AAAARGH?

“How the hell can you luff a sail in a vacuum? Get down from there you idiot man!”

That was how it translated from Arachnian anyway, although the original had considerably more venom behind it, literally. Not that Sven was all that bothered about venom, being a zombie and all. Still, it tended to stain the ragged excuse for a spacesuit he’d scavenged from their last prize and he was a bit fastidious about staining it any more.

Getting Sam Ready

It’s not easy for a single mother to raise a son but I think that Sam and I have done OK for the last ten years. Of course a job with a good salary helped. Sam and I have grown quite close so it came as complete surprise when I came home to find Sam at my vanity, wearing only a set of sexy lingerie, including garter belt and stockings, crying over the complete mess of an unskilled attempt to apply make-up.

I hadn’t really associated Sam with anything feminine. Never a trace of make-up, no skirts, no dresses. Talking about dresses; the apparently brand new dress, still with the tag on it, hanging next to the dresser was completely inappropriate for a first date. The stress was definitely on the L in LBD. Way too skimpy!

Water in the ear

Another very short story that spawned from the very predicament this story begins with.

You all know how it feels to have water in your ears right? The plugged feeling, the muted sounds. No matter what you do, it only seems to make it worse (and usually does), driving you crazy. When you're at the end of your rope, who would you turn to for relief?

but one who can please women more with his gentle ways...

Silly Challenge for Silly September Story Contest

Silly Challenge for Silly September Story Contest
by Jennifer Sue

I may be crazy but I’m not stupid. That’s my mantra. Then add on that my birthday is April 1st... April Fool’s Day! I have an excuse for being wacked in the head! So what does all my weirdness have to do with the September Story contest? Well, my mind went willy nilly when I read it was to be a SILLY challenge for SILLY September. I think I covered all the main points, ninjas, pirates, spiders, sailing ships, sealing wax, cabbages, kings and even though zombies have no interest for me... but not to be denied I added them my way while twisting several of the others so keep your eyes sharp and your groans ready. I sincerely hope you enjoy the results:

Operation Kobayashi Maru - Or Magic Mayhem at the Mall

Why is a red headed witch chasing an old man in a bath robe through the mall? Will the ninja commander finally get to read Make Out Paradise Seven? Who will own the Quickening, Duncan's Donuts and Coffee or The Clan MacCloud Healthy Living Emporium? Will that sexy jutsu EVER wear off? And what does all this have to do with an intergalactic invasion or the Men in Beige?

Disclaimer: Any characters that appear to be like other characters are not really and no one they may accidentally appear like is owned by me. This story was just thrown together by me for the September contest without any real intention of anything serious. Please just enjoy (or not) the silliness.

Beginning of Hiro's Journey

2016-9 Zombie/Ninja/Pirate/Spider September Challenge
Beginning of Hiro's Journey

I haven't decided whether to run with this story or just keep it to the quick musing that follows. I thought It might be more compelling than another story I have in development.

At The End of Everything

For a while things were looking up; I was on my way to college, had the love of a great guy, and thanks to the help of my folks had GRS scheduled for Spring of the following year.

Then the end of the world happened.

Nobody knows how it started. Some say it’s a curse, others say it’s a virus that came from terrorists, or bad dog food, or something. Nobody knows, and nobody cares. All that matters is that a bunch of corpses jumped out of the ground and started biting people.

Circle of life, or death, or undeath, whatever.

A Christmas Carol & It's A Wendy-ful Life

The last two Christmases I created TG versions of famous Christmas stories trying to remain as true to the stories as I could. These were the results.

The Vicissitudes of Vicki the Vigilante Virgin: Phil

While this story is a sequel to “The Addict” it can be read separately (though I strongly recommend reading “The Addict” first).

Declaration: No puns were harmed in writing this story. Actually this story is no phun at all, sorry should have been has no puns at all. There is a risk that some people might consider it fun though I think there is more of a story than usual.

The Sundering

Summer heat baked the ground into a cracked, desiccated mass, a thin crust over a briny substrate that helped to give this place its name. She had been to and through some strange and beautiful places but this one in particular spoke to her soul… to the part of her that felt so keenly the loss of everything she had once held dear. Years flew past in her mind’s eye as she waited for the sun to dip below the mountains, composed herself for what she must do.

Hush

The bed lay half filled. Evie cocooned herself in blankets and skirted the edge, allowing room for another; her ex-husband, a new lover, who knows? Yet her dream wrapped smile betrayed no sense of absence.

It was a fact she might not have been aware of until the mattress depressed and gravity tugged her to the centre. She opened her eyes, shaped the numbers 2:53 out of the fog, and rolled toward the mass laying against her back.

She croaked through the film that dried in the back of her throat. “Madelyne?”

First Day

On Tuesday morning I was sweating bullets.

“It’s only natural,” my Mom told me. After all, it was the first day of senior year, and many of us had gone through some big changes over Summer vacation, and I mean Big, capital B, changes; for some more than others.

The horn beeped, but I still hadn’t decided. Was a skirt too much, or should I have gone with jeans? Maybe shorts and leggings would be best; if I wore a dress would people think I had something to prove?

A New Job Twist Part 11

It was 4:30am when we arrived back, and I went to the office. There was a memo on my desk. “New associates will be meeting at 6am, mandatory. Please meet in board room 2.1. I sat back, and enjoyed the peace and quiet for a couple of minutes. I logged onto my computer. I checked my client list. Then, I surfed through the pictures I had for the tablet in the cryx room. At 5:45am, I got up and walked to Meeting Room 2.1. We were all seated and early when Rhonda Matre, President of Associate Training walked in. I think we all did a double take. And we all took deep breaths.

When the bullet hits the bone

When the bullet hits the bone

Author’s note: This one was inspired by the old song “Twilight Zone” By Golden Earring.

Harry Quinn paced back and forth anxiously across the tiny hotel room.

“It's two A.M., and he’s late. He’s never late.”

Backfire

It was a lovely end-of-summer day. The Friday of the first week of my second year in High School. I was waiting for the school bus. The sun shone, the birds were singing, no classes in the afternoon due to try-out for the school teams. Then I turned around.

Sigh! I had implored him, begged him to be sensible but there I could see him coming dressed in a shortish denim skirt.

The Singer

This story was at the request of one of my blog readers who suggested the general plotline. It is NOT sweet, nor sentimental but at the same time is closer to reality. The person who requested it was pleased and that was the whole point of the exercise.

Vengeance

Vengeance
By Ellie Dauber (c) 2007

Author's note. The idea for this short came from a news story of an armed gunman at NASA (04/20/07). When I heard the news that the gunman and the male hostage were dead, but that the female survived, I thought... well, read the story, and you'll see what I thought. Then you might write a review and say what you thought.

The Palm Reader

The Palm Reader

“Being friends with Laura Towers was and still is an adventure.

Take the summer after our grade eleven year, for example ...”

****

Then ...

“Come on, Tom. I wanna go to the fair!”

“What about James Parker, he’s your boyfriend.”

“He’s working, and I wanna go, please?”

****

“Hey, look! That tent, it says, ‘Psychic and Palm reader - free readings’!”

“It’s a scam, Laura”

“How can it be a scam when it’s free?”

“Fine ...”

“Come in, children.”

The Ivory and the Ebony

“Hello. Can you hear me?” asked the young woman.

“Uhhhh,” moaned the figure lying on the ground.

“Lets get you up. You can’t stay here in the wet.”

It had been raining heavily for several hours and there were deep puddles everywhere.

She helped the Woman to sit up. Then she saw the bleeding. It was coming from a nasty gash on the side of the woman’s head.

A day out with Sammy

A day out with Sammy

“Did you buy it?” Samantha asked me. Her face beamed with curiosity. “Yes, I did” I replied proudly.
“Can I see?” she asked me. “Sure.” I answered. I felt a little hesitant. Samantha was my best friend and I shared everything with her. However, this was a big purchase for me and I also felt a little embarrassed.
