Comfort

Bailey Summers' story 'Bridges' is one i have been following and enjoying, and the PTSD stuff has hit a few targets in me. I posted about Jefferson Airplane's track 'Triad', and as one must, I dug out 'Crown of Creation', then 'After Bathing...' and then 'Surrealistic Pillow'
So, here I am, a geriatric tart in a Wales rugby shirt, headphones on as I listen to the music of the childhood I wish I hadn't had, a glass of wine and its friends beside me.

I can't decide if this is good or bad. I'll put some 'Country Joe' on next and drift away....sod it, I think I need to get drunk.

Marvel Infographic

Something that may be of interest to Whateley-ites and Retconners - an infographic about Marvel ®, courtesy of an outfit called "Online Schools".

They normally expect it to be embedded in pages, but since it's about 4,700 pixels tall, I thought it more prudent to link to an embedded copy elsewhere - i.e. the site where I found it.

So, if you're interested, click on this link to view.

Drotandrous Dichogamous Pseudohermaphrodites

I stold this phrase from AE Brain, LOL But reading about it, I wonder if at least some Transgenderisim is simply a variation of protandrous dichogamous pseudohermaphroditism. I hope that none of you missed the clip on CNN where a Doctor said that for example, a Mtf Brain is more like that of a woman, and visa versa.

Hmmmmm.

Dragging the world, kicking and screaming out of the dark ages.

Speaking Of Dressing Up

Just saw Scotty's blog posting on dressing up as Lolita. I hope he finds the bits and pieces of outfit he needs to pull it off, and I'll be looking forward to pictures.

Let me turn the topic now to... me, because like a lot of people I either like talking about me, or am so completely insecure that I need to, always with the hope that people will somehow offer me some support and acceptance, and if not love, then at least "like." Self-esteem... some day I should get me some.

1,646,375 thanks

For those of you who unaware of my short story, Easy As Falling Off a Bike, according to my archivist (sounds posh dunnit) the figure above is the number of words my ramblings under one title have produced.

I think some thanks are in order (of seniority) to Erin, for allowing me to fill up her servers with my nonsense, and for providing this unique resource to the community.

To my archivists and summarisers; Holly, Ben and PS with thanks to Erin for her assistance in setting it up.

A Walk in the Dark.

On this story... I started it weeks ago and got stalled for awhile. Thanks to Lillith's help I got past that and now the chapters just seem to tell me what is happening. I know it's kind of tedious just now, by the way, but Dylan/Dahlia has to get used to being what she is. These first chapters are about her learning that.

I promise that once that is done things are really going to be fun.

Well something happened....

Well something certainly seems to have broke free at some point.

I took a story idea, made a few changes, and have written about 800 words tonight.

It's not a lot, and I don't know how far till it's gonna be ready, but this probably won't be a short story, although it might have short chapters.

I Have Diabetes

I went to see my doctor today and I took the diabetes test. My fasting glucose level was 154, so she put me on Metaformin and set new guidelines for my diet. I definitely have to lose weight too. The good news is that if we keep it under control, I can still have my SRS in the future. I am going to do everything possible to follow her instructions. I am grateful that we caught this early on before it turned into something more serious.

Hugs,

Jen

Thank you

Last night several things all came together. I was looking over the first couple of parts of my story 'Catwalk Confidence'. The first thing I noticed while looking it over was boy do I need to go back and clean this up a bit. The second thing I noticed was that within the storyline, it has been almost a year since young Alex started writing in his, excuse me, her journal.

Has anyone seen my muse?

Well this is a fine thing.

I can't find my muse anywhere. I must have left it here as this is the last place I saw it, I'm sure. They say it's always in the last place you look and I've looked around plenty, but just can't seem to find it.

So far I have Sunday Girl (tg), A Halloween To Remember (tg), The Return of the Raven (vampire non tg) and Yesterday Once More (tg) that have all ground to a halt, the second after over twenty thousand words.

They all seemed to be going so well and then... Phut!!

I'm completely sunk.

Lt Katia Ch 2 Delay

I had planned to publish "Lt Katia in Afghanistan, Ch 2, on Tuesday, but suddenly suffered some insufferable, slothful behaviour from my computer! GAH ! Good old Murphy for you. Well, it all seems to be working once again after marathon sessions with Microsoft, Norton, and AMI. It was all a bit much for a mild mannered, compliant, obedient, woman to handle, though we did avoid actual tears over it all. I did, snark snark, allow the hot sounding, Punjabi man in India to think that I might be in danger of a serious tear storm.

Updates on Robin, and Other Stuff

Hey guys,

I just wanted to post a quick update on what's going on with me, and my lack of presence lately. Things have just kind of snowballed on me with what happened to my dog (he's doing a LOT better, by the way. He's almost completely healed, and getting back to his old self), holiday drama, and about a hundred other things that I'd rather just put out of my mind for now.

On top of that, I've been sick this week, which has really drained me, but I'm sitting here with a big bowl of chicken noodle soup as I type this, and I'm starting to feel a bit better.

something to say, but not sure how to say it

I have something that I would like to be able to share, but I am leery of actually sharing it since it might pain some others here. Basically, I had a flashback last night, and instead of being just a victim, i thought about writing it down. The result is a nearly full description of one of the last times i was assaulted. Trouble is, too many people here have had rapes happen to them, and i have no desire to bring those memories back for them unless they can handle them. Any ideas?

Inspiration, or lack there of...

I've been struggling these last few days.

I've been doing quite a bit of reading, and got in my head that I wanted to work on my writing.

So I got out my laptop, and I installed word, and I downloaded the several most promising "works in progress" that fit the mood of what I was wanting to write, and nothing.

I seem to be stuck in a rut for several years now. I have MANY MANY great story ideas, and can usually come up with half of a first post for a serial, but that seems to be about it.

There hasn't been much around my way, but I couldn't resist pointing out some of the dafter stories to emerge from the UK's recent snow.

In case it hasn't been reported in your neck of the woods yet: A woman dialled 999 (UK Emergency Services number) to report a theft.

So what?

The item in question was a snowman, with pound coins for eyes.

Understandably, the force has branded her "Completely irresponsible".

the sound of crickets

Well, apparently, my last piece was a dud. As the saying goes, even Babe Ruth struck out more times than he hit home runs, and i am most definitely NOT the Babe Ruth of writing. But the experiance has taught me a lesson. I am a pretty needy girl when it comes to my work. I thrive on praise, and wither without it. But i think i need to change that if i am going to keep writing. Still, I hope at least some of the time i hit a "home run"....

CHAPTER 10

As we approached the alien ship, I got cold chills. This thing was as strange as could be. I hated to think what the ones who built this craft looked like. We were guided into the ship and docked at a port. Karen turned to me.

Characters in 'Cold Feet'

I have been asked or prodded to put up something to give an idea of who's who in the story, as it drags on and on, so I have composed a little list of main people. I have attempted to add it as a comment to the 'outline', but as a technophobe have probably done it incorrectly, so here is the list in an accessible place.

Windows 7 a Dog too far.

About 7:00 PM tonight, I started upgrading (?) my computer from Vista to Win 7. It is now almost 1:00 AM and I am asking myself just what in the hell I was thinking? They changed things that I liked just fine, now I gotta figure out how to do them now. I was so happy being able to fun two screens and now none of that works. Norton doesn't even look right any more.

Now I am even thinking of going out and buying a refurbished Apple. YUKKKK!!! I hate Apple computer company. Like I would rather swallow a fence post.

Link to Title page at the top of a chapter?

Something that just occurred to me as I will sometimes have my interest piqued by a story that I see in my RSS reader would be to also put a link 'up' at the top of the page as well. This way, I can just go back to a stories title page without scrolling to the bottom of the page (and potentially revealing something that I would have found out by reading from the beginning...)

Canada, Dress rules established for transsexuals in military

Just read an article by Tom Blackwell, (National Post  · Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2010) about new guidelines for dealing with transsexual military personnel. Good article, and the closing comment by Cpl. Murray is perfect. "There shouldn't be any issue at all. We're just regular people doing a regular job, the same job as everybody else."

My mom took me shopping for a ladies coat

A few days ago, I had causally mentioned to my mom that next time i had some cash, I wanted to look for a ladies coat. To my surprise and delight, today she took me shopping. Even though i went in male clothes, it felt like a genuine mother-daughter shopping trip. We found a nice coat that fit me, and I feel much better for it. Do I have the best mom, or what?

Tropical Twist

4 - Battle

by Penny Lane

"Will you just look at that?" Jack murmured to the others. Melanie was walking towards them carrying baskets containing their lunch, her body swaying with a natural rhythm that made the men's pulses quicken. "Can you believe, just a few months ago, she was Paul? I see it every day, but my brain still finds it amazing."

"It's a miracle, that's what it is," Les opined. "If she was a Catholic, she'd be in line for sainthood, that's for certain."

"Well, no," Doc said. "The saint would be the one who changed Paul into Melanie, not Melanie herself. But I agree, she's a good mover, isn't she, for someone who was a bloke when we landed."

Father Christmas’s Wondrous Present

Arthur stood in line waiting–not very patiently.

His mother held his hand tightly as the queue inched forward–far too slowly for Arthur, who was fidgeting so much, it was as if he had Saint Vitus’ Dance or ants in his pants.

my christian connection

Looking at the responses I got from my last entry, I feel I need to explain a bit about my faith. When I first became a Christian, I had no real teachers in the faith. I got a bible, and read it from cover to cover several times. Some things I understood, some I did not, but I had no one to ask. Since I was a "Christ"-ian, I figured I should read what Christ said and use that as my guide. Unfortunately, there was nothing that really covered the area of my tg, at least in the new testament.

Bottom of the cycle, I hope!

My emotions seem to follow an irregular cycle. Sometimes the ups aren't all that high, and the downs are pretty darn low. I had a moment around the beginning of this year, on the drive home from work, when the idea popped into my head that all I had to do was put my foot down on the gas and let the car drift over into the trees lining the road and I wouldn't have to feel that bad ever again. I had to fight to keep from doing it, too. Scared the #*!@ out of me, as you can imagine.

First Post

My first post here. I have been a lurker on this site for YEARS. I have really enjoyed reading the stories over the years, but for reasons unknown to me I never joined or posted. However, for some reasons I finally feel the winds of change blowing. I'm not sure where they are going to take me, I'm hoping for fair winds. But I finally decided that I needed to start saying how much I've enjoyed the stories over the years and how much joy they have brought me.
