Rose covers up a yawn as she drives back home. The banquet was boring and the entertainment Ciarán did later was mildly entertaining. The other high rollers that were there might have been impressed with his act, but she noticed Sasha wasn’t amused or entertained. At some point during his act, she thought she saw Sasha cover up a yawn.

A smile forms on Rose’s face as she enjoys the drive back to her place. Tonight, she wasn’t going to bother with going on patrol. Most of the gangs, weapon traffickers, and drug dealers knew to stay out of her area.

Maria raised her head, her eyes meeting mine. I had a moment of panic, as I felt a presence in my head, insinuating itself, twisting around parts of my mind. "Here. Take my hand." The Sarge smiled at him thankfully and took the hand Jake offered him to make the huge step over the rocks. Jake pulled his comrade over; it was surprisingly easy. The man seemed to weigh almost nothing. The only problem the young soldier had to face was getting a good grip on Sarge’s hand because the sleeves of the man's uniform seemed to hang loosely and several inches over his hands.

I get up and shake off the shock and grab the skirts of it and I try to run. One of the cops catches up to me and grabs me. I tuck into him and throw him over my shoulder and run in another direction. Or rather I try to run except for this goddamned thing around my legs and of course it fell back down when I flipped the cop.

Two weeks, Marisa! I’m feeling a lot better physically. I have almost no pain now, except when I move around too fast. I can go to the bathroom on my own now (yay!), and therapy is going a lot better. I still have a long way to go, but I think I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

When Sam woke, she had an inexplicable feeling of joy coursing through her heart. She floated into the bedroom, grabbed some clothes, and went to have a shower and get changed. After she was dressed, she came out and started making breakfast.
