Sapphire just relayed news via TG Fiction mailing list from Nanomage's sister Kat, her brother died about a week ago of heart failure. He had several ongoing health problems.
I had not seen Nano or Kat in more than five years but we had met several times in Orange County to play DnD-type RPGs. I considered them friends and I'm sorry I had not managed to reconnect with them after Jeanne's health problems began.
Nanomage wrote thoughtful, imaginative pieces on several websites, and I think, some newsgroups. In person, he had a sunny disposition and enjoyed talking about just about anything. His sister Kat makes an interesting DM who is more interested in having fun than bothering with a complicated rulebook.
None of Nanomage's writings are on BC, as far as I know. I'm not sure where they are but they are worth looking for.
Even though I had not seen or talked to him in years, I miss him. A very small bit of the magic has gone out of the world.
Hug someone you love,
Erin

Oh wow, I used to chat with
Oh wow, I used to chat with Nanomage a *long* time ago (like, maybe 8 years ago?). I'm sad to hear the news, he wrote some really good stuff and he was always fun to talk to. It takes a pretty big impression to last in my crappy memory that long, and Nano definitely made one. He'll definitely be in my thoughts. He definitely brought something special which will be sorely missed now.
Sad as this news is, thank you for sharing it, I am glad to have the memories I do of Nano, and he deserves to be remembered.

The loss of one, lessens us all.
Erin, you and all those who knew Nanomage have my deepest sympathies. I read some of Nano's stories over at Fictionmania and he seemed to be a very capable writer. I don't recall if I ever actually chatted with him.
His talent will be missed by everyone, and his presence will be missed by those who knew and loved him.
R.I.P. Nanomage. You will be remembered.
With deepest sympathies and condolences to his friends, fans and family

As a T-woman, I do have a Y chromosome... it's just in cursive, pink script.
