Charade

When you played your charade
You left the wrong impression
Acting as though you're aware
Of just what we’re going through

When you played your charade
You gave that false confession
Saying you know even though
You really have no clue

Saying that you accept us now
Might seem cordial and nice
Not really knowing just who we are
Still you give us your advice

When you play your charade
It feels like you just don't try
How can you know what it’s like for us
Since you really don't bother to ask

Making a point to be distant now
Insisting ‘Not Me!” once again
Making no effort to truly know
You can't understand our pain

When you play your charade
Insisting on your definition
No understanding of our hopes and our dreams
Because it’s really all about you!

That has to be one of the all time great movies. Your adaptation of the song really lays it on the line. I have wondered that about me and others. How much of me is a charade? If I were given the opportunity to be fifteen, not in the past, but in the present, would I try to do things differently. If I knew what I know now, I probably would. There might be a wonderful future out there, especially since I am so much wiser (I hope) now.

Is it a Charade or...

Is it a charade or a masquerade that we do? This mask we show the world... Are we trying to tell people something about us, without actually saying it? Or are we pretending to be other that they not be able to guess.

Thanks for making me think about this...
