It's about one AM, Saturday here. Moe and I landed in Manila International an hour ago. We got through customs super-fast (compared to DC), and are staying in the passenger lounge until our ride arrives. Manny is extremely late. I called him and he explained that no one told him we were arriving tonight much less the time of our flight's arrival. Hmmm. Someone dropped the ball there. Will investigate on Monday.

Ah well. Manny said he's at least an hour away. That's okay - gives me time to post this.

Well, this wasn't supposed to be a question I'd need to ask, but that was before running into the side of a granite boulder. I was supposed to be in Oklahoma the beginning of July. Gee, everything was set, housing, family, even the finances were all a done deal. I was supposed to have moved out from my house, and I would still be leaving more than 1/2 my monthly money so the house (can anyone say investment?) payment would be made.

It is currently day 3 of my Florida vacation with my parents and my cousin, and a vacation means that I actually have the time to get back on the site again! Woo! But that time shall pass by briefly, as once I get back to Ohio I need to get back on my work/school thing.

Even with the tail end (at least, I *hope* it's the tail end) of a sudden squall is passing overhead as I'm typing this, it's been fun thus far and I'm looking forward to the sunset sailboat cruse that's lined up for tomorrow, pending the weather.

Well it's sort of about holidays. In a single afternoon I saw two crowded beaches, three lighthouses, two windmills, lots of cormorants and kittiwakes, a funfair and a zoo. It's probably the nearest I'll get to a holiday this year.

It's too bad that the 4th of July's just a regular workday around here, except at my office, of course - only essential people or on-duty call agents were required to report for work.

Unfortunately, per the office's operations guide, my position is considered "essential," hence I had to work today... darn...

But, nevertheless, A hearty Happy 4th of July to everyone! Enjoy the day, and keep safe!

And a special shoutout to our brave fighting men and women! This is your day as much as it is anyone's.

Memorial Day

Today we in America celebrate another holiday. Memorial Day. For some it means having to work, while for others it means a day off. For some today is another day they have to work, be it for themselves or their family. For others its a chance to get together and celebrate the coming of summer. Kids thinking of the long days in the sun an having fun with friends. Others will plan summer vacations and hopefully have a chance to recharge from work, away from cell phones, deadlines and other unwanted interruptions. Today may just mean hanging with friends and having a cookout.

1½ weeks' absence

Righteo, tomorrow I'm heading off for Hastings for a week (well, heading to Mum's, then on to Hastings on Friday), so it's likely to be a week Saturday before you start seeing my random comments starting to appear on your stories again :(

Oftentimes I find myself jealous of others, for a myriad of things. I suppose girls with similar... "problems" as mine do, too. When life has given you lemons, and you don't know about lemonade... I am a regular Jealous Girl. At least some of the time.

Ma said during our last skype call a few days ago that it's forty-five degrees back home. Living in Manila for a while now, I am now more used to using Centigrade when measuring temperature, as opposed to Fahrenheit, and using kilometers instead of miles when measuring distance. So when she said forty-five degrees, I used my iPad and came up with 7.2 Centigrade. I told her it was 95 degrees here (which is 35 in centigrade-speak). It's so friggin' hot here! What I wouldn't give for a forty-five degree day.

Happy Easter!

Hi, everyone, it's Bobbie C.

We are up to our ears with cooking at the moment. We're expecting about a dozen friends and coworkers, plus my brother-in-law Toshio, over for Easter Sunday lunch, but I just wanted to send off a quick little greeting for today.

Has anyone else noticed this?

Last night I cleared the history and cookies from my browser as I often do. Later I decided to check in here to see what was up -- except my feeble mind failed me and I couldn't remember the exact URL to the site. "No problem", I said, so I "just Googled it", as the kids say these days.

Wishing you a wonderful day tomorrow

Do you remember me? I sat upon your knee. I wrote to you with childhood fantasies.

Well, I'm all grown-up now. Can you still help somehow? I'm not a child, but my heart still can dream.

So here's my lifelong wish - my grown-up christmas list: not for myself but for a world in need.

No more lives torn apart, and wars would never start, and time would heal all hearts, and everyone would have a friend, and right would always win, and love would never end.

This is my grown-up christmas list. This is my only lifelong wish. This is my grown-up christmas list.

Merry Christmas - four years later!

First, let me just say a very happy holiday season to everyone! I know it's been quite awhile since I've posted. It's been a rough year for me, between finishing up dental surgery, dealing with a cyber-stalker, and most recently the CT school tragedy. But I'm not posting this to complain about the bad.

The Weather is Crazy!

I've been on holiday this week, though because of two furry things, I don't go away, except the odd day trip. I did two this week, one to Portsmouth and the other to Bath.

All in all the weather has been the worst I can remember for a summer. June was the wettest on record, and July seems intent on beating it. Parts of Devon, the next county over from me, had a month's rain in 24 hours, I think we must have been close behind because it tipped down all day. I did go out because I wanted my Guardian for the weekend and I got some more furry food, although they'd just as soon eat mine.

Southern California, Come One, Come ALL!!!!

I had the opportunity of sharing lunch last month with Erin. One of the things we talked about is:

Is there any interest in a get together in the Southern California area for a potluck?? Erin and I were at one in the San Francisco Bay area last fall. It was a LOT of fun.

And even more fun?? Meeting with others who think the way you do, or who write/read the same genre of fiction!!

Come One, Come all!!!

If you're interested, let me know. We're probably looking at something the end of the Summer.

Hugs and Blessings,

Beth
