Thirteen year-old Taylor Landt’s step-mother believes that he should be the next great football player for the high school he’ll be attending in the fall. Having a dad who is an accomplished professional linebacker, and growing up surrounded by professional football coaches and players should all but guarantee his ability to dominate on the field. Unfortunately he hates playing football, and knows his height and build will never allow him to be successful at the sport. Faced with an obsessive step-mother who ignores his obvious talents in other areas but instead thinks he is a blight on his father’s reputation, Taylor does the unthinkable and moves to Ohio to live with his mother who abandoned their family and left him with his father eight years ago.

Soon after his arrival, Taylor discovers there’s more to his inability to follow in his fathers’ footsteps than just his height. Will it be possible for him to make friends in a new town in the middle of nowhere outside the shadow of his dad's fame? Will Taylor be able to finally make peace with his mother who abandoned them all those years ago? And how long can he keep his secrets to himself?

Through the years: Two against the world part 16

“I'm tired of hiding. I hate these clothes. I hate Troy.”

Tracy got up and began pulling off the shirt she had on, pulling it over her shoulders. Sage stood with her. “Stacey, get the door. Rachel, get a skirt from the closet and a matching blouse.” Sage asked their friends in hushed tones. Sage stopped her before she could completely remove her pants.

“Okay.” Rachel nodded.

Sage pulled Tracy into a hug. “So can I assume that Troy just said his final goodbye?”

As a girl…for me there is something as close to pure joy to just walk up and wrap your arms around you father and bury yourself into that man that will always love you. “Hey Daddy…” I love just being able to do this. Its gets so much better when he hugs me back in that Daddy strong way and it lifts my soul as he lifts me off my feet a little.

I get everything that I want to report typed up and I include some of the thoughts that I came up with as observations that I have made with the information I had and I put it all into a brown envelope and head downstairs.

It’s late, or really early in the morning just after three. Rayne’s up and doing stuff with out sites. Talking with our fans and she smiles at me. I go over and kiss her in front of the web camera and then look into it. “Sorry guys love you but I’m cooking a big supper today.”

BaileyWinter2600.png
Bailey is stuck in a world becoming evermore confusing.
When things feel so right, he feels so wrong.
Even when things seem so positive around him,
Bailey feels something is horribly wrong beneath the surface.
It may be the beginning of a winter slump,
but perhaps there is more to it than that…

The End Of May: 3. What Would Ben Do?

"No, Ben, No. There are no ghosts in real life. It's only pretend. Ghosts exist only in stories and movies, never in real life."

I sighed. "Okay, then. Let's talk about a story. Let's say we both just started reading a story, a ghost story. And in this story a man named Ben sees a ghost named May. Not in real life; just a story. In that story, what would Ben do?"

Claudia's lips tightened, and she looked angry.

Chapter 55

I get dressed and let Mike in with the computer and his recordings of stuff. It’s mostly audio except for the stuff in public areas and there’s some scenes where we catch Justin and Lucas bullying some of the kids that would kind of fit into the less than up to their social standards.

They’re not hitting but both of them are big guys and hooked up with Adam…well not just hooked up. Justin’s Adams closest “Friend” and Lucas is almost as sycophantic.

“That’s Justin and the other one’s Lucas, or as I used to call them Adams right and left testicles.”

I didn’t expect seeing my dad’s picture like that to have that hit me in the gut impact that it did. I’m crying pretty hard and Adam actually gets up to help but I wave him off and I’m all sobby and stuff but I go to the kitchen sink and splash some cold water on my face and grab some paper towel.

“Thanks Adam.”

“I didn’t mean to upset you.”

“I know, just seeing Dad’s picture took me from just having him in my head sort of fuzzy to remembering.”

“Are you going to be okay?”

The New Girl in My Life (Revised)
By Jessica C

My name is Jeff but for years now and then I get these compulsions to see myself as a girl. It has become a growing ongoing tension between me and my parents that was supposed to be a thing of the past. It was two weeks before school let out for Christmas break, and I had an urge to be sick at school. I worked myself up to be sick so I could get sent home from school. I had weeks ago found some clothes a friend was throwing out and I had taken them, without anyone knowing but not yet had a chance to try them on.

Part 1 - Hob nobbing at the social.

That night I dreamed about what it would be like at the social. I was going to live every girl's dream and attend a social on snob hill. I was introduced by the butler, and I was immediately surrounded by a pack of boys. They all wanted to know who I was, why haven't they ever seen me before. I was like, petrified, until this boy came and rescued me. We danced all day, and all I could see was approving smiles from Kathy.

(Author's note: I call this story The Camp Of The Willows, because I was fortunate enough to have gone there. This is not the real name of the camp. The camp is no longer there and it has been reforested. But while it was there, I had a lot of fun and learned quite a lot about who I am. ~Barbara~)
