Would you still love me?
One night, a small boy had a conversation with his mother.
“Mom, would you still love me if I turned into a dog?”
“Yes, my son, it would take some adjusting, but I would still love you as a dog.”
“Would you still love me if I turned into an alligator?”
“Yes, it would take a lot of adjusting, but I would still love you.”
“Mom? Would you still love me if I turned into a girl?”
There was a pause, as if the small child’s whole future depended on her answer.
“Yes, my son, I would still love you if you turned into a girl”
“What would you do with me, if I was a girl?”
“I’d try and teach you girl things, just like I’m trying to teach you boy things. But mostly, I would teach you human things, just like I am now.”
The small boy smiled, and closed his eyes, and went to sleep
The mother got up, and went to leave the room, but turned back and whispered softly to the sleeping child, “Yes, I will still love you, when you turn into a girl.”
And she kept her word.

Not that I expect any less of you. = )
It would take LOADS of adjusting, but even if you expressed curiosity in front of me, I'd still love you. *HuggleSnugglePurr* <3

expresses SATISFACTION instead, since that's what brings the Cat V-boy back .....
Thanks sweetie. Huggles and scratches behind the ears.
Conversely...and sadly...
...if the answer is 'no,' can they actually say they loved the child to begin with?
Love, Andrea Lena
I would say no, Drea
if you love your child, you should love them no matter who they become. You may worry, you may not like the choices they make, but the child should never be able to lose your love.
Little Dottie sneaks in and huggles Tante Drea just cause.

And as things should be but to often aren't.
It is also a wonderful simple way to approach the question and worth considering for those who are at that point, especially the younger ones.
thanks, Hypatia
the simple format was inspired by a children's book I saw once. Glad you liked it.
I'd love to see ...
... this turned into a children's book, with lots of pretty pictures, to go with the heartwarming words. :)
that would be awesome
but I have no skills with pictures, so it would need an illustrator
Very nice
You conveyed so much love and understanding in such a short story.

Okay, that made me both smile and tear up (sometimes at the same time). Especially the last thing the mother said. Good job, Dot!
