Doctor's Log

Doctor's Log

Author's note: On Facebook, I belong to a page called Transgender Trekkies. On that page, we have our own starship, the USS Jorgensen, and there I am known as Doctor Dorothy Bellion, AKA Doc Huggles. Just for fun, I made a excerpt of the doctor's log, and now I want to share it with you ...

Excerpt from the personal log of Doctor Dorothy (Dottie) Bellion:

Stardate: Classified.

The captain has authorized me to release a portion of my personal log, as there seems to be some confusion about just what I do aboard ship.

I understand that confusion. As long as we do not have an away mission ongoing, people may easily believe I have “nothing to do”, as our crew is normally exceptionally healthy. But even when the med bay has no patients in it, I have plenty to keep me occupied.

For example, I have a number of medical textbooks downloaded, and I review them often, especially those that focus on life forms other than humans. Having a good grasp of at least the basics of the various races who are represented on board means a faster response time if something happens, which can be the difference between life and death.

I also get posts from doctors on other ships about the things they have encountered, and what treatments were successful, if any. Although we are not having any away missions at the moment, it’s always better to be prepared than not.

And of course there is the huggle machine, my own little invention.

I wont tell how it works. That’s classified. But I can medically justify huggles as being a powerful tool in the psychological and physical recovery of people - that’s been proven.

Fortunately, the captain is in favor of them, and many of the crew have come to enjoy their “treatments”, so there isnt much issue on board this ship.

But the process does take some of my “free time”, what little I do have, so I appreciate it if no members of the crew try to tell me I have “nothing to do” ...

The end. (for now ...)
