Karaoke Night

Karaoke night

“Come with me to Karaoke night”

“Why ask me, Danica? Surely one of the girls will go.”

“They’re all busy, Joel, please?”

“I dont know ...”

“Come on, you’ve been complaining you never do anything. Come with me.”

“Oh, fine. I’ll come.”

The first thing Joel noticed when he stepped inside the karaoke bar was that some of the people had apparently decided to dress up as famous singers. He saw an Elvis flirting with a Dolly Parton, a Paul McCartney and a Madonna toasting each other, and many more.

Then he watched as a young man took the microphone and began singing “Purple Rain” ...

And changed into a dead ringer to Prince as he sang.

Before he could process that, it was his and Danica’s turn, and she had picked a dance song from the 80’s, “Obsession” by a band called Animotion.

Then Danica surprised him by taking the male part, and before Joel could stop the song, he found himself singing the female side.

And very quickly he felt himself changing into a woman - but more than his body was changing. As the song continued he felt the emotion that the singer had been trying to convey - desire for the man singing beside him.

So strong was that desire, that Joel did not object to leaving the bar once the song was done with the transformed Danica, or finding a nearby hotel together, or tumbling into bed together and satisfying the desire in Danica’s strong arms.

Morning came, and Danica awakened with a start, shouting “I’m still a guy!”

His shout woke Joel, who after checking her new curves, asked “It wasn't a dream? We really changed?”

“Yeah, but it was supposed to wear off, though” Danica responded.

“All right back up. Start at the beginning.” Joel stated.

“Okay a couple weeks ago I found that place. I sang a song with a male singer and changed to match. and it was amazing! It was like I’d been waiting my whole life for that experience. I’d always felt kinda .. off as a woman, but that night ... a piece of me came alive for the first time. But it ended the next morning. And I missed it! All I could think about was going again, changing into a guy again. But every time I went to look for the place it was gone. Then I got a message that said if I wanted to come back, I had to bring somebody with me. And when I couldn't convince any of the girls to come, I asked you. But I swear I didn't know it would be permanent for you.”

“Well maybe it just takes longer the second time.” Joel offered, trying to repress his own feelings to comfort Danica.

“That wouldn’t explain why you’re still a girl. I’m so sorry!” Danica wailed.

“It’s not all bad,” Joel said while holding Danica, “It was really weird last night, but ... so far I don't feel as out of sorts as I would have expected.”

“Really?” she asked, astonished.

Just then, her computer made a “ping” sound, and then repeated it every few seconds.

“What’s that?” Joel asked.

“I don't know,” Danica replied, “Let me find out.”

Danica got out of the bed, not remembering he was naked, and his body caused Joel to blush.

Danica must have sensed something, because he muttered “sorry.”

Joel just put her hand over her eyes, and Danica went to the computer.

Soon, Danica started to look for some clothes, and found the outfit he’d come home in last night. As he dressed, he told Joel, “It was a message. Offering us help, but we need to go as soon as we can.”

Joel, who was trying very hard to not watch the handsome man dress, replied, “You sure this isn't some kind of trap?”

“Even if it is, it might be our best shot to get you back to your male self.”

Joel inquired, “You don't want to go back?”

“Given the choice, I’d stay as I am now. But get dressed, I’ll ... give you some privacy.” He replied, and stepped out of the room.

Joel looked at the clothes she had worn here last night, and decided they would have to do.

Putting them on was less of a challenge than she would have guessed, which added to her sense that this transformation would turn out to be less of a curse than Danica feared.

Once she was dressed, she shyly exited the room, and presented herself to Danica.

The blush on his face and the bulge in his pants suggested she’d done a decent job getting ready.

Shortly, the two of them were walking back to the Karaoke bar.

As they walked, Danica told Joel more about his uncomfortable relation to growing up a girl, and how when he’d transformed for the first time, he realized he couldn’t live as a woman much longer.

Joel squeezed his hand, and they continued walking.

Soon, they were at the location of the Karaoke bar, but it had altered overnight.

It was now a bookstore, and the man who had acted as MC the night before was there.

He said, “Come in”, and they entered.

“So you are the two I was told yesterday to expect,” he said, “You can call me Asim, if you like.”

“What do you mean, you were told yesterday?” Joel asked.

“I have a seer who works for me. She told me you would be coming.”

“Then you know what our problem is,” Danica stated.

“Perhaps it isn’t the problem you think it is.” Asim said, “Be honest, don't you feel comfortable in your new bodies?”

Joel and Danica looked at each other, and both answered together. “Yes.”

Then Danica asked “But surely we can't stay like this. We have friends, co-workers, family, they wouldn’t understand”

“I believe I can help there,” Asim said.

And suddenly the room changed, and it was Karaoke night again.

Only this time Danica was Don, and Joel was Julie. They sang the same song together, with Don singing the male part and Julie singing the female part.

This time there was no change, but they both felt an intense attraction to each other, and as before, ended up spending the night together.

The next morning, they woke up and remembered everything - their original lives, and their new ones.

Their new lives weren’t very different from their old ones, other than the change in gender, and both of them realized that was a blessing.

They were still in bed when the computer pinged.

Don got out of bed, read the message, and then told Julie, “It's from Asim. He wants to see us.”

As before, the two got dressed and walked hand in hand to the “bookstore”, but there was one major difference. The first time they had been unsure - unsure of themselves, unsure of each other, unsure about the situation. This time, they were quite sure of everything, but Asim.

They entered the bookstore, and Asim was waiting.

He asked, “Does this solution to your problems please you both?”

They looked at each other, and then nodded in unison.

“I’m pleased,” Asim said.

“So what happens now?” Don asked.

“You two go live your lives.”

Julie asked, “What about our memories?”

Asim replied, “As you live the lives you have now, they will fade. They will never be completely gone, but will seem, in time to be from a dream”

“I guess we can live with that.” Don stated

Then Julie asked, “Will we see you again?”

Asim replied, “Anything is possible”

And suddenly the pair were back home.

Don sighed, and said, Well, I guess that’s that. But, I ... well, I was wondering. About us. I mean, for me, it wasn’t just the song, but how do you feel? Are you okay with us being together?”

“Silly boy. Come to the bedroom. I’ve got all weekend to show you just how ‘okay’ I am with us being together.”

End.
