Most often people talk about being in the right place at the right time. Maybe they achieved a beautiful photo of a sunrise, or the antics of children or animals. Maybe they found something someone lost and received a big reward when it was returned. But how often do they talk about being in the wrong place at the right time? As the intro music came up and the curtains lifted I was almost pushed back by a wall of noise. The backing track was lifted into the red zone and the singers’ microphones must have been pushed to the wall to overcome it.

Chapter One

“Oh, I thought you’d be a man.”

I sighed. It wasn’t the first time, and it probably wouldn’t be the last time I would hear those words. With my slight build, narrow face, long dark hair held in a ponytail as per Health and Safety regulations, and topped off with the Corby’s Plumbing baseball cap, I looked, to say the least, androgynous. It wasn’t unusual for me to be mistaken for a girl, so I flashed a smile at the woman and asked her if she knew where her stopcock was.

For 35yrs the border between the Human Empire and Gorgonzola Empire as remained mostly peaceful. The citizens for the Human Empire of this border region are loyal to the last man, woman, and child to the Empire. It was on one of these worlds that gave birth to a legend. The world of Apollo 6 is one of the harshest worlds within the Empire. One so harsh that only it could claim to be the birth world of James J. Owens, the most feared of Death Dealers. A world that is even now poised to give birth to a new legendary warrior. One who shall be baptized in the blood of the Empire’s enemies. CHAPTER 99
Stupidly, I missed the Italian trip, for the simple but crucial fact that I didn’t have a passport. I had a list of documents that I would have needed for getting one, such as birth and gender recognition certificates, but there was no way I could have obtained a GRC in that time. I really felt stupid when I mentioned that to Cathy, and she muttered, very out of character for her,
