4AM seemed bad enough. Considering that I had to hitchhike from Needles, I set the alarm for 2:30.

Why had I even bothered to go to sleep?

(I'm no good at Gimp or Photoshop, you'll just have to imagine that Iris has thistle-colored eyes. Though I do now have an anime-ish avatar depicting Iris.)

Author Note: Sorry it has been so long since my last update. I came home safely from being over-sea's and have been going thru a divorce for the last 2 years.

“I can't believe I did all those things today!” Danny's eyes shined with happiness in spite of the heavy gray clouds that had hung overhead all day long.

It’s ironic, I was stealing things so I could go as Ronnie and now the opportunity was being given to me when I didn’t deserve it… “You should send a girl’s outfit with me for Bobby, as well as a girl’s bathing suit.” … Mom is not happy that I had done that without her permission. The result is I’m not going out Friday or Saturday night… ...I have enough clothes here that you could dress and be a girl for part of a day. Around eleven o’clock tomorrow there shouldn’t be anyone at the girls’ shower.

CHAPTER 7
We got the news over the net piecemeal, and then three or four days later we had a formal announcement by a visiting staff officer, his shoes clearly unused to the snow and frozen mud that covered our leaguer and rest area. We formed the usual hollow square and he spoke in the usual public-school whine.

Amy turns Maggie around and kisses her gently on the lips, and Maggie melts into her arms and holds her tight.

“I was so lucky when I found you,” she whispers, and Amy smiles.

“Not as lucky as I was to find you.”

“I’m lucky to find you both.” Finn’s voice comes over their comm units, startling them both. “Especially since you keep hiding yourselves away to whisper sweet things to each other. It’s almost time for you two to make your entrance. Are you ready?”

Bishop grins and gives her best girl a squeeze.

“Yes, Michael,” she replies, looking into Amy’s eyes, “Let’s go make Harlan Straker cry.”

PART 3 TEASER: With the arrival of the school attendance letter, Darren’s grasp on his former adult life is tenuous. Despite this setback, he hatches a plan to regain his status, and the prospect of salvation through legal emancipation becomes a reality. Should he fail, however, come September, he will face true horror- a second trip through high school. As this is happening, Abigail has her day in court. Through it all, Abigail experiences the powerful effects of what she hopes is simply a harmless crush.

We rolled into the big city, and Wilf went looking for the best pub. No, not really. There were no pubs. No houses, no streets, nothing but rubble and blank-eyed locals staring at us without any life in their faces.

CHAPTER 4
I sat in the warmth of that Summer’s sun and wept. We had finally been pulled out of contact, for you can’t replenish under fire, and in the sudden break from what I had been watching my strength had finally broken loose and fled, and I was crying like some stupid little girl. That airfield.

The Air Force Captain took a lung full of smoke. “I saw it, but I don't know if I believe it. However, what the hell. No one else has believed either, but the question is do you believe in superheroes, because I swear to Gawd we intercepted Iron-Man and War-Machine out over Tampa Bay last night.”

Another TG blast from the past, in celebration of this July 4th. In 2001, this tale of alien invasion was meant to be my first attempt at a gender bending epic; written as straight up Science Fiction rather than as a joke. Naturally the greater story is guided by some insanely complex characters for such an action driven narrative. Would you expect any less from me?

Of course, as with my other older fiction, this is presented as originally submitted, warts and all.
