Oops!

Oops!

By Allison M

I peeked round the curtain and watched mum's car pull out of the driveway, I'd managed to convince her that I would be perfectly alright at home for an hour or so; she was only running a few errands after all. And besides, I was 14 now and 'all grown up.'

A quick message

Part three of my story Hell yeah it hurts has been sent to Holly Logan for editing.I'm still experimenting trying to post my story here but I'm just not able to copy and paste outside of my documents or office 2007.It's frustrating that I can email it to anyone with office 2007 but I can't post it.Hopefully soon I'll get it figured out and thanks for all the support and to anyone who has dared to

Elizabethan Language Fun !

Hello Ladies:

After a conversation with my estranged son, I have walked around for two days with tears in my eyes and finally I decided that I had to do something to pull myself out of the pity party.

Well, I have discovered Elizabethan Language. It is so waaaay cool.

So, if any of you wish to address me in Elizabethan English, I would be terribly pleased !

SecondShelf Test Site

Bob Arnold has prepared a test site for making sure that BC will run without problems on a new server with updated infrastructure software (LAMP). Please, take a look, read a few stories there and help us test it. You can't create new accounts there and only editors can post new material because new posts at SecondShelf will all go away when we re-install it later in the week. If you find problems, come back here to TopShelf and PM me or Bob. :)

Modern Dwarf?

Edeyn A dwarf. I'm talking a bona fide, Tolkien dwarf, just walked out of my office. Short, had the build, a full beard, the scottish accent... but she was wearing pink hotpants, stilletto heel boots, and a tube top... That was surreal.

I think I totally need to compile a collection of, Tales From the Tax Office, at the end of April. Even if there's no TG content, it could be a durn good read...

My Mother Has Died

My mother passed away yesterday evening in the hospice. My father, my wife, and I were in attendance at the time. Her last couple of days were so hard, that it's truly a relief to see her at peace at last. Now, the focus turns to my father. We need to keep him busy, and engaged, and dealing with the outside world.

"You certainly owe me and your mother an apology," he said. "If you wanted to do this, you should have called and told us before you did it."

"Would you have said yes?" I asked.

"No," he replied. "I wouldn't."

"It was pale yellow," she recalled. "I could sort of see it through the dress."

"Uh, it wasn't a bra," I replied. "It was a bathing suit."

"Oh," she laughed. "A bathing suit?"

I sighed. How much was I going to have to admit to?

Professor Prick 3 - Nikki to the Rescue

While she was doing my face, Margo was working on my hair; with some curling tongs she put a slight curl on my fringe at the front and bottom of my hair. Lesley finished off my eyes with black mascara before outling my lips with a deep purple lip liner and then filling in the remainder of my lips with a pale lilac lipstick. Finished with my face both girls let me have a look at their creation. Looking back in the mirror was a very attractive seventeen year old–in fact I even fancied myself!

She is still alive!!!!

Sigh. Yes I am still alive and kicking for any and all who really gives a rats arse or have even heard of me which I don't think either of the above is likely. I am the proprietess of Beverly's Balcony, which has been around for a number of years in all it's disfunctioning and picturesque glory. I have even been registered user and silent participant of other sites including this excellent one.

Rules Are Rules: 19. Remedial Girly Stuff

It was a nice evening, and Jerry walked me home. He put his arm around my shoulders and steered me so I could dig into the bag. There was a little coral-colored teddy bear, a brand new Barbie, and a small baby doll.

"Ah," Jerry said, as I showed him my presents, "It's remedial, you know? She's trying to get you caught up on the girly stuff you missed."

So much for a productive break

Blwyddyn Newydd Hapus

In my last blog post I was looking forward to a long productive holiday back at home in Wales, with everything I planned to write laid out ahead of me... oh dear.

I've spent the time reading... my childhood favourite Enid Blyton largely, just the school stories though, which has given me an idea for a short homage.

Do you need your work proofed?

I have decided to try to be of some help here at BC, so I am going to offer to proof writer's stories for them. I just want to say up front that I am NOT an English teacher, but most people tell me that I write like a professional (Doncha just love to be flattered?), so I would love to help out.

"Come on, Chapters!" she scolded, "Nobody gives a bleep about your bleeping height!" (Yes, she really did say "bleep" and "bleeping"!)

At that time my name was Craig Adams; I was born in 1971 in a small town just under 10 miles from Glasgow. In my years at Primary school I was very much a loner and I struggled to make friends. Around the time I was due to start secondary school my mother discovered that my dad was having an affair with a woman at his work. They split up and divorced soon afterwards. With all this change going on I decided to implement changes to my own life.

I resolved to become more outgoing and get some friends into my life.

Some dark poetry

Please let me assure you that I am not suicidal. This is something I wrote when I was absolutely dismayed about the revelation that I was transgendered. I think many of you will identify with the feelings.

Once you think your goals are meet
Evil men entangle your feet
You are then beset by strife
They make a shambles of your life

You become that which you feared

Young Love, Chapter 3

"My name is --- ah, my name is ---," Lizzie Jane stopped for a moment, seemed to go into deep thought and then exclaimed, "I don't know! I don't know who I am!"

"We are not far from the truck stop. Maybe some food will help. Remember, I will be buying. Oh, by the way, when was the last time you ate?" asked Joe.

"I don't know that, either," said Lizzie Jane. "I know it has not been recently.".

I'm glad to say that nothing wild happened in church. No one recognized me; there were no slapstick moments. I think Miranda was a little disappointed, until we ran into the odious Robert outside.

"Hey, baby," he said to me. "Did you get my little gift?"

"Don't call me 'baby'," I told him, "and yes, I did get it."

1000 hits and still no love for "a cop story"

I want to say thank you to all of those of you who have taken the time to read the schlock I've writen. (Yes, I know that's a bit of self-degredation, but I lack self confidance.) The only thing that puzzles me, is that in the first thousand reads of chapter 1 of "A Cop Story" no one has left any comments about the story. *shrugs* Oh well, I guess you all didn't like it that much.
