Is Late Better than Never? Chapter 6

Is Late Better than Never? Chapter 6
by Lily Rasputin

I honestly wasn’t the least bit surprised to learn that the club Maddie’s parents belonged to happened to be the ritziest, most expensive, and most exclusive one in Greensboro.

Pulling the Beemer into an empty spot not too far from the oversized putting green, I stared at the massive structure that was a living testament to wealth and privilege. As Mike, I had only been here once, at a gala charity fundraiser that one of the senior partners of Kelly’s firm was hosting.

The Last Greek Class (Reformatted)

The Last Greek Class

Ancient Greek… an unusual subject nowadays, and even unusual back then… it was compulsory, along with Latin for the “Honours” class up to Inter Certificate (Intercert), and optional thereafter for Leaving Certificate (Leavingcert). And I took the option, even though I wasn’t that good with languages; it was reputed to be an “easy honour” and I needed this to get the state grant to help with college. We were to be the last Greek Class in our School as Greek teachers were becoming hard to find.

Chapter 12

*Harrow…

He stared at the battlefield anger simmered through his veins. The minions of Dorian The Pretender had been saved by the turn coat Shaya. Illian had been a knight of great skill under the rightful King Lyam and to do this…it angered him beyond measure. The fact that they were transformed into the stupid bitch that she was now was just more proof that Dorian The Pretender was dragging all that was pure and good of their race into the levels of the beasts that he was forced to work with.

Riding Home 11

CHAPTER 11
That was all I needed from that weekend, but not all I wanted. Ideas came thick and fast, promises followed behind, and Arwel astonished me by promising to sort out the flowers. It was only later that I discovered the sly old bugger had relatives with a flower shop.

Our second night was spent in the pub, as is only natural, but this time Merry had gone home, and it was a much more sedate evening. Alice had her foot firmly on the brakes with her husband and stepson, and I suspect the hangover hadn’t been forgotten by Eric.

The Sniper

James Mason was a man on a mission. This was not his first and probably not his last but a great many things would change along the way. Lies, deceit and treachery the likes of which he had never known would cloud his path. Can he find the truth amongst lies? Will the truth brings the answers he's looking for? "Remember the first rule of assassination is to kill the assassin. ***Warning*** explicit sex scene although consensual hence the R rating.

Darkness is a friend, an ally. It allows us to be honest with ourselves, to express those values that we would disavow in the light. The light blinds us. It is only in the dark that we see clearly, and there is a great dark hidden among these worlds.

Furst struggled against the bonds that the mage before him had woven around his frame. “Chiao! I thought out of all the councilors you would be the least apposed to joining us. We are achieving something you have been screaming about!” He continued to struggle until the magic that had woven itself around him dissipated. “Saving the future. The non-magic people don’t care about their children born with magic, in fact they see them as a curse. You and I know that!”

First Flight

As the plane was nearing cruising altitude, it hit an air pocket or some such thing and took a 'hop'. My hand gripped the armrest like a vise and I furiously chewed the wad of gum in my mouth; it had lost all of its flavor almost an hour before.

"It's okay, miss. You don't have to worry." The voice on my right spoke softly. I turned to see the most beautiful blue green eyes I had ever beheld. He was staring at my hand.

"The queen wishes that we all go out riding this afternoon."

Helene was all smiles.

"It was so long ago that I last rode with mother."

Arabella approached Lady Ysabel and began to whisper.

"Mother, I cannot ride the only time I have been atop a horse was when I played with the baker's children. We used to play with the pony that delivered the sacks of flour."

I hear my doorbell ring as 'CSI:Miami' is about to end. As I get up and out of my chair to answer the door, things seem a bit different all about my apartment. My light-beige walls now seem brighter and glow in a pinkish hue I am certain isn't of my own intent. About the room are mementos of a feminine nature I have never seen before.

Synopsis: There is an old saying that says life is what you make it. These days, I firmly believe it to be true. I used to believe that God hated me. I was born into a world that wouldn’t accept me and I spent years praying to God to make me normal like other kids. My prayers remained unanswered, and I tried to end my suffering and take my own life. I guess that God finally took pity on me and decided to finally answer my prayers. They also say that he works in mysterious ways, and I’m living proof of that.

He turned my whole life completely upside down. He took me out of a uncaring home and placed me with a real family, one that loves and supports me, He gave me friends that would stand by me, no matter what. Of all the gifts that he gave me, the greatest gift of all was to make me a normal teenage girl.

I AM NOT USING 'THE QUESTION AS A CHARACTER.The treatment that was used on Stephanie was called the question treatment. Any resemblance to The Question is just that- a resemblance. This is what Steph looks like when her power kicks in.

How insidious is evil? Can it become genetic? Can good be genetic? Where does that leave freedom of choice? The last few scenes had a lot of jumping around in order to get characters into play. Now I will take a longer period of time on each character. Please do not get upset if you miss an installment with a certain character. I'm getting a lot of people reading this but very few comments . I get most of my idea from the things that happen around me. Maybe if you comment I'll get a new one.

"Granny, Granny, please tell us a story! Pretty please, Granny!" said nine year old Linda as she sat on the floor with her twin sister Julia.

They had on matching sky blue blouses and navy blue skorts which each had embroidered a red rose with green stem and leaves as well as the first initial of their name. They both looked precious in their white knee socks and black Mary Jane's. Each of them looked intently at me with their deep blue eyes, resisting the temptation to twirl their long blonde hair in their fingers, since they loved my stories.

Before I could answer, Julia burst out, "Tell us a new one, Granny! Pretty, please!"
