Something Feels Strange - 20

Feels Strange

“That’s what I’m afraid of,” I confide, “I’m so afraid that, if I let myself go, I’ll like it too much to go back.”

“Well, girl, it seems to me that you’ll have to go back to being Chris. After all, how would you explain Chris’s disappearance? I would miss him terribly. Just think, if you didn’t switch back then we’d both need to find new boyfriends; and let me tell you, girl, guys like Chris are rare and very hard to find. Anyway, letting yourself go may make the transition back to being Chris harder, but not unbearable, and I think that it will make your summer much more fun. Think about it, girl friend.”

I do think about it–a lot–before I finally get to sleep.

The Maypole Caper

Furthest Shore

We cast our words out upon the wide digital sea not knowing where the ebb and flow of electrons may take them. The words we write maybe forgotten or they might bring a smile to brighten another’s day. Standing by the sea, I wonder if I will ever know. Soon I’ll wander back to my worn keyboard, for there are more stories yet to be told. For now I am content to walk the sands, looking for signs of others that have tossed their own words upon the ocean waves trusting in fate and surf to wash them to the furthest shore.

Mike versus Michelle 3: Praise For Mom

Mom was very generous with her closet. She was also generous with her patience and understanding. On our way home from the mall, we talked about the situation.

I confessed a lot to her on the way home, but I didn't confess everything. At the same time, she said things to me that went a long way toward explaining her tolerance for what I was doing.

Medical Professional Sensitivity Towards LGBT

I found this article about raising medical professionals' awareness and sensitivity towards gay and trans patients. On the one hand, it's encouraging that there are efforts and energies afoot to do this. On the other hand, it's sad how ignorance and discrimination can exist in the medical community, just as elsewhere. The third paragraph of the article is of particular relevance to our little community here.

I have access to this through a subscription from a free Medscape blog site for Med students entitled "The Differential" (no, I'm not a med student -- I lied when I signed up for the site.) I found copies of it adapted for other websites, so I'm going to assume its copyright is either absent or permits that. Rather than post a link that probably won't work for anyone not subscribed, I'm posting the full text here.

Major Virus or ?? problem.

I don't know what I experienced, but this afternoon, my computer got Schitzo, so I tried to scan it with Norton, and left for work while it worked. I came home 5 hours later and it was still scanning the same file.

I shut it down and restarted; had to unplug it. When it restarted everything seems normal, Norton says it updated, and I have all green lights.

Bike - 655.

Tonight's is being written as you read this. I've been marshalling on the Tour Series race at Exeter. Actually, I was selling programmes, but it helped the event, which was raising money for prostate cancer charities. The riders all 50 of them were hurtling around Exeter at far from safe speeds, there was at least one crash -but it was good spectator sport.

I've only just got home, so tonight's bike will be racing along as soon as I can write it.

Another Chance part 17

I thought I had it made. Teach a class in self-defense and that’s it. It was easy money and no worries no more feeling guilty no more sponging off of Karen.

Three weeks after I started work at the shelter, I knew I was close to losing my job. I had one person take the class, and while she loved it and was effusive in her praise, no one else seemed willing to try me out.

I pitched in around the center, filing and doing paperwork, putting my administrative skills to work for them, just so I felt I was earning my paycheck, but it wasn’t enough. I knew the axe would fall soon.

My Furry Child, Brittany Passed Away Today an Obit of sorts

Brittany, passed away today. She was 1 month shy of her 19th birthday. She's been my constant companion over the years. She came to me via ex-wife when we got married. Within 24 hours of meeting, Brittany and I were friends. When my back collapse made me virtually bed-ridden for 3 years, she was always with me. She's had various health issues over the years, and I've managed to keep her going. The last 6 months have been hard as Brittany developed high blood pressure and lost her sight. She'd lost her hearing a few years ago as well.

Mike versus Michelle: I'm not a sissy!

Most people who know me...and I mean really know me, can't understand how or why I could have given up my life as a boy to become a girl. Of course the reason they don't understand is because they don't know me as well as they think they do.

Its hard to tell by looking at me now, but up until last year, I was a regular looking boy who was leading a rather average life. I had friends and played sports. Girls liked me and I liked them. I didn't look, act, or talk like a sissy. As a matter of fact, and I'm ashamed to admit this now, but I was downright hateful towards people like me. Publicly hating them was my way of putting up a front. No one ever suspected a thing. No one that it is, except for my mom. Mothers have a sixth sense when it comes to their children's likes and dislikes.

Stephanie's Deal - Episode 20

Stephanie’s Deal

by Jennifer Brock

Last year, Steven Brooks was a sad, lonely eleven-year-old boy who’d rather spend time in worlds of his own imagining than to have to face the real world. His parents only cared about grades, and his sister was a jerk. He was hoping to get a videogame for Christmas that would allow him to escape even further, and took a risk to peek inside his mother’s closet, which turned out to be the worst and best thing Steven ever did. He got caught, and his punishment (for weird reasons related to his sister teasing him about a crazy pageant) was to dress and live as a girl for the duration of his school break. Since then, Stephanie’s eyes have been opened to a better world with friends and a loving family and plenty of reasons to smile. In this installment, her doctor has some interesting news, and her secret is revealed to significant people.

The Blossoming of Billy - Part 5

“You look mesmerized Billy” Mom stated as she noticed him fixated on what she was doing.

“I just never noticed how at home you look in the kitchen. You are a pro mom!”

“Why don’t you come in a here and help then? I could teach you a few things.” Mom replied. She was sure that Billy would refuse. All the men in the family showed very little interest in anything that wasn’t a masculine ideal.

“Okay!” Billy quickly answered as he jumped up to help his mom.

“Feels good doesn't it,” Samantha said from behind her.

Erika nodded.

“You coming to the party at Greg's?”

“I'm grounded,” Erika reminded her, “My dad is here to take me home.”

Jewel box search

I was doing my weekly check of the jewlbox and found one listed 4 years ago. It is called Illiana by Kay Lavander. The prologue is not even listed on her author's page. She posted 2 segments of what is supposed to be an epic length novel, and then nothing. Has anyone seen her or it around anywhere else. Does anyone know if she ever posted anymore. I haven't gotten into the story yet, but it looks as if it might be interesting with all the other magic stories that have been done recently.
