Chapter 1 – The class discusses their projects.

The next morning, Jay and Jimmy’s mothers woke the boys up. Jimmy got his school clothes and went to take his bath. After Jimmy was finished, Jay took his bath. When they were done getting their clothes on, they both went down to breakfast.

There's something wrong here. It says on my resume, of which I have mailed out approximately 6.37 billion in the last year of semi-employment, that I am a highly skilled electromechanical technician. It says a lot of other glowing things, but in essence it means I can go into a factory somewhere and quickly understand and repair several millions of dollars worth of complex machinery that is doing something the normal maintenance staff cannot fix. At the risk of hubris I'm good at it too. So why is it that the common household sewing machine strains my abilities to the breaking point and beyond.

Kozuke gently runs the washcloth through the basin of scented soapy water, and begins to gently sponge the sweat off of her body. For some reason, she is always very sweaty in the morning. He suspects her dreams aren’t pleasant.

I shut the car door and walked up the drive. The lady waited for me to arrive at the door and then drove off.

Emmett has to deal with his girlfriend's evil cat, Luna, while Brittney is on a conference trip for a week. While having a hard time with the cat, Emmett finds himself mistaken for a woman in public. Eventually realizing the cat is behind it, Emmett struggles to keep his sanity and his gender intact.

Lacey was asked to come down to Harrisonburg to hang out with Bug for the day at 9 pm the night before by her grandmother. That request sparked a stern talk about why spending time with Bug was a very bad idea from her mother, directed at both her and her grandma. This stern talk turned into an argument between her and her mother which then led to an argument between her mom and her dad. Lacey could hear the argument, as her parents made no attempt to keep it quiet. Her father was for Lacey going to Harrisonburg to spend time with Bug, whereas her mother was completely against it.

Five nested stories form one overall tale! Sometimes life is disillusioning. I have sat here in my closet for about twenty years now, and for the past five or so the door has been open far enough to hand out these columns. Believe it or not, I really don't have a great urge to fling the door open and come out in my finest. I know that I am too far from the feminine norm to ever be more than a conspicuous fraud, but it doesn't bother me. I enjoy dressing for the sake of dressing, and enjoy the company of my sisters once removed via the post office.

This book is a companion story for “To Be a Different Someone”. It is not required to read to understand the plot or the characters…but you may enjoy to know the other side of the story.
