It had ended up as a happy evening, with just the one slight shadow as Will broke away to call goodnight to his mother. The soft southern ears seemed to be tuning in steadily to the odd vowels and vocabulary, and once the rough and tough Northerners had played enough of their little game of confuse-a-visitor they did their best to communicate. Communication was clearly on Jim’s mind that night, especially where Rachel was concerned, and towards the end of the night a plate of sandwiches was brought over as a welcome. Rachel sniffed carefully at one.

We finished off our drinks, and after a quick nod of thanks to Jim we set out for the Club. Rachel was smirking.

“That was clever of him”

I had to ask, and she explained.

“Look, we’re off somewhere else, yeah?”

“Yeah…”

“Licensed premises, that have lower prices than his pub, yeah?”

“Well, aye”

He looked drained, and for the first time ever I saw him look uncertain, and I wondered if he had actually been following us or just stumbled into our group as he rounded the corner. He had a copy of the Helm “Shorebirds” open in his hands, so I assumed that it was the latter.

I blink and I smile and take out my phone. I’m just holding it but Principal West’s eyes lock onto it for just a couple of seconds. “I’m sure that’s not necessary Mr. Daniels. Keith you too please.” He says to the big guy.

“No…sorry sir but this is kinda like a social condom. I’d rather have it that not need it than need it and not have it.”

He works his jaw a bit. “You do know that the school sets the cell-phone policy don’t you?”

“You had better be looking foe a lot of trouble if you did something rash Mr. West, unless every phone was affected by the same ruling I’d think I was being singled out.”

Again with the jaw.

“Are you determined to be adversarial with me for some reason Mr. Daniels?”

I looked at him, the puzzlement plain on his face. Every minute I spent with James was a surprise. At times, he came across as mentally damaged, in the sense of speaking like a small child or someone of profoundly limited intelligence. Other times it took the appearance of OCD, especially in his persistent need to number things, or to say everybody’s name as a greeting. And then…and then there would be a break in his walls, usually when his sense of threat had faded, and there would be a bright, clever boy who very simply couldn’t get past his own mouth. Those were the times when I could see why his current Mum loved him.

I haven’t the foggiest.

Back when I was Jaime I was so out of the whole actual emotional connection that I went to a date to the movies and I watched the movie. It was good in a way because it did let me turn my brain off. But the whole make out thing in the movie theatres. I never did that.

He was pushed right up against the window, a camera with a stupidly-long lens to his eye, and every now and again I saw his elbow give a dig to someone who had just knocked his arm. He wore a Bluetooth earpiece, and the shape and weight of his satchel suggested a number of heavy books. I leant over to Rachel and whispered in her ear.

This is a work of fiction that deals with a simple future. In it, most people, if they were numbers, were now simple people with simple ideas and very simple needs. Harsh language is used and this story includes descriptions of sexual behaviour that may be considered disturbing to some.

Synopsis:   Over the last three months life hasn’t been very easy for Jessica. First was the suicide attempt, then she finally accepted that she could no longer live a lie as Andrew, and she truly became Jessica for good. The transition was a tough one, with many trials and tribulations, like meeting her mother as a girl for the first time and eventually getting (and giving) forgiveness.

The worst was the kidnapping and facing her father for the first time as a girl, only to have him die in her arms. Dealing with the aftermath of his death has been difficult, but Jessica has something that Andrew never did. This is a true Halloween story about eighteen year old twins a boy and girl Nikki and Ann, and their quest to win a costume contest that turns into an adventure that changes their lives forever. Will Halloween ever be the same for them or anyone who reads this? Best read in the dark with lightening flashing.

The story does contain a couple of hints at sexual feelings but no real sex, just the desires that normal eighteen year olds get at that age when bodies are close and lips are met. I didn’t want to have to break this into two parts but then thought I should. This is my first time posting I just hope I do it right.

That had been a hard one. Alec was clearly switched on, which I had expected, but it had come almost as a shock to realise how much he actually cared. I had expected the usual NHS assembly line treatment, where all the right things are said from a mask of compassion put on for each patient in turn, but he had made me realise how lucky I really was.

It was really nice to have somebody to think of and keep my mind out of that obsessive self ass-kicking that I’ve been giving myself. Sable was a nice distraction from the usual. History was well…boring and kind of retarded from the little bit that I learned of it. I was actually thinking about the abuse that Sable must have been getting with everyone knowing that she was into porn.

On my way to the last class of the day and someone was being a wise ass and called me “Chaz.”
