When I arrived at the moon base, I went directly to Coop’s office. He was alone and looked concerned.

“What’s up, Coop?”

“I just had an interesting conversation with the council. They told me you are now in charge. I’m fine with that. My problem is that they seem to think that we have a military.”

“Ms Simpson would you please come in?”
The tall slim woman who was leafing through a woman’s periodical put it down, stood up and after picking up her handbag she went through the door into the doctors consulting room.

The doctor, who was also a woman, closed the door behind them.
“Please take a seat” said the doctor.

I long to wake up in the morning and find everything has changed

When Tanner said this evening would be ‘a little dryer’ he certainly was not speaking of the liqueurs. “I don’t believe I’ve seen so many soused people at one gathering before. It’s a wonder they accomplish anything at this dinner.”

“Basically they don’t, Kat.”

Alex left and that leaves me staring at that girl in the mirror. That girl from the picture he drew of me that he said was what he seen. I’m sitting there for a long time actually. I can’t get it out of my head for like hours. It just kind of sits there inside of that mess of me that’s me but, I’ve no idea exactly how I really feel.

Actually I kind of do. I know, I really have a real strong knowledge of being all fucked up.

I'm trying to take in what the Tacoma is telling me. For me, in my reality, Barack Obama is President of the United States and Sarah Palin isn't princess of anything except, maybe, FOX television. Sarah Palin was John McCain's running mate for Vice President against Obama. Palin is a television commentator, not ruler of Earth.

I pinch myself hard, with my nails.

“Ouch!”
