here than I expected.
I wish...
I wish I could be... but, there're two reasons I'm not: I'm not on the operative track not because I don't want it, but can't afford it. And while this "advancement" is certainly great, and a helluva lot better than penile inversion or the colon crap, we're already capable of better... Why aren't people putting this much effort into growing us the real thing? They can. So why aren't they even trying to research it? Clearly, advancements CAN be made, or this advancement wouldn't've ever been researched either. So why is it that growing us real ones is specifically off the table?

It's not letting me edit that comment, though I kinda need to for clarity... Well... I'll just have to clarify like this. "advancements CAN be made" is referring to the political will, not the technical knowledge. And yes, growing us real ones IS already technically possible and has been done for women identified as women at birth whose vagina's were not working properly for various reasons, among which were CAIS women, as in, women somewhat like us in that they aren't XX either.

Plain old economics
Cost would be huge as development costs would have to be amortized over a fairly small population. So without a good return, why would a company do it? For that matter, can a genetic male cell create those organs?
Whether you can afford this tech or not is irrelevant at this point. Once more doctors do it, like those in Thailand, it will be more in reach. If the tech were not there at all, then the cost of such a thing would be the hypothetical infinite money wouldn't it?

Clearly, it can. CAIS women are genetic males whose bodies do not respond to testosterone at all and thus they develop as female. Just put the cells in a vagina mold, give them estrogen and progesterone and NO testosterone, and they'll likely develop properly.
As for cost... they're researching it for what has to be an even smaller population size: people assigned female at birth whose vagina's aren't working properly... Why not us? We may be a small population compared to the at-large population, but we're doubtlessly a larger pool than the population of born women with malfunctioning parts.

Yes the default in genetics is female if caught in first trimester a genetic male with CAIS can be come a female that can produce children like any other woman just needs the right hormones at the right times. Have a good day and enjoy life.

Actually...
CAIS women are infertile, actually. The vagina is complete, whole, and normal, some even have a womb, but they do not produce any ovum during development.
