“Josie,” I said again, taking a step backward from the fuming blonde in the doorway. Despite her petite stature, she looked ready to tear one of my arms off so she could beat me to death with it.

Still glaring at me, she stepped across the threshold into my house, and immediately slammed the door closed behind her. For a few seconds, she just stood there, the fires of perdition burning in those big blue eyes.

Jamie has a plan and Nana agrees to test the first hypothesis.

“You two look exhausted,” Priya said as Luke and Lucy sat down at their usual table in the Student Union bar. “I don’t need to guess why, do I?” The Indian girl bit her lip as her two friends both shook their heads.

“Ugh,” Luke sighed, sharing a knowing glance with his sister. “Never mind ‘back from holiday’, I feel like I NEED a holiday.” Luke allowed himself a smile as his friends Gavin and Susie smiled sympathetically.

Simon slept poorly that night. He tossed and turned all night. He never felt this way about Stacy. What was wrong with him? He was a monster. He used his money and power to trick men into acting and living as women. Was he some sort of demented wannabe Dr. Frankenstein?

As Grandfather Kim suggested, Christie spends some time meditating on her concerns before proceeding home to explain her and Charlie's actions to her Mother and Grandmother.

Dear mum,

I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for the love you have given me throughout my life. I know the sacrifices you have made to raise me and my brothers. The long hours you worked to put food on the table. Scrimping and saving to take us away on holidays.

Now that I’m old enough to understand you explained that dad never wanted children. Which explains why he rarely came on holiday with us. Why he never did things with us like our friend’s dad’s did. I can forgive him that. I understand now people want what they want.

Chapter 4.

The Pemberton Mall was the premier shopping destination of Vicksburg, Mississippi. The mall had been named in honor of the confederate general who had commanded all southern forces stationed within the city during the heroic forty seven or so day siege the city had endured. His name was John C.

Christie faces the end of her trial, but even as she finds answers to many of her questions, only to uncover that not all the answers are to her liking. Her verdict will determine who will face the future. The morning after dawns shedding light on new questions. In the end, the young sorcerer must seek the advice of family and friends along with the wisdom of Sa Bum Nim, Grandfather Kim, for answers.

One Hour Later:
Jennifer, Arabella, and Gina had shown up after Tammy called her for support. Jennifer and Arabella were wearing sundresses and low heels. Gina showed up dressed in black two-inch heels, black dress slacks, and a deep purple silk blouse. Her long black hair was tied back into a ponytail.

The girls were looking at Nyx in her Mandalorian-style body armor. Arabella was fascinated with its design of it. She had heard about some LARP groups that have formed clans that were in certain cities.

For now, these hot days, is the mad blood stirring.

I stared blankly at the GCSE exam past paper on the desk in front of me, then at my watch for perhaps the fiftieth time this lesson, then out of the window where the sun was streaming down onto the tarmacked playground below. Only a few minutes to go now, a couple of hours to kill at the library, and I could go home and escape. For a few hours anyway. I’d been planning it for weeks. My stomach had been turning butterflies all afternoon in anticipation.

Christie's first chance at completing the sorcerer emergence trial is less than 48 hours away. But first, there are family traditions that Mom Amanda and Grandmother Rebekah want to share with Christie.

Saturday arrives, and a reflective Christie shares some intensely special moments with her friends - even the ones who don't know precisely how special this day will be.

Aye, it is a heavy burden to have the fate of an entire nation borne upon your shoulders. More so when that nation has such a fine tradition of bravery and resourcefulness. Surely the Scots are special folk. I only wish that their hero could have been strong enough to live up to the expectation.

Visiting Valerie and verifying the previous night's shared experiences. Then Christie heads to class at the dojang where she has a minor meltdown crying on Papa's shoulder.

Chapter 51

Anxiously Lisa watched the clock tick on, hoping that the syringe Linda had arranged would arrive in time. The clock ticked way too fast to her liking and with every passing minute the chance of that syringe arriving in time grew slimmer and slimmer. Sure it was to be expected, Linda had told that she doubted it could make it in time, yet she had put all her hope on exactly that.

“Okay, just a few more,” the photographer says to me as I pose in my designer jeans and t-shirt. “That’s great Ian, look this way, try to stand a bit straighter so we can see the logo clearly.” I do as I’m told and hold a subtle smile on my face as the camera takes photos of me- or rather, the clothes I’m wearing. “Okay, I think that’s everything. Thanks Ian, I’ll you have the rest of your Saturday back!”

Private Airfield, San Francisco, California:
Leland drove like a possessed man on a mission. Tammy and Nyx were bracing themselves as he weaved in and out of traffic. Tammy looks at Leland “you can slow down, Leland.”

“He already has a big advantage on us, Tam.” Leland’s cat wanted the bastard.

“He may, but if we get killed on the way there. It won’t do any of us any good.” Tammy wanted to get to the airport in one piece.

“Don’t worry sweetie. I’ll be more careful.” Leland slows down some.
