Number 4 Park Avenue
A Short Story and a Speculation
By Maryanne Peters
I was called in to Number 4 Park Avenue to look at what they had found - to assess it for an intrinsic value. It seemed strange that somebody who worked in wardrobe in various theaters on Broadway should be called into a construction site, but that just piqued my curiosity. I have a taste for the strange, and I was also a renowned expert of turn of the century garments, which is what won me the invitation.
Now we come to the reason Aida and I spent the night - attending church in the morning. My cynical self couldn't help but compare the Gabriel clan with those B movie mobsters that spend week raping, pillaging, boozing and blackmailing, then go to church on Sunday to thank the lord for their blessings. That has to rate right up there with getting fucked by some dude at your own anniversary party. I wondered if we should sit a few pews away in case there was an unseasonable lightning strike.

“Where in the hell did those guys come from?” Ace activates the new stealth systems that were added to the Vectors recently.
Mrs. Butcher was nodding as I spoke and then remarked, “The change in you was almost too sudden to believe. There was no way the Sam I had been seeing would suddenly become the Samantha I now know any other way. I’m a believer.”
The Inspector was still not convinced and pulled out another file.
I said, “If that’s the William Williams file you can follow what I say”
CHAPTER 35
I watched his gaze, and it followed Elen’s in its intense focus on how tightly the material of the waiters’ trousers stretched across the bums beneath. Oh, indeed. I felt more than a little out of place just then, as I was only just learning how to ‘lesbian’ properly, and that left very little room for adapting to having a gay male around.
With that he wandered to greet the guests as they arrived. We seated ourselves in the shade of the big tent and indulged in some people watching. Since most of the guests were of her parent's generation, we weren't disturbed for quite some time as guests greeted one another.
Mom and dad were merciful, they didn't disturb us until we were ready to get up. It's a good thing we had gotten used to sharing a bathroom, because it takes a while to get beautiful. We didn't go all out like the day before, Aida gave us a much simpler look for a casual day. I resolved to start learning how to do makeup magic if I had any intention of letting Lori out more often when this week was over.
