Thirteen year-old Taylor Landt’s step-mother believes that he should be the next great football player for the high school he’ll be attending in the fall. Unfortunately he hates playing football, and knows his height and build will never allow him to be successful at the sport. Faced with an obsessive step-mother who ignores his obvious talents in other areas but instead thinks he is a blight on his father’s reputation, Taylor does the unthinkable and moves to Ohio to live with his mother who abandoned their family and left him with his father eight years ago.

Soon after his arrival, Taylor discovers there’s more to his inability to follow in his fathers’ footsteps than just his height. Will it be possible for him to make friends in a new town in the middle of nowhere outside the shadow of his dad's fame? Will Taylor be able to finally make peace with his mother who abandoned them all those years ago? And how long can he keep his secrets to himself?

Adam and the Three Wishes - Part 3/6

Adam and the Three Wishes, Part 3

By Portia Bennett

Introduction: The Victorian duplex is perfect as far as Adam is concerned. The location is great and the ambience of the area is refreshing. There is a problem, though. Charli and Randi, two beautiful, precocious girls, not yet teenagers know Adams secret, and he is confounded how they do. Randi mentions she's Cindy's sister. Adam can't quite place the name. Adam and Jim meet for a couple of drinks in Boston where Jim confesses his marriage is not going well.

This is another story in the Cynthia Chronicles series. Other stories in the series are An Incremental Journey, Cynthia and the Reluctant Girlfriend, Cynthia and the Dumpster Diver, Cynthia and the Moment of Truth, Cynthia and the High School Years - Part I, Cynthia and the High School Years - Part II, Charli and the Girl Cave, Bobbie and the Glass Ceiling; and Randi and the College Professor,. The time frame of this story takes place about three to four years after Charli and the Girl Cave. If you haven't read the stories before, it might be a good idea to go back and start at the beginning.

(Kenny has found his feminine beauty in a Summer Theater camp, where even the girls have adopted him as one of the ‘Bard’s Girls’ and the hunk who is to play Hamlet has fallen in love with this pretty young lady. He was the almost unanimous choice to play the lovely but doomed Ophelia and has become Karen as he prepares for the part. The story that continues is now Karen’s.)

Once the introductions were made we moved through to the dining room where we started again as the Duke was, with Sophia's assistance bringing the food through from the kitchen.
“So everyone, tuck in.” he encouraged, not the right thing to say with this lot.

Brianna’s journey.1

Most people who knew the old me would have told you I never would have amounted to anything other than a long time occupant of a federal hotel if you know what I mean.

But here I am on this stage fixing to receive my BIO chemical engineering degree, I would like to see the look on their faces, of coarse they would most likely never recognize me unless they knew what happened.

Probably the penultimate chapter in this book, maybe of the trilogy.

Adam and the Three Wishes, Part 2

By Portia Bennett

Introduction: Adam is beginning to learn about the vagaries of business. Last in, first out: he is being laid off due to the downturn in business. That's the bad news. Less bad is that they have an opening available in a small satellite office in Hartford, CT, the 'Insurance Capital of America'. Adam is going to move, and Phantom will come with him, of course.

This is another story in the Cynthia Chronicles series. How we met

How We Met

When I heard my favorite magazine was having a contest which involved writing an essay on how you met the love of your life, I couldn’t resist it, if only because we arent a typical couple.

My submission went like this:

The first time I saw the love of my life was at the YMCA. She was just relaxing in the water, sometimes moving but mostly taking it very easy.

Then came the moment that made me want to get to know this lady better. A kid came by, and accidentally splashed her in the face, and she laughed.

Sam and I went for a walk, we kissed and hugged but I knew he wanted more. I was getting excited but did not to go any further…
…I passed out just for a moment. And Sharon glibly said, “I think this southern belle swooned from overheating her engine... Sis what am I going to do, this shouldn’t happen to me,” I whispered to Susan. …Susan hugged me back and whispered in my ear, “Patti, it did happen and it happened because you’re becoming my little sis. Please talk to me, I never thought I would have a Sis I could hold and talk to.”

"Look, you. These," as she points to her chest, "are not a political statement, or an economic statement or even just a sexual statement, the fantasies of men notwithstanding. What they are is a pain, quite literally. So explain to me why you would want a pair of your own?"

Pass In On
Chapter 8 (The last bit)

At the top of the stairs, Momma stopped and looked up at her handsome
prince. “I’ve told you all about the kids’ day, but you still haven’t told me about yours.”

Dad shrugged his shoulders. “Not really much to tell. You know the moving business ... pack this ... move that ... break something and blame it on the helper. Just the usual ... nothing special.”

Momma heard the words, but there was sparkle in her love’s eyes which meant there was more to the story.

Chapter 7

Dad knocked lightly, before pushing open the door to Michael’s room, also known as the Blue Room or the CAVE (Churchman Avenue Video Emporium).

The dark blue paint and matching carpet made it obvious to anyone why it was known as the Blue Room. The ultimate collection of the latest video game hardware that filled one wall and the shelves full of video games that filled two others, left no doubt as to why it was called the CAVE by every kid in the neighbourhood who was a video game junkie.

Pass It On Chapter 6

Pass It On
Chapter 6

Noticing the door to Paris’s room was ajar he walked the few steps to her doorway and pushed it open. Seeing her empty bed he turned back to Momma.
“So what’s the story with It?”

(In Shakespeare’s time, females were not permitted on stage and men played their parts. The practice is renewed in a summer camp where a boy finds out about himself and love. A group of girls in the class form a club, just for girls, called “Bard’s Girls,” and have invited the boy to join them — after they have prettied him up. So lovely and feminine is the boy that he soon experiences his first kiss. What a magical feeling!)

The first room they stopped at was on the left and had double occupancy. Even before Momma and Dad peeked in, the sounds of Justin Beiber singing “Baby” told anyone in the house and on Churchman Avenue, what two girls shared this room.

“Doesn’t Destiny ever get tired of that song?” Dad cringed as Momma went to her baby’s bedside and turned off the disc player.

Duty Calls chapter 03

After dinner, Sarge, Gunny and I spent the rest of the evening and well into the night hashing out the plans for my enlistment in the army. We came up with, and rejected, at least half a dozen plans that evening.

All of the planning was contingent on my parent’s approval of course. Although I didn’t think they would say no, I wasn’t sure how my mother was going to react. She was not at all happy about all the training I was doing, even though she knew exactly why. I think she was maybe afraid I would get to like it too much, and it would change me in ways that she wasn’t prepared for. In the end, it did that of course, but in ways neither she nor I could ever have expected.

She’s quiet for a minute and keeps working, then she’ll stop, think then work some more.

“Well, I’ve only ever been with a guy before but I’ve been attracted to some girls too.”

Oh…that’s so…

“Like how attracted?”

She looks at me and grins. “Depending on the girl and her personality, very?”

“So you’d?”

“Yeah, I would. I think I would at least. I mean there’s not a lot she’d do to me that I haven’t done to myself and there’s that knowing as a girl what another girl likes and stuff too.”

“And guys?”

Chapter 1 - Dr. Reed is given serious information.

As Jaime laid in bed after Dr. Reed left, she looked between her mother and her life long friend sitting on the edge of the bed. Darla was very worried about Jaime, because they actually used to do things together, much like Jaime and Danny did. Darla wasn't your girly girl, girl, she was more of the adventurous type, just short of being called a tomboy.

Forced To Be A Girl

A House Divided, part 7 of 7

“Most of you already know Jeffrey Sergeyev,” Ms. Turner said in a loud voice. “She will be using the girls' facilities from now on, as I explained Friday. Please be courteous to her.”

“Ignore the bit where she called me ‘she’ and ‘her’,” I said to the girls nearest me.
