And Kaylee’s scared and I’m feeling that and her feelings and her fears are deeper than mine but I’m still getting them anyway and I need…need in a capitol N way to keep myself covered.

Just getting caught like this and them having fun victimizing us has this violated flavor.

...she felt the gentle breeze echo her and she could almost swear she heard a soft flutter, as if a bird had hovered over her. She closed her eyes, failing to notice the woman standing just off the beach on the path. The woman was tall and handsome and appeared to be surrounded by a very large if over-sized mantel. And a second later, the wrap unfurled once again, as if she had been hugging herself. She walked over to Rianna and said something softly, heard above the gentle breeze but almost unspoken as well. Her hand touched Rianna’s face gently before she disappeared like so much fog on an ever-clearing morning….

And promptly stalled the car as it jerked forward. Sancha in the passenger seat snickered at her while the boys in the parking lot were openly laughing at her. This made her nervous. Melissa tried a few times to get used to the Supra but something seemed off to her and no matter how hard she tried she couldn't get a proper feel for the car. She would skid or spin out when she tried to drift or she stalled the car. Sancha in the passenger seat was openly laughing at her attempts to drive the car.

We stayed the night, as planned, but Mam took her toy boy along with Ian and Von back to our place. Much as he would normally have loved to talk army games with Fossy and Stewart, he was just too drained. He had pulled himself together for Hays, it seemed, and that was all he had left.

“I don’t think I’ll bother going after all.” Dennis said to his sister Rosalind, usually known as Ros.

"Uncle Alek?" Christina pleaded. "Where are we? What happened to me?" Her thoughts, which had been sluggish and unfocused, were now racing in her mind as they processed the darkness and the intense pain.

Alek placed his hand on his niece's head and stroked her hair. "Tina," he said softly. "Tina," he repeated, this time commanding the girl's attention. "You are in the hospital. You have had an accident." Alek was fairly certain that "accident" was not the correct term, but that wasn't important right now. "You had an accident but you will be alright."

Christina nodded slowly. She felt completely disoriented and untethered to the world except for the feeling of her uncle's hand on her head. "It hurts," she winced.

"I know Sweetheart," Alek said as he reached for a plastic bulb hanging from a wire on the wall. He felt the button on its tip and pressed it, summoning the nurse.
