Dan dropped me off at home. His parting words were.
“Take some time to get your life sorted out and then get the hell out of town. Adam Strong might be in Ryker’s but I’m sure that he’ll be trying to discredit you. His frat buddies are not to be messed with. I should know. My brother is one of them but he’s a good guy. He saw the light and is now a Priest down in Southern Jersey, but he still has his ear to the ‘frat network’.”

He stopped me from replying.
“I know that you didn’t supply the critical bit of evidence that persuaded the DA to file charges but he clearly hates your guts. He has plenty of people that will step up to the plate in his absence. With you out of the picture he and his ilk will have to find someone else to target.”

This story was originally conceived to be a stand alone tale, but it fit Dorothy's M.Y.T.H. universe without too much modification. It starts about a year before Help! My girlfriend is a Unicorn!

This is the New Year edition.

I had intended to get it out by the end of December 2018, but real life intervened. I hope you all enjoy it, anyhow.

Andy liked to amuse himself by making prank calls on his cell until he called a very wrong number.

The investigation of the case expands as more information is discovered. Erica gets wounded.

Given the sheer number of Police and Fire Service Vehicles in the street outside my home, there really was nothing for it but to pack a bag and leave my home. I could see that there was even a TV Crew interviewing a couple of residents. The Christmas period is always a bit of a slow news time and anything with a human interest would naturally be news even if it was just some padding to fill the time slot.

An outsider who was a regular on Saturday night asked Pete, “May I try a glass of poteen?”

“Ask Pat, it’s his liquor,” replied Pete, “It’s not for sale.”

“Surely,” replied Pat. Put the price of a whiskey in the kid’s Christmas party collection box. Pour your man a glass, Pete.”

I let out a long, loud sigh of relief as the bell rings to signify the end of yet another school day. Two years ago, I'd have given anything to be able to sit in a classroom dressed the way I am right now, but today I am almost desperate to get home and strip off the stiff grey skirt and black tights that are covering my lower body.

Fred nodded in agreement. "Don’t underestimate their determination and thirst for vengeance. They want to make examples of you both.

The night before the teleport cycle, they switched back.
Linnea found it a bit disorienting, being back in her own body again.
She saw what Darlene meant by a mess of weird sensations.
She caught herself wondering whether living in a synth body was the better deal.
Alarmed, she shook off the question and tried to forget it.

Everyone who remained in the city that night knew terror by sight and sound. Some knew it one moment, and soon knew nothing at all.

A luminescent bubble grew from the center of the Faultline District. It grew and grew, crossing streets in a matter of seconds, passing through walls, shaking everything it touched.

Having a Full ride scholarship to MIT meant that I was set for the next four years.
All I had to do was keep my grades up, and I’d have a roof over my head and food in my stomach.
At least, I would once I got to Boston.

But the getting there was the problem.
I ended having to Hitchhike into Fort Wayne to meet the Greyhound going east.
And there I was settling into my seat with a whole fifty bucks in my pocket after bus fare.

“At least the phone bank went well,” Tiffany said from across the desk. She was trying to cheer me up; in the past that would have been unusual for her but even I could tell that something was different. She was changing, we all were.

“We raised six thousand dollars,” I said, placing the school paper on the desk. “That’s like, what enough to pay rent for a month at Planned Parenthood? Maybe they could buy a box of bandaids. Has Audrey seen this?”

Nicki smiled and said, “I have been reluctant to tell you more, for reasons that are obvious. I am a pre-op trans-sexual woman. I always intended to have the surgery one day in order to form a permanent relationship, but if you think we could go the distance perhaps not for a while.”
