Late night Conversation

“Hey, what’s wrong?”

“I’m scared.”

“About what?”

“About what we talked about today.”

“The... changes you’ll be going through soon?”

“Uh-huh. Its really going to happen? I’m going to change into a woman?”

“Yes. But it’ll be okay. I’m a woman, and I do fine.”

“Its not that. Its just ... everything about me will be different. The way I look, the clothes I wear, even how I think about things ... like boys and men, right?”

“True, but why is that scary?”

“Well, its just that if everything changes, I wont be ... me anymore. I’ll be somebody else. It’ll be like I died. And I dont want to die.”

“Oh you wont die. Everything will be different, but everything you are now will still be with you, inside, as memories.”

“Still scary.”

“Well, I’ll be with you the whole time, promise.”

“You’ll still love me, wont you? No matter how I change?”

“Always and forever, sweetheart.”

“Okay. Thanks for everything. Night.”

“Night.”

“I heard. Sounds like Terry’s overwhelmed by all this. “

“Look buster, you saying I didn’t handle it right? Well, with our youngest, you can do the puberty talk.”
