Just like my main character, I just can’t seem to get a break. As I mentioned in a previously to a comment from chapter 25, I was away but have just come back from a gloriously enjoyable holiday in a beach house. It was wonderful on a number of points: It was a much needed time of relaxation and fun (even with my improving but persistent back pain). Then it was a lovely week of time with my daughter where I watched my, little to me but on the cusp of adulthood (17), girl interacting with her boyfriend. I could see my beloved in the gentle and knowing gestures my daughter gave her boy! Likewise I could elements of my playful and sometimes sarcastic nature in her as well. It was one of the more moving things I’ve witnessed in a long time (it’s bringing tears of joy to my eyes just thinking of it). I’m certain my Beloved Lady must be really proud of our “little one”.
Then sadly we had to return from our ocean dream. We arrived home and started settling back into our everyday lives. Unfortunately, it appears my wonderful if almost 90 year old house missed us and decided to let us know its displeasure! To the tune of $4000.00 in plumbing and climbing!! First our tankless water heater dies and then I’m informed that the drain piping from the kitchen that is under the basement concrete floor haS rusted through! Mud now is leaking in and clogging it. Maybe I should have stayed at the beach where amongst other things, I found an amazing art gallery and picked up a lovely ukkiyo-e Japanese print. This was a gallery that had works from Miro and even Picasso available!!
Well at least I can still write the Curtain Fall as my muse hasn’t left! On that, please tell me how I’m doing? What have I been doing right? What mistakes in writing style, pacing, continuity, etc. have I been making? Have I been too subtle or two blunt with foreshadowing? Are questions in the story getting answered? I hunger for respectful feedback!
