February 2022 BCTS "Magic of The Heart" Story Contest

I wasn't going to enter this contest. I have a pretty large bone pile of unfinished stories that I've been trying to wade through and see about finishing some of them. I've tried several and not been able to get more than a few hundred words going.

Patty or Pat

As many of you who follow my blog know, I'm retired and drive school bus (about 20 hours a week) to combat the boredom of retirement. I'm sure that I've also mentioned that when I drive the bus I dress very butch. My usual fair is androgynous tennis shoes, dark grey jeans, polo shirt and an equally androgynous vest issued by the company with the company name on it. The jeans, BTW, aren't skinny jeans. The only thing feminine about my appearance would be the way I wear my hair; pulled back at the sides and held with a small barrette that is nearly the same color as my hair.

Need an IT professional's input on a story I'm writing.

OK, I'm writing a story in which an IT troubleshooter needs to locate an unknown virus and irradicate it without destroying the data.

The fictional device has a 1 gig solid state C drive and a Terabyte drive D. I'm presuming that the virus would have compromised something on the boot drive.

C drive is using 79.6 of 97.8 available
D drive is only using 4.75 of 931 available.

Need help from a Samsung phone guru

I have a Samsung Galaxy J3 smart phone model SM-J337U. Up until recently, I've been able to access the internet while out and about on the phone. However, a while back, I was in Home Depot trying to use their app to locate something in the store and it said I didn't have an internet connection. Then last week same thing happened at Safeway and just today, I was at Best Buy and wanted to do a curbside pickup.

"Gaby with her singing career" - Maddy Bell, 2022/01/23 "The Sound of Music" blog entry

My finances have sucked for years. Some years ago I finally decided I've got to stop buying Gaby books as they come out. And eventually I succeeded. And then the next book out was "Gaby Ontario". And I agonized and I fretted. And eventually I said "OK. I live in Ontario. I can buy just one more." And I bought it.

Understand One's Own Medical

Have been running into lack of knowledge in my medical doctors who are supposedly transgender and intersex knowledgeable. One flat out told me she had no training or understanding of the needs of what transgender care means. I told her it was normal as we are the smallest minority so who would want to waste precious time studying those like us? Yesterday I passed over some data to my psychiatrist she had never looked into. Yes, I see one as most all of us do.

Thank you

I think I first discovered this site when I was about 14 or 15. I must've come here every day to read the stories posted here. These stories got me through the absolute worst moments in high school. I fell off when I went to university, but throughout the pandemic I was feeling nostalgic and I went back through the site (and some old bookmarks) to re-read some of my favourites. It was crushing seeing how many names have since been added to the memoriam. I just wanted to thank everyone.

Maybe it's only interesting to me but these were some of my absolute favourites as a teen:

There goes Santa Claus

Yep, that's Chrimbo day gone, done and dusted!

I had hoped to offer you another chapter of Ontario this evening, -'ve got as far as first draft on the site but despite many attempts it won't preview so I can't post it. (this is from my phone). After best part of 2 hours of trying i've now given up, life is too short to waste it waiting for the site to work.

Count down to Christmas

Well here it is December 24th, Christmas Eve. As usual, we're all in a tizzy (mistyped that one as tissy. I almost left it. If you don't know the meaning, look it up and you'll see why.) Tomorrow we are headed in to town (that is the nearest big city, we live in a small town of about 2K population) to my daughters house for dinner and exchange of gifts. This is their first Christmas in their new house. My oldest will be going with us, my grandson (age 20) will be there as will my granddaughter (age 23) she has invited her first boyfriend. Yes, she didn't date in high school...

Jingle Bells

I needed a bit of cheer, December has been a bit 2nd rate so far, and remembered that I should have had the cheap Christmas earrings out this week. (digs the box out) Well, they had the desired effect. Wife, Mum, and work are getting used to my little eccentricities now, for which I am grateful and appreciate that I am lucky in that respect. Anyway, jingle jingle! Frequent head shakes to hear them :-)

Riley will return soon

Hello everyone,

I just wanted to make sure to let you know that I have been able to write again. My two jobs kept me busy the last few months and I have been struggling with anxiety and mental health in general as well. Mostly due to Covid but other things as well.

I will soon post the next part to "The life of Riley". I'm sorry for the long wait. I hope I didn't disappoint anyone too much.

Stealing One's Life Hours

Each of us has only so many minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, years in this life. There is no buying or bartering for more. When others steal our labors they steal part of our life. There is no way to replace the time in our life stolen from us. Most figure it's a monetary thing. lost finances but it's much more. As I was skimming the net this never came up in Google but it did in Bing. If one is looking to find how many sites reference back to one's accomplishments it wouldn't hurt to use several different search engines.

Good King Wenceslas looked out...

on the feast of Stephen. there were all sorts of exotic goodies, Stephen really had pulled out all the stops, blackbird pie, crab apples but he must've of misread the recipe for pigs in blankets - the swineherd was fighting a losing battle trying to keep his charges wrapped!

Fiction not that far off

Many of the stories on BCTS follow the same theme of school bullies and brutality. Those stories are more non fiction than fiction. I don't think I'm reveling any confidential secrets when I repeat what one of the ladies at the VA TG meeting told the rest of us when she was going to school. Every school day, every school year was literally hell for her. She was constantly getting beat up.

Singer reconciles with Trans father after 10 years

British singer/songwriter Frank Turner never got on with his father, who was apparently quite abusive towards Frank as he grew up. Then his father took the name Miranda and transitioned. An event Frank could not forgive and they didn't talk for ten years. Eventually Frank got to know Miranda better, they reconciled, and Frank has written a song about the experience. Take a listen here : "Miranda".
