In this chapter, Emily navigates a day filled with grief and reflection as she bids farewell to her mother. Amidst the weight of the occasion, small moments of kindness and support from those around her offer glimpses of comfort and strength, helping her take the first steps toward healing.
Many thanks to everyone for all the help last year and let's try to make 2025 a wonderful year in terms of stories posted and enjoyed. :)

London's Met police have the only Police EOD Unit in the country. They had called me in because after an X-ray , they suspected the device to be nuclear. It was a dirty bomb designed to make a large part of the London financial district uninhabitable. My name is Matt Rixon and I’m a captain in the 11th Regiment.
One Hour Later:
Jennifer, Arabella, and Gina had shown up after Tammy called her for support. Jennifer and Arabella were wearing sundresses and low heels. Gina showed up dressed in black two-inch heels, black dress slacks, and a deep purple silk blouse. Her long black hair was tied back into a ponytail.
The girls were looking at Nyx in her Mandalorian-style body armor. Arabella was fascinated with its design of it. She had heard about some LARP groups that have formed clans that were in certain cities.

For now, these hot days, is the mad blood stirring.
I stared blankly at the GCSE exam past paper on the desk in front of me, then at my watch for perhaps the fiftieth time this lesson, then out of the window where the sun was streaming down onto the tarmacked playground below. Only a few minutes to go now, a couple of hours to kill at the library, and I could go home and escape. For a few hours anyway. I’d been planning it for weeks. My stomach had been turning butterflies all afternoon in anticipation.
Christie's first chance at completing the sorcerer emergence trial is less than 48 hours away. But first, there are family traditions that Mom Amanda and Grandmother Rebekah want to share with Christie.
Saturday arrives, and a reflective Christie shares some intensely special moments with her friends - even the ones who don't know precisely how special this day will be.
The hit sitcom returns with a “Christmas in July” holiday special! With the mob closing in, the last thing Terry expected was a nighttime visit from a magical elf and three snarky spirits. But he’ll need their help if he doesn’t want to stay stuck as a French maid for the rest of his life! (Featuring artwork by Fraylim!)
With our long sojourn at an end we finally returned full circle to
the same pretty yacht haven we had left so long ago. Things had
changed enormously for all of us but not so much as to damage or
affect the intense feelings we still had for the friends we had left
behind. Margaret, Jane, Diana and I were overjoyed to see our centaur
friends waving excitedly on the quay as our weather-beaten yacht
nosed its way into her old familiar berth.

Jamie and I lounged in our bunks as we discussed the options confronting us.
“I suppose we could just land and not tell anybody about it.” Jamie opined.
Snow's whole life changes when the winter solstice arrives.
“No!” I barely managed to keep my objection to a whisper. “I… I’m just not very good at this kind of thing. Nobody has ever really been interested in me that way before. I wasn’t exactly…”
Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean
A Short Retelling of History
By Maryanne Peters
Aye, it is a heavy burden to have the fate of an entire nation borne upon your shoulders. More so when that nation has such a fine tradition of bravery and resourcefulness. Surely the Scots are special folk. I only wish that their hero could have been strong enough to live up to the expectation.
Visiting Valerie and verifying the previous night's shared experiences. Then Christie heads to class at the dojang where she has a minor meltdown crying on Papa's shoulder.
Anxiously Lisa watched the clock tick on, hoping that the syringe Linda had arranged would arrive in time. The clock ticked way too fast to her liking and with every passing minute the chance of that syringe arriving in time grew slimmer and slimmer. Sure it was to be expected, Linda had told that she doubted it could make it in time, yet she had put all her hope on exactly that.
What if supernatural beings like Witches, Faeries, Demons, and their ilk are all real? Glen Evanston is about to be caught in their many traps in my new work in progress: Magic, Mystery, and Mayhem a Graphic Novel by Raine Monday
“Okay, just a few more,” the photographer says to me as I pose in my designer jeans and t-shirt. “That’s great Ian, look this way, try to stand a bit straighter so we can see the logo clearly.” I do as I’m told and hold a subtle smile on my face as the camera takes photos of me- or rather, the clothes I’m wearing. “Okay, I think that’s everything. Thanks Ian, I’ll you have the rest of your Saturday back!”
Private Airfield, San Francisco, California:
Leland drove like a possessed man on a mission. Tammy and Nyx were bracing themselves as he weaved in and out of traffic. Tammy looks at Leland “you can slow down, Leland.”
“He already has a big advantage on us, Tam.” Leland’s cat wanted the bastard.
“He may, but if we get killed on the way there. It won’t do any of us any good.” Tammy wanted to get to the airport in one piece.
“Don’t worry sweetie. I’ll be more careful.” Leland slows down some.
Mom Amanda comes downstairs the morning after Christie's Very Weird Day and is surprised that her daughter is not following her usual exercise routine. Come to find out that Christie had a very restless night and would need Mother's insight and guidance on what to do next.
The weekend was glorious and Berget and I went out in my car to find as many scenic spots, cafes and bakeries as we could. After the stress of the week it was good to wind down.
On the Monday Anders came to my office as I was looking through the applications that had come in during the week. He told me that Greger had been absolutely full of it when he’d got home and wanted to know if I thought that Halina was serious.
Miles has finally gotten his hands on a potion of femininity, something he’s always wanted to try, but was never able to afford. Sure, it’s an experimental variation, but the alchemist sold it to him at a steep discount! It’s not like there’s any real risk, anyway – even if there are side effects, the alchemist promised that they’ll wear off alongside the potion. Assuming Miles takes it as directed, that is!

And so I continued to grow up. The usual things that happen to teenage girls happened to me. For the most part, my life as a transgendered girl wasn't too different from that of any schoolgirl, but I'll hit some of the highlights.
"Granny, Granny, please tell us a story! Pretty please, Granny!" said nine year old Linda as she sat on the floor with her twin sister Julia.
They had on matching sky blue blouses and navy blue skorts which each had embroidered a red rose with green stem and leaves as well as the first initial of their name. They both looked precious in their white knee socks and black Mary Jane's. Each of them looked intently at me with their deep blue eyes, resisting the temptation to twirl their long blonde hair in their fingers, since they loved my stories.
Before I could answer, Julia burst out, "Tell us a new one, Granny! Pretty, please!"
