The Weather Girl

This is a story I wrote some time ago. It's shorter than most. I hope you enjoy this short story.

The Weather Girl

Have you ever flipped through the local news stations just to find the one with the best looking anchors or weather person? For me, it is not so much about the content of the news, it is who I got to stare at for those forty-two minutes every morning while I get ready for work. I'm not strange or some weird stalker. It is the same reason why I choose female gaming characters. Personally, I would rather look at something pretty than a clunky, chunky, male.

Call the Thunder: Chapter 7

Sometimes, when like hands you lemons, it's time to retaliate. With Imperious trying to get his claws on Caitlin and trying to intimidate Razor and Jericho, Razor finds himself involved in his OWN combat final... and the final chapter of Call the Thunder.

Even though my friends and coworkers tried to talk me out of it, I was attempting to mark off a major item on my bucket list. I was on a four-day hike of the Appalachian Mountain Trail. The weather was perfect. Being early fall in North Carolina it was a little brisk but the nights were still comfortable on the lower elevations of the hike I was taking.

Patrick shook his head as looked at the cards in his hand, he felt like the cards were against him and he couldn’t get a break tonight. To his left his friend Stan tossed his cards into the middle of the table.

“It’s getting late, Gonna try to get home before the wife decides to make me sleep on the couch,” Stan chuckled.

Dad, That's a Beautiful Dress You're Wearing!

By Ginger Collins

Estrogen had taken possession of her body and testosterone was in frantic retreat, if not final surrender. She had curves, breasts, and luxurious blond hair. Her cheekbones were high and her painted lips were full. Undeniably, there were ever so slight traces of maleness in her, but it actually added to her charm and made her appear exotic or beguiling. She was wearing a coral suit with a long skirt and wrap jacket with Princess seams. Her matching handbag was large and just right. Her pumps were of snake-print design and with dress soles and two-inch heels. This young lady was a class act!

Call the Thunder: Chapter 6

It's not easy, being an Outcast. Today, it seems Caitlin will finally be going through her Combat final. So will Fey! Just... not against each other. And annoyingly, Imperious seems to think it's time to make his play to take the Artificer.

“Shauna, you seem a bit pre-occupied tonight?” asked Kerry-Ann.

“Mum, it is nothing,” replied Kerry-Ann’s daughter.

“It isn’t nothing. You have sat starting at your homework for the past hour and done exactly nothing. So, come on darling out with it.”

Shauna looked at her mother for several seconds before replying.

“Mum, they are saying on Twitter and WhatsApp that Paula was a man.”

Kerry-Ann had dreaded this day coming. Paula was her wife.

“Anything else?”

“What? Isn’t that enough?”

“Are they saying anything else about us?”

Call the Thunder: Chapter 5

As the kimbas and outcasts get to know each other, things keep building up in the background that threaten both training teams. Battling would-be oppressors and bigoted students is on the menu as Outcast Corner continues trying to navigate the insanity.

Call the Thunder: Chapter 4

Caitlin's trying desperately to cope, Razorback & Jericho are hunting to cause trouble and today is finally Diamondback's Combat Final.

What is the Crash, and why are the Outcasts in it?

Why is Diamondback pitted against Hekate?

Call the Thunder: Chapter 3

Lions and tigers and Voodoo-Wolves, oh my!

With the end of the battle Jericho returns to Whateley while Caitlin's bottled-up emotions begin to bleed and boil over. Sometimes you need to get whacked over the head for common sense to impose itself back onto your life.

Call the Thunder: Chapter 2

Combat Finals have begun. The Outcasts and their friends prepare for their time in the wringer while Heyoka makes a mockery of her opponent. Unfortunately between the "Voodoo Wolves" that Jericho named, and the various weird things on campus, it's easy to lose track of what's going on.

Finding Julia - Chapter 5

‘Look Jules I’m not forcing you to do anything and from what I’ve seen so far you’ve adapted quickly and it seems a shame not to explore more. Why not let the other side of you come out or at least join in for a few days. I think it will do us both good. What’s to lose?’

Call the Thunder, Chapter 1

It was that time dreaded by every teen, when the boys become men, and the women become women. Or maybe it was just the Special Hell created by the Whateley staff to gauge the students' capacity to survive an assault by people who might hate mutants. In any case, the Outcasts and Team Kimba are forced to face the dreaded event: Combat Finals for the first time!

Jacinta, part 4

"Dad..." I said in my practised feminine voice. "I- there's something I want to tell you..."

"Yes, I can see that," dad replied, still in a state of shock at my appearance.

"I- I'm transgendered," I said confidently as Ophelia walked through from the kitchen, a mixture of shock and pride on her face. "I want to be a woman. I feel like a woman inside. I want to live the rest of my life as a woman." What felt like an eternity passed as dad tried to process what he had just been told.

The Beginning - part 5. Mom is catching on.

“Honey, can I talk to you in private for a few minutes in the living room?” my mom asked me with a serious look on her face.

I was alarmed. “Okay.” I said rather hesitantly. My mom pointed to a chair in the living room. I sat down and she looked at me intensively for a few seconds.

“What did you and Samantha do and talk about the whole time?” she asked me. I did not like the concerned tone in her voice.

Fate is a sneaky bitch

Fate is a sneaky Bitch

Author's note: I know, I know. I challenged everybody to make a story with an older protagonist, and then I went ahead and made a story about teens. What can I say? My muse is her own woman.

No matter what anybody else tells you, Fate is a sneaky bitch.

Take me, for instance. Up until today, I was Jay Carter, drama lover, geek, and wimp.

Until one day I bumped into Thomas (the tank) Anderson - Safety and defensive captain for our football team.

But it's another day in the life of a budding mystic with a few good, but odd, friends.

A Summer's Odyssey IV
Chapter 14 A

Bill Dougherty’s sons and wives, the second Dougherty generation had met with their third generation children and spouses to discuss their future. James and John worked for the same company and knew their employer was preparing to move operations to Mexico which meant they’d be out of work within six months or even sooner. Their sons, daughters, son-in-laws and daughter-in-laws were all worried about their future since each of the five had at least one member unemployed. Arrangements were made for the family to visit over the Fourth of July Weekend.

The clan made plans for an all day picnic celebration on June 14. The day was a seminal date for the clan. What happened on that day culminated with the founding of the Clan Wells Point one hundred seven days later on September 29. Not only was it Flag Day, June 14 was the day a cancer ridden near dead Carol O’Brien commissioned her twelve year old son Kristopher to somehow get his nine year old twin sisters Lyndi and Teri from Cape Cod Massachusetts to their grandmother’s Jane O’Brien, farm near Neavitt, Maryland with only fifty dollars. Along the way Kristopher discovered his true gender.

This is a tribute to someone who did not even know she was a heroine (and probably still doesn’t). She’s a member of our sorority here at BC. I have not sought her permission to publish this piece as it can be construed as fiction, and probably much of it is, but I hope she likes it. I think she may recognize herself.

This might also qualify for Dorothy’s Challenge

Every choice we make has consequences.

In my case, a choice of doors had the consequence of a totally new life.

My name is ... was ... Alan Berkoff, and believe it or not, I was nobody special.

A weak boy, who preferred to escape into books.

Then, one day, I took a walk into a grove of woods not far from my home.

I like the woods, because it is in a valley so when you get inside, you can feel like you’re a long way from anybody else.

Then things got really strange ...
