Cloudflare DDoS routing has broken the @Voice Aloud Reader on my Android Tablet Again

The Cloudflare page that BCTS is being routed through has broken my @Voice Aloud Reader (text to speech) on my Samsung Android tablet again. I can route to and read the stories on BCTS using my eyes just fine, but when I select a story to be read with @Voice Aloud Reader, the text from the Cloudflare page is what gets sent to the @Voice Aloud Reader app. I've tried clearing the history in the browser I'm using (Chrome) with no change/improvement.

Gender data from Census Canada

Author:

Canada carries out a census every 10 years. In the last census, in 2021, they asked questions about 'gender' covering both transgender and non-binary people. The data has now been compiled and released.

Looking for another Story

I was reminded of this story after reading another 'Looking for a Story' post, in which the MC may be over weight, and I think Leslie Moore's "Copy. Cure." may have been the front runner

Here is what I remember

I think the story is incomplete!

Set in future
May be Dystopian earth? (BladeRunner overtones)
Ruled by Corporations

MC is an (overweight?) hacker, (Female Persona Online?)
built a mainframe from obsolete hardware
Goes out to collect a replacement part,
has a meal at a street cafe, while waiting for contact

Need help setting up and organizational page

I'm finally going to post all the Petticoat Detective stories by Andrea and Daphne and it occurs to me that they really should be read in order. So they should be set up on their own organizational page. I've seen plenty of these other authors have on their story page, but I've not even a clue as to how to set one up.

Can anyone out there walk me through the process?

Writers Research - comments turned off?

Is the lack of comments intentional or accidental?

Anyhoo, its an interesting start to what could become quite a saga. Method writing isn't a new thing, i do it myself, its rare that i ask my characters to do anything i haven't experienced myself, (i said rare, not never!) but to use it as the story plot may be a new one!

10 points to Hufflepuffs!

Looking for a story

The name of the story is "In Plain Sight" Not the one by Tanya Allen on Kindle. I don't know the author or have any idea of where it was posted.

The story is about an Army Ranger team who served in Afghanistan. Sniper and spotter. They were in DC to receive a Medal of Honor and while out on the town, witnessed a drive by shooting of a powerful drug lord. They were able to ID the perps and the drug cartel has a contract out on them plus the Taliban has issued a Jihad on them, so they are going into the Federal Witness Protection Program.

Interesting news

My crappy memory won't remember the name, but I recently read a story here about a brain transplant patient who was accepted into her new (female) host body's family, who owned a solar technology company? Anyway, she dated/married a local boy who went to university and invented a new solar panel for them that also generated electricity at night (and cloudy days?) by generating electricity from temperature changes.

Today I read this article that reminded me of that story.

Career Day -- review

While the site was down, I reread Grover's "Career Day". (I had downloaded it on my hard drive; an old habit from my dial-up days). I found it a fine piece of Sci-Fi/Fantasy. Usually I don't like Sci-Fi/Fantasy because it takes the decision regarding gender away from the protagonist.

Grover, however starts with an older trans person who through some unknown quirk of time/space finds himself in an alternate past and is given a second chance and doesn't waste it.

If you've never read it, or even if you have, give it a read. It well worth the time.

Hot time in the ol' town tonight

Just in the last 30 minutes two big brush fires have blown up near us. The temp is 81F, the humidity is a paltry 19%, and the wind is out of the south at 28mph gusting to 32mph. No sooner does a fire start then it blows up big time. One fire is just a couple of miles east and a mile or so north of us, the smoke is choking. Karen is on 100% O2 and I'm going to load her up and head to the local IHOP where we can wait it out. Not worried about the house, it's not in danger, breathing is the problem.

Late again

So I didn’t forget you all nope, I’m just a bit weary. Why I don’t here you ask? Well I’ll tell you anyway.

I hinted at a trip the other day and that has come to fruition. Yep, after best part of 3 years I’m finally on a mini bike trip. It’s nothing grand, today I rode down from Bristol to Somerset’s other seaside resort, Minehead. It’s not a huge distance, a mere 120km, but with the strong winds and latterly a few steep climbs, it’s been quite a tough day.

Any one remember Phil Donahue hosting cross-dressers?

I'm writing a story that references Phil Donahue having cross-dressers on his show and I want to get the time frame correct. I need to know just how old one of my characters needs to be to have seen the show.

I can find them on YouTube, but can't find out when they aired.

February 2022 BCTS "Magic of The Heart" Story Contest

I wasn't going to enter this contest. I have a pretty large bone pile of unfinished stories that I've been trying to wade through and see about finishing some of them. I've tried several and not been able to get more than a few hundred words going.

Patty or Pat

Blog About:

Author:

As many of you who follow my blog know, I'm retired and drive school bus (about 20 hours a week) to combat the boredom of retirement. I'm sure that I've also mentioned that when I drive the bus I dress very butch. My usual fair is androgynous tennis shoes, dark grey jeans, polo shirt and an equally androgynous vest issued by the company with the company name on it. The jeans, BTW, aren't skinny jeans. The only thing feminine about my appearance would be the way I wear my hair; pulled back at the sides and held with a small barrette that is nearly the same color as my hair.
