Chapter 3

There was no light bulb moment that I was ready for my power to reach the next level, it was just when I looked again at the foreign virus DNA that was incorporating itself into Chris DNA and wanted to change it, my gift agreed with me. It wasn't as simple as just deleting it, my DNA needed certain base pairs to be in certain points or the complex DNA folding that occurred on a macro and micro level would go wrong. My understanding was sufficient to change the sequencing to nonsense whilst keeping the overall structure.

CHAPTER 12
We had a mixed Summer, weatherwise, but that was one of the reasons Dad managed to make a half-decent income for us from the bunkhouse. I loved camping, especially that sense of a nest, being safe from the weather even if only behind a couple of layers of nylon. Listening to rain on my tent was a wonderful lullaby, but it rather obviously meant that the world outside would be rather moist.

Chapter 1

Chris Heaven's Point of View (POV)

I sat in the waiting room thinking while trying to remain calm. The world had changed so much since my youth. I was nearing seventy now and was probably the oldest client to ever approach 'The Catalyst' as she liked to be called. I almost snorted at the ridiculousness of the world.

It was a couple of days later that I entered Marc’s lab.

“Whatcha want, Rose?” he asked, keeping lots of distance between us. I assumed he didn’t want my sister to know he’d been talking to me.

“She’s still mad at us?” I asked.

“I’m on probation. I’m not supposed to help you with anything right now.”

Some months ago there was a "Reluctant Princess" contest and I started writing this for that contest... but I hit one of those little "Sleeping policemen" and haven't really written anything since. Here is the beginning of the third book in the series that began with "Murder in the Holy City" and continued with "The Masque of NeverMore".

You might want to read the first two if you haven't already or this bit might not make a great deal of sense.
