The last month made me realise I am not doing that good healt (mostly mental) wise. I don't have any 'reserves' or coping mechanisms (used to just go on long gaming sessions to relieve frustrations but no more gaming setup).

If I didn't have the pets or the internet I wouldn't know where I'd be.

The fact that a part of my bankruptcy problems is 'solved' (or will be as soon as I get the paperwork) has helped with it, Bbut I need a real goal to work to.

I have an interview Friday!

No point in counting chickens before they hatch, but past experience with interviews has been good for me so I have high hopes for this one. If things go well I may be employed again before the month is out, and in a job that (hopefully) will be easier on me than my last one, if admittedly still a stressful one. Still, it's a desk job, with part of my interview being a typing test which, hopefully, I can pass with flying colors :P

If I can land this job I already have a plan in place.

It looks like I will be building a new computer.

The motherboard, it seems is better toasted than we had thought. While it boots to BIOS fine upon pulling my CMOS battery there was a nasty burn ring on it, and trying to boot a few different Linux distros from USB returned issues every time, with the system trying to boot in only to start throwing errors and then crashing.

I'd known it was coming for a while. At least two years, in fact, ever since we had to do the graft after the last failure, but it was still a terrible moment when it happened.

That's right, folks: the PSU in my desktop finally died.

I apparently forgot to tell everybody that I went to my writing group Thursday, and shared "Under the stars" (which you can read here: https://bigclosetr.us/topshelf/fiction/44433/under-stars ) and they absolutely loved it.

I really needed the positive reinforcement, you know?

Lego Dotty

okay so dream time again:

I dreamed I was the star of an animated TV show where I played a Lego version of myself.

In the dream my Lego self got into a hockey game with Lego versions of Disney villains and ended up getting slightly singed, to the laughter of my Lego friends and people saying "That's Dotty all over" as the credits ran.

NYSEQ F*@$KED ME OVER

Blog About:

So I paid off my outstanding bill with NYSEQ, my electric company. Thanks to everyone who helped me with that. You're AMAZING people. Sadly the company decided they WANTED more. I was on a Budget Billing plan and because I fell behind in my payments, they told me today---AFTER I paid ALL that money to keep my power from being shut off---that the plan was now cancelled and I owe them another $1000 to keep them from shutting it off again.

Dominant Mother

Blog About:

Author:

March 22nd would have been my mother's 102nd birthday.

It's hard to believe it's been nineteen years since she passed.

She was a pistol. Very intimidating.

Years ago, it was quite fashionable to suggest that effeminate men were the product of women like my mother.

I don't consider myself effeminate but I DO consider myself quite feminine.

I wonder what the rest of you think about the theories regarding a mother's influence.

i had a really angry-sad moment today.

See, we're in a provincial election, and the guy everybody expects to win is very anti-LGBT. This was made abundantly clear today when he announced he would scrap the law that protects LGBT kids from being outed by their teachers.

I spent a long time in prayer asking for help to find grace for this man, so my anger wouldnt kill me ...

Hey folks!

Hey folks, for all the years I’ve been reading and loving stories on this site, I never looked into the subtleties of the site. I never noticed the blog function before!

Since I started trying to write for the first time, I thought I’d start a blog as well as an experiment. I can’t promise I will post a lot (I’ve never been good with things like diaries) but I think I’ll give it a try.

I’d like to invite others to ask questions and offer helpful criticisms about the first (hopefully) of my stories and ultimately about me if you want.

Our church sponsors a food bank twice a month. My wife and I volunteer there. There are about 30 volunteers there on any given day. One of the regulars is an older, I say older because she's older than me and I'm pretty old, older Hispanic lady who doesn't speak very much English. Because of the language barrier, I really don't know her enough to more than say hi to her. I don't even know her name.

I went shopping with Sam and Sharon today, and while in a store Sharon was approached by someone who asked her if she knew the strange individual who was following her daughter, and Sharon said "That's Sam's dad."

So she went and told me, and then I shared it with the cashier as we were checking out, and Sharon said, "He cross-dresses but he is a good guy anyway."

So ... that happened today.

Make of it what you will.

scared to dress as self

Blog About:

I have bought the clothes. I grew my hair out. I have even ordered some breasts. So, why am I so scared to wear the things. The desire is there. I will wear pajamas with no difficulty. I have even started wearing leggins and a pink t-shirt around the house. I am scared to put on other stuff. Something always stops me.

I have thought about going to a trans support group all dressed up, but backed out at last minute. I want to go to one of my therapy sessions dressed as myself, but never do.

Dia duit y'all,

So I believe I have entered some weird alternate reality where Rod Serling will suddenly start speaking in the background.

I'll give you a short history of the particular situation. My guardian so I have just been told has been sick a while and currently placed into a home by her daughters. All news to me, I recently got an email telling me I should visit her.

I don't really talk to her as I have been living up in DC working as a contractor for some time. I love Virginia and it paid well and I was many states away from 'those people'.

adventures in name changing

Blog About:

Author:

I wanted to share the story of my name change.

It all began not long after I began my transition, and discovered that if I wanted surgery, I would have to change my name. Which would have been difficult, because I was deep in debt, and didnt have the money it would take.

That changed when Walmart outsourced my department, and paid me out, giving me a about four thousand dollars.

With the money issue solved, I sent away to New Brunswick for a copy of my birth certificate, which I would need to start the ball rolling.

I fell hard last week

Tuesday last week to be exact,I wear my phone under my bra and was able to call for help. Since I don' have $3,000 for an ambulance trip I asked the firemen to pick me up and put me into my manual wheelchair. If I had it to do over I would have set up a trip to ER the next day. A Dart taxi trip only costs $3 each way, though I do have to do it a day inadvance. I may have cracked something, I am still going to get checked out, Going through the county hospitals bureaucracy takes forever. Little by little I am figuring out how to handle the system.

I was looking at my account info the other day, and realized that in about 3 months, I will be celebrating my 10th anniversary of being a member here.

And so I've been thinking about how I might knowledge this milestone with a story.

Right now, I'm not sure what I might do. I've got one small piece almost finished that might help me avoid not having anything to share for the next three months, but beyond that ...

I could do something like Randalynn's "Convergence: when stories collide", but I'm not sure what stories would make the cut.

I’m doing fine

Blog About:

It was pointed out to me, and rightfully so, that my previous blog post was both a while ago and a bit worrying. I was hesitant to write because compared to others my life is going great.

I have actually transitioned and am perfectly happy being myself. The children (14 & 17] accept me and love me. I have divorced, which in this case is a good thing as the negative influence of my ex partner is mostly gone and more easily mitigated.

Sick

Blog About:

Author:

I'm sick. Tuesday I discovered a rash under my left arm. At the time, I was suffering from a muscle pull in the same region and felt more pain from that.

Thursday, it became obvious the rash was shingles. I've got meds now and the pain meds make me sleepy and at least two other dwarves.

Meanwhile, Piper and Amy are also sick. I think theirs are colds. Jamie is sick, too.

Forgive us if we are a little slow on updating this week.

Hugs (carefully),

I dreamed I could fly

Blog About:

last night, I dreamed I could fly.

Well, I say, "fly" but what in the dream I was walking, rather uncertainty, a couple of inches above the ground.

That wasnt the strange part of the dream.

The strange part was I went on a date with a woman and as part of the date we rode a bus together. I apologized for the non-romantic transportation, saying that I sucked at dating because I was in my 50's, and broke.

The woman seemed happy enough anyway, so there is that.

ReubyLouise's Intro

Blog About:

Author:

I will try to make this brief. I am a 64yo (65 in July) mtf pre-op ts since 1990.

From an early age I remember being fascinated with my mother's clothing. But I had other things that may have influenced that.

For one, my mother was given DES to prevent miscarriages. So there is a chance my chromosomes were messed with.

Mom and Dad argued all the time, usually about his drinking and driving and me. Their divorce was final before my brother was born, four months before my fifth birthday. I was jealous.

Life is so fragile, and so brief.

In late November Tiffany (aka crazypagangurl) passed away suddenly. Then, about a week ago, I got a phone call from a friend saying her wife had barely survived a health scare, and she was shaken to the core. Then one of my cousins tripped and fell and broke her shoulder, and was told a few inches difference she might have broken her neck instead. Now, Drea's wife has been taken from her.

What I'm saying is, tell the people you love that you love them. You never know when it will be the last time you speak to somebody.

It is truly disgusting......

Blog About:

Author:

First, let me state that I am more than slightly disappointed by the response to my previous blog. I posted here in the hopes of possibly finding someone who might be interested in sharing a home - someone who could perhaps benefit from my situation by the fact that I truly don’t need them to contribute financially and they would be able to share a nice home without it becoming a major financial burden. My take away from this would be that it would help to prevent me from falling into the trap of enforced solitude that I have known before. Nothing more, nothing less.

'Cause I Had To Tell Somebody

Blog About:

Author:

I just felt like I had to tell this rather than just put it behind me. This last week we buried my next to oldest brother in Arlington National Cemetery. Weather put a monkey wrench in things, no horse-drawn caisson or honor guard marching along side. He did receive a 21 gun salute and there was an honor guard graveside. It was kind of eerie, the blanket of snow covering everything. The cemetery was closed to normal traffic and the snow muted what sound there was. It was a very solemn ceremony.
