i'll be glad for the mercury to drop!

To be fair, day time in the 30's isn't so bad, its when its still high 20's when you want to sleep, i don't think it dipped below 20 at all last night! But its due to break overnight, tomorrow should be @ 10c cooler, warm enough but not debilitating in the same way, of course after the heat there's warnings of thunderstorms, no doubt we'll be complaining of excess water by midweek.

So, the weather has affected my programme, after all, you don't really want to be doing too much exercise through the heat of the day if it can be avoided. Thursday then i went into 'avoid the heat' mode, a slightly earlier start for a shorter ride, a little over 55km with an ice cream stop, i was back in Briz lunchtime. Not that that meant i got anything done, 32/3c doesn't encourage the noggin to work!

Rather than walk on Friday i was back on the bike for what turned out to be @ 70km with a cake stop but it was in more open country, a bit less oppressive than in the Avon valley on Thursday. That said, by the time i got back it was starting to get quite uncomfortable.

And so to Saturday, it was already high in the 20's when i set off @ 9am, this time heading out towards the coast, stopping for a BLT at Clevedon. Then it was a fairly straight run east back to the Avon at Keynsham before a last effort along the bike track. I beat the higherst temperatures oncemore but like Friday, it was getting uncomfortable when i finished the 88km circuit. I had planned on another short ride today but i've done the miles for the week and maybe a walk is a better idea.

Its not all sunshine and roses, Aunty Bev has been ill with the heat despite hardly venturing outside, you don't want the details but she's been feeling particularly sorry for herself. And there's not much i can do other than offer tea and sympathy.

In other news, we've been getting a huge crop from our green beans this last couple of weeks, at least 2 servings worth nearly every day! The cucumber plant has done great too, so far we've had 4 nice cucumbers, will there be more? And it looks like we'll actually get a few reasonable strawberries from my strawberry pot. The other stuff continues to flourish despite/because of the heat, my Habernero lantern chilli has fruit and the Jalapeno has signs it might give something too. We've even got a second crop of raspberries coming through.

Well today i've posted the next chapter of Gaby - Fame, Ski Bunnies Too. As you might guess, this includes more action on the ski slopes of St Anton for our girl and her friends.

I think that's about it for now, i'll be back on Wednesday,
Tschuss
