I know it seems silly be to me it means a lot.

For you see my father's heart gave up on Thursday. One day after June 12 aka fathers day. I had wished him such not too many days before.

Most people concentrate on a person just before they died. Ie the last day they saw them.

Am I greiving, yes very much so.

Still to me my father was a hero to many and here is a tale of what I know of him.

My father was born in 1946 here in Winnipeg to my grandparents Alma and Charles. One of eight children. Three girls five boys.

It was to be my first date. It was a blind date, or so I was told. I know I know, sucker, big L... I've heard it before, even said it a few times to my friends.

Friends. I'm supposed to be a man, or so my dad used to tell me before all those drinks caught up with him. Don't get me wrong he was never drunk at home. But the old man was a professional bartender and always took a cab home. One he didn't have a drivers license anymore, two it was just easier and cheaper for him to pay ten or so for a ride home at three am. That and I think the owner paid for it.

How do you ask? Well back in 1972 I visited a fair. Yes a fair. Back in those days having a fair was a fairly common thing. Amusements from shooting games, to horse rides, stage shows, and in particular these little wish fountain things.

"I heard what you said!" I put the back of my hand to my forehead. It was less dirty.

For the second time today when I go to bc website i get this page "checking your browser" and then it eventually gets me to bc. There is nothing wrong with either my system or browser so I have to assume there is a problem going on with bigcloset of some type.

A boy kissed me, and I let it happen for some unknown reason. Oh god ...I leaned over the toilet again and dry heaved. This week on monday we had our furnaces and woodstoves going as it was like 5 overnight with a high of 14 in the day.

It's now friday.

Last night was 19 at the coldest and its 32 right now.

With a nice breeze of 30kph

First off. My last parent, my dad, is going in soon for surgery to have a tumor removed from his spine. Btw soon in Manitoba medical is NOT a good thing. It means they think it is serious.. He was told he has a 10% chance to walk again after surgery. For a man that hasn't sat still for very long unless sleeping this is not good news.

I refuse to cry.

Second there is many "experts" out there saying that you should only let your car warm up 30secs then drive it.

Keyboards

I have seen this a half dozen times.

Simple keyboard maintenace..

turn off computer and unplug keyboard from computer.

On the back of most keyboards is a couple of phillips head screws. Remove all of them.

This exposes the inside of keyboard. usually it's a film of some type clean this with windex. Many of these are plastic with a silver film on them if it's tarnished black anywhere clean with a pencil eraser. (note windex is an ammonia based product. Rubbing alcohol will do if windex is not available)

The world of steam.

Many people forget that in the 1800's - early 1900's it was the age of steam.

Sure there was great ships powered by steam.

Sawmills powered by steam.

But that wasn't all.

The greatest use of steam was for central heating. Many a city had boiler plants that made steam for hospitals, houses, businesses. All that steam, and there was a heck of a lot, was generally produced offsite at a large boiler plant.

I was watching a tv show. A super hero show.

Why is it that even though the police chase is like 30 stories straight down the "hero" has to take a LONG way to get there?

In batman he drives for like minutes to go less than a block away?

Superman/girl fly around at great speed in the clouds to go almost straight down?

I just found it amusing. Silly in extreme but amusing.

Growing up whenever we went out to someplace dressy or special I never had to wear a tie like other boys my age. Just a nice shirt and pants were fine.

That's not to say that mom was happy when I did. Usually she would just frown at me and say something like" Oh Jay" shake her head and shoo me out the door.

Don't get the wrong idea. I was an only child to my mom and dad. Dad was a workaholic till I was about nine or ten when he went to work and never came back.

In a little house on the edge of somewhere huddles a little child under blankets with a small plastic fairy on a broken base found recently in the snow.

"Please fairy make me a girl" says the small child.

one year later

"Please fairy make me a girly girl!"

Another year later

"Please fairy make me a girly girl"

by this time the plastic fairy is rather worn. It's pink and blue paint long gone from all the praying.

The old hospital

Late in the fall of 1978 just after the first snow fall, also called locally the winter warning, a community came together in an ageing meeting hall before it became the curling/hockey rink for winter.

It was decided that since old Doc McMartin and his small clinic was not large enough to serve the community a proper hospital would be built. This may have had something to do with his habit of prescribing cod liver oil to all his patients.

They spent most of the that meeting and the winter meetings discussing ways to raise funds.

Where do people get "cannot treat transgendered people on religious grounds" from?

I have read a fair amount of scripture of various religions. Mormon, catholic, christain, budism, muslim, luthren(althoug i have to say i cant understand most of that one)

So far i Have yet to find something that definitively says that transgendered"or gender confused" people are well anything.

Closest is "man shall not wear womens garments" and vice versa..

Yet doesnt define a man or woman.

2nd bike ride of season

well last year i finally found some ball bearing pedals that would accept my toe clips and was so happy to put them on.

Well this is second bike ride of season, about 8 or 10 miles, and the one pedal broke halfway through on way home.

my left leg is a little sore and tired from taking most of the strain of ride, which btw, was not flat.

still have this want to write get to comp and load page to write and nothing flows or is garbage thing going on so no new stories yet.. Not for lack of ideas!

The dance was in full swing when Ashley walked into the side entrance. The swish of the petticoat under her skirt was driving her mad. With every movement she knew she was a girl, the petticoat didn't let her think of herself in any other way.

Usually when she walked in to a dance she was all hip swinging ready to dance or host a show. Today she was almost shy in the way she moved. She didn't understand it, it was almost like the simple act of dressing more like a daddy's girl had changed the way she was and that was just not possible.
