Lieutenant Silvia Bickle has to provide an interview to an old flame which turns out to be quite confrontational and Penelope and Bradley are still having problems with their relationship.

At the Jefferson state fair is in town. Hijinks ensues for our lovely protagonist as she has a day out with Jo and some friends from school.

She opened the door, hoping it wouldn’t creak. Judy saw the bed where their guest lay, and had a suspicious feeling about her. Five or six years ago, she would have sneaked in and poked the woman on the nose just to be sure. Sleeping people breathed differently from anyone who faked being asleep.
