Ancient Greek… an unusual subject nowadays, and even unusual back then… it was compulsory, along with Latin for the “Honours” class up to Inter Certificate (Intercert), and optional thereafter for Leaving Certificate (Leavingcert). And I took the option, even though I wasn’t that good with languages; it was reputed to be an “easy honour” and I needed this to get the state grant to help with college. We were to be the last Greek Class in our School as Greek teachers were becoming hard to find.
*** Author's note: This is like my normal stories. This deals with child abuse, neglect, abandonment. There is also other triggering themes in this story.
Chapter 1: The Day Everything Changed
Jake walked home from school like it was any other day, his headphones blaring some angsty song about rebellion and survival. It fit the mood he was in—school sucked, home wasn’t much better, but at least it was something. A roof over his head. Food on the table. A bed to crash on.
Sucking air into lungs finding themselves able to expand fully, Nick again pushed a hand against the rack of green produce to stay upright.
“Gimme…gimme a minute.”
“Sure.”
Emotions, fresh and bleeding, spilled one after another across the lines of his face. Not just the tautness of anger and pain - but also the deepest troughs of despair, haunted by what he’d just touched.
Harry thought he was just making a little joke, but the women in the office weren't laughing.
So they made a little bet and Harry would win if he followed the women's dress code for a month.
How hard could it be?
Fire and arcane energy erupted beyond Mortar Mage’s hands, and his partner produced shadow constructs and summoned dark tentacles too. They spent minutes blocking and striking down the masked figures. Some were fast, some were strong, and some just took
more hits to bring down than the others.
A couple faster ones managed to hit Mortar. He wouldn’t have been surprised if War Lagoon was hit as well.
"I can't believe that the week is almost over," sighed Scott.
"I know what you mean. It may not have been the vacation we expected, but this is a lovely place and I do want to come back again."
"It's odd to think that this may be the last time our family vacations together, even if our eldest child is not staying with us. I'm not sure I'm ready to have an independent child go off into the world to find their own way."
"Feeling like an empty-nester already, dear?"
"I suppose I am. Just because we aren't the first doesn't make it any easier."
"Peter will still be living with us, or perhaps Polly will, while she's in school. Oh my! I just called our son 'she,' didn't I?"
Amanda sat quietly and just let me talk for almost an hour, whilst I told her my story, from the dress-up games and teenage sessions with Chloe, my drift into marriage with what turned out to be a domineering partner, nagging me into working in a boring job with her father, my secret cross-dressing, how she had found out, and how she angrily threw me out of our home, leaving me with only my women’s clothes.
All in all she believed this was a man worth having.

“Enough to discuss it in bed, and if we don’t think we’ll suit each other no harm done, and at least we’ll have enjoyed the eve, and we can both keep looking for someone else.”
“‘Tis but a myth,” the wise one said.
She was only wise because she was the only one who had ever gone across the great seas and returned to tell the tale to the young women in the village.
“There are no happy endings. No great desires to be quenched or to believe if you allow yourself to be tied down to that kind of life. Nothing good will come of it.”
We believed her.
Although some had questions and the ones with said questions were usually escorted out of the village in the dead of night—-to where, we dared not ask.

"She’s just a kid, you can’t seriously be thinking about giving her alcohol.”
Mary walked out of the coffee shop, and narrowly dodged the man she encountered right outside of the door. Her sidestep became an awkward step when she saw the man’s face. He wore no mask, but she recognized him regardless with his chin structure and green eyes.
“Fancy meeting you here,” she said to him.
He smiled back at her. Of course he knew who she was. A few months ago, he saw Mary and Kyra naked after they washed up on the beach following a major battle.
Our parents have gone home.

(Finally, Miranda has accepted the fact she is a woman and grows confused on her relationships; meanwhile, she seeks to uncover a suspected child trafficking ring, continuing to place her in danger.)
Polly, I've got to hand it to you," Little Rose said. "You have a lot of nerve taking your parents on a hike to a clothing optional hot springs. For that matter, you have a lot of nerve going anywhere where clothing is optional!"
“It must be quite an advantage for a man as tall as you to be able to look down and see what ever you want when dancing with a small, large bosomed woman.”

Eventually, the time came for the couple to leave the reception. The wedding
party had all gotten together to decorate the Rolls Royce parked at the top of
the circular driveway. It had all the traditional streamers, signs, tin cans,
etc. and was ready to go. About the time we finished with the car, we heard the thumping of helicopter rotors
approaching. I had slapped my forehead. Of course, I had thought, what does a rich guy do to make a
statement?
The helicopter landed on the front lawn and the happy couple was soon airborne
and heading into the night to the well wishes of the assembled guests. Before they left, Sandra told me that she still
didn't know where they were going.
After Tom and Sandra had made their exit, the party started to slowly break up.
I had been exhausted when I finally slipped into bed at the hotel well after midnight. I fell
asleep with a sense of peace and wondering where the happy couple had gone.
Renee Wahla was fearless. When some of her classmates started to cry after finding out they hurt Luke she joined them. They started to cry because they were still learning to control their emotions. Renee, on the other hand, started to cry because she was not going to deny her sadness. She was in control of her emotions, but was never scared of showing them. Renee wearing her heart on her sleeve was the reason why she was Mr. Noth’s favorite student.
When Judy awoke in the morning, it was to a gentle touch on the shoulder by Kyra. Her equally soft and genuine smile highlighted the winning battle against being up so close to sunrise. Or was it a losing battle? Judy couldn’t be sure with that one, but to this day she was certain alarm clocks were the epitome of evil.
CHAPTER 20 - There is an intimate relation between curing and caring.
They kept Ellen for a couple of days in the maternity ward. George could only visit in the evenings as he spent the days at the police headquarters being debriefed by the feds. By the time they were done with him and he hurried to the hospital, he never found the time to go shopping for male clothes. He showed up every day for his interrogation in a freshly washed and ironed maids’ outfit.
I swear this magic stuff is beginning to be a good news, bad news deal. Tegan you’re a witch, but you can’t stay a boy to learn about magic. Well back to trying to read the book title. “I assume I am looking for something like ‘Grimoire’, ‘Spell Book’, ‘Book of Magic’, or ’Repository of all Magical Knowledge’ for the rest of the title.”
“Something like that.” My Grandma smiled at me and made a ‘go on’ motion with her hands to get me back to looking.
She stood there. She stood there on the corner. She stood there as if time had stopped. She stood there not feeling the breeze as it stirred her skirts around her legs. She stood there in shock at the last words she had heard. Biting words, hurtful words that had no place in public or private. Words that could cause one pain and suffering. Words that altered those around them and tore down the very walls that we erect in defense of our very sanity. It was those words that froze her in place. Those words that froze her mind.
“I have never celebrated this holiday before, tell me again what it means please?” Aelwynn pressed up against her lover as he sat pensively in their bed following a session of truly remarkable lovemaking.
As to that, I have a long tale as to why I was held up. My story begins around eleven a.m., about five minutes after I got off the phone with Wyatt. I was in the downtown Steel Canyon area on other business that had been concluded for the day when I placed the call, and I was walking to where I usually catch a taxi.
Walter strolled across the round walkway where countless other people walked. He stopped, and some people screamed, when a van pulled up behind him with a screech.
Debbie looks at her husband as she helps remove his body armor. She couldn’t believe how dented it was or the bruises she was seeing on his chest. His face was a little swollen from the punches he took.
“What the heck hit you, Jack?” Debbie knew her husband was a well-trained fighter.
There weren’t many people her husband couldn’t defend himself against or takedown. She examines him carefully, to make sure he doesn’t have any broken bones or fractures.
Almost Halloween, on a rainy day near Buttonwillow she stole a ride...
