I opened the cover and passed the phone across to her. A quick glance, then a shy smile, rather than the beam I was used to, or the brittle near-grimace I feared.

She checked her face in the rear view mirror.

Jack, Nick, and Cheshire along with their pets have made their way to the temple. All of them were exhausted and had numerous cuts, bruises, and small wounds covering their bodies. Even Sher Khan and Chaos had blood coming from wounds covering their bodies.

Chaos was favoring his right paw. A hunter set a trap and he stepped right into the trap. Jack tended to his injured paw, but it still bothered him.
Samson was resting on Nick’s arm as they stood inside the temple. They spotted a gem hovering over a pit in midair. The pit was to big to jump across.

I may be stretching here a bit since the main character was physically castrated by war wounds and now absolutely represses any lingering sexuality. Kami and Johanna are MTF with herbal medication. Zach loved the outdoors: the fresh air, the open spaces, the rugged mountains, the sheer diversity of nature. Maybe what he liked most was the fact that there wasn't any of those damn LGBT types out there. Heck, that was why he was out there now, them and their damn Pride parade! Still, storming through the woods and mountain trails helped work off some of the anger, though there was still a lot left. Maybe if he wasn't so angry, he would have paid more attention to where he was going that misty morning, would have been more sure of his footing. Unfortunately, such things are left as afterthoughts of such incidents and looked back on in hindsight.

It felt so good to sleep in. I know we went to bed early last night but it just feels good. I don’t know if it’s that fact I’m in bed with Taylor or it’s our bed and this is home to me, but it feels great. Taylor’s alive because I can hear him snoring a little. I don’t imagine he slept well in the hospital knowing what I know now.

I roll over onto my stomach and a little offside taking the pillow and scrunching it in my arms to push it up enough so I can rest my chin on it as I watch him sleep. I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of looking at him.
