Tabloid Tales: Memphis Interlude

This is the second of my two stories about Twentieth Century icons. Except for this one, all the “Tabloid Tales” stories were written by a very fine writer named Pyrite, whose work I heartily recommend. The stories are part of a VERY long line of tales set in a pub, bar, or other drinking establishment by authors ranging from Lord Dunsany to Spider Robinson. In the Tabloid Tales, the characters are all writers working at tabloid newspapers, the sort of paper sold in the checkout line in grocery stores. Since they write about the odd and fantastic, they’re willing to listen, at least, to any sort of story told by one of their own. In this story, it’s a fellow named Billy McNeil, who has a KING-sized tale to tell.

Poor Will…

I’ve never really seen or help anyone before when they’re all upset, but Will is really upset and I pull him inside the house with me and somehow I manage to use my crutches and the fact he’s sort of still able to stand to get us into the living room and the couch.

We just get down and he starts to shake even harder.

“They woke me up…I…I was asleep and I heard the first crashes of stuff getting thrown. They were both doing it. Dad got paid a couple of days ago and stuff but mom was out…she had took off on another bender…and dad…dad had left too and went looking for her and I…I think he ended up at a place with some VLT’s and that was it.”

Caution: The following story from my muse is bent in a really bad way. Just never and I repeat never wonder what would happen IF..

Aunt Jane faces an uncommonly difficult test - a boy who simply will not break under her tests. Oddly, he is the most well-mannered and polite student she's ever taught, although his records say differently. Will anything break through his wall of control or will Jane be forced to send him back where three years of state confinement await him?

A Tail tale

The last thing I remember was walking into my cheap apartment after a rowdy night with the guys. This is pretty much the same as every other night when one goes to a university in which your parents are paving the way for you. I was to graduate from university in another month or two. My grades were all top scores, which is kinda hard to not get when your two apartment mates have been various tutors in the subjects you were taking. My only escape from the horrid life dictated by my parents before I was even out of the crib was partying.

Things went from black to this fuzzy grey and Emily could smell something sweet yet not cloying this really lovely almost mixture or flowers, citrus and vanilla…Kira’s perfume.

But it was after school?

After school.

Jack and the asshole…

Grabbing her, trying to grab her! Oh my god they were going to!

“Aaah!!!” She sat up with a scream and planted her face into Kira’s shirt and cleavage.

Jennifer (Jenny to friends)Wauwatosa, nobody could ever pronounce it correctly which is why the girls commonly referred to her as Ms. W or Ms. Wawa it was just easier, was walking down the school hallway on her way to the staff room for a much needed cigerette when she passed by the door to the girls washroom. She later couldn't say what it was that alerted her but she sidestepped to the door and opened it onto a scene of chaos.

A guy with a hobby of photographing women in skimpy bikinis comes to Bikini Beach. He finds what he thinks is a way to get pictures of the patrons — against their will. He doesn’t count on the old woman being in a particularly bad mood.

This is one of the earlier BB stories; as such, grandmother isn't quite as smoothed-out as she is later. Be advised.

Why should Elrod have all the fun of posting Bikini Beach stories? Here's another one of mine. This is the first of three related tales. I'll post the second in a few days, and, if there's a good response, I'll finally get around to writing the third.

To paraphrase the song, "You don't pull on Superman's cape. You don't spit into the wind. You don't tug the mask of the old Lone Ranger... and you certainly don't try to steal the purse of Grandmother, the nice lady who runs Bikini Beach."
