“Are you certain this is the right path?”

Two figures crept down a narrow underground passageway, shoes slipping across shallow puddles lining the curved concrete floor. Their coats, one jet black and the other a lighter brown, flickered in the weak light offered only by a white crystal held forward by the taller and much darker-skinned man.

“They didn’t provide a map, Callas. I told you the same instructions they told me, and your memory is as perfect as mine. If you think we’ve misapplied the sequence, you should’ve spoken up.”

“Hmm.”

I have been reading TV literature for about twenty years now, and one thing I have noticed is that there seems to be an aversion to speaking about bodily functions. (No, I will not descend to the level of toilet humor, thank you. For that you can watch cable TV.) This always seemed to me rather odd, as we put so much effort into changing our bodies. Way back when, when I was experimenting with creating a more feminine figure, I would have loved advice on how to do it, but such intimate details were not available.

My friend Larry had told us about a seminar at the university, to be hosted by Dr. Grunewald, that dealt with cross-dressers and homosexual people. It was going to be held this Friday and Saturday. And the paper that Larry, who is an undergraduate student, had written for a psychology class was so good that it was going to be presented. This paper was about me.

Dr. Grunewald was the psychologist that had helped me when I was attacked on campus. When she had hypnotized me, she had a big surprise, she met Tammy and talked with her through me.
